STRANGER THINGS SPOILERS!!

the duffer brothers were too scared of upsetting people to write a good ending. Vecna had been haunting these kids for YEARS and it took five minutes to kill him are you fucking joking me. Steve should’ve died, Will should’ve died, Nancy should’ve died. Eleven should’ve actually been dead instead of some bullshit escape that they turned it into. The last 40-50 minutes were poorly written and felt like too much of a happy ending. With the amount of trauma they went through for YEARS, there’s no way in hell every single one of them would magically be as okay as they all were. Normally i don’t complain about writing because obviously I’m not a writer myself, but this show has pretty much been my entire childhood and to say that ending was underwhelming is the understatement of the century.

Billy and Henry both being under the control of the Mind Flayer makes Billy's sacrifice so much more meaningful for his character. He fought the mind control and chose the right side. Chose to save the children... He was a lifeguard at heart, chose fighting the monster and ended up giving his life with saying he was sorry under his dying breath that he couldn't be that sooner.

Henry had a choice and he chose to be evil. He chose to be the monster.

Watching the trailer for the new season I can tell that s5 is likely to end with Eddie being remembered by the town as a hero and Dustin having made them all realize who Eddie truly was. Which if that does happen I'll be happy for Eddie and his fans. But at the same time I will always hate how Billy has been treated by this series and the ST fandom as a whole. I mean to this day I still come across posts celebrating Billy's death. When the reality is if not for Billy Max and El (and probably the rest of them) wouldn't have even survived s3. On top of that the Duffers made Billy out to be a monster in s4 so I don't have faith that he'll even get brought up in s5 and if he does I don't expect it to be for something positive.

Billy deserves to be remembered as a hero. He was not a bad person. Bad people don't do what he did (for Max and El). He was an abused, hurting, angry teenager who had never even known a life away from his abusive father. With his only emotional support system having been his mother who abandoned him when he was a little boy. Yes he made mistakes and yes he hurt people but I firmly believe he had the protentional to grow and change for the better if he'd had the chance to get away from the toxic environment he was living in. And most importantly if he'd had just one person in his life who he felt like was on his side. I know some might say well he had Max but he didn't really because the nature of their relationship and how Neil made him responsible for her pitted them against one another.

Tbh I'm contemplating if I even want to watch s5 at this point. I want to see the conclusion to the series but the way Billy was treated in s4 hurt a lot. It's going to hurt in s5 if I have to watch the whole ST crew talk about how much they miss Eddie and how much he helped them against the Upside Down when there has been zero acknowledgement of anything Billy did.
