joel was wary the first time you mentioned wanting to have kids with him - first, he talked down about himself and wouldn’t admit how good of a caretaker he is. second, sarah was a knife dug into his heart that he could never pull out; he was frightened what having another of his own kin would do to his soul.

but his love for you trumped every doubt. you grew closer as you figured out how to parent again, your love for one another intensifying and funneling into the little human you had created together.

as he burped your baby in his lap, he grumbles as he looks up at you, “never thought i’d be doin’ this again.” you tease, “it looks pretty natural from over here, cowboy.” joel glares at you over the rim of his glasses, a smirk playing on his lips. he silently worships you for giving him this life.

I've grown as an artist in ways I would never have imagined this last year, I've felt inspired to create unlike ever before and simply by you sharing has had such a ripple effect on the joy I find online in general (which feels kinda crazy to say considering how bleak things are rn)
