at the ER with my mom, who is having trouble seeing out of one of her eyes, which is very scary! she’s been here for five hours and I’ve been here for one and a half, left work to keep her company. the doctor doesn’t know what’s up but they don’t think it’s stroke or blood clot related which is good. possibly to do with the retina. anyway we are both very bored and want this to be over and her to be okaaaay.

This happened to me about 5 years ago - it was really scary and lasted about 6 hours. I went to an optometrist, who referred me to an opthamologist. Nobody knew what was going on, then it just went away. I never had any problems after the fact either. Hope your mom is okay!

Since I went fully vegetarian, the only food I’ve missed has been ramen. The meatless ones served at Japanese restaurants I’ve tried have been half-assed at best. I get it, if you can’t boil animal bones for 6 hours it’s probably not really ramen to a traditionalist.

I decided to dedicate a whole weekend to finding a way to make a satisfying recipe of my own, and I think I finally nailed it. If anyone wants ramen without meat (there’s egg in the noodles so it’s not vegan), come to our place. I’m eating it 6 days a week.
