Today. Nov 9. 2016
This morning I woke up shaken from a literal nightmare that had nothing to do with the election. As the details of the nightmare became foggy and merely speckles of memory, the reality of what is ahead of us became overwhelming and unbearable. Then I kicked my feet a bit and felt the warmth of a giant sleeping dog whose perfectly timed breathing calmed me down, I rolled over and saw a sleeping Mike, hugged him tightly, remembering that he reassured me that everything would be okay, in spite of the bullshit. Today, I'm reminded of the blessings I have, that this country is in itself a blessing and that I can't let that be taken from me. Things didn't go my way, so I have to try harder, work harder, and fight for what I believe in. I'm embarrassed and ashamed of the choices we as a country have made, but I'm making it my goal to turn that into something positive and productive. No I don't want to move to Canada (they don't want us anyway, because now is the time our country need us to fight with integrity, intelligence, and most of all kindness and love.

All About That Bass...
So, I just watched the music video for “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor for the first time. - I don’t even know where to begin…Â
She calls women “Skinny bitches”, telling people to “move along” if they’re into that, and insulting every woman who is a “size two”… Seriously?
*Please don’t take this the wrong way…. The other message in the song is so great!  “Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top”. Why on earth didn’t she only focus on this part of the song??? Wouldn’t that have been awesome?
Why do people feel the need to shame others who are unlike them? Why insinuate that the someone who is skinny is automatically a “bitch”? Why suggest that being a size 2 is bad?Â
If you were to reverse this song to promote being skinny, it would be extremely degrading to people who were size12! Do you realize how negative the connotations would be for women who were NOT a size 2?!?! The song would not even be allowed on the radio, and for good reason!
There are some people who were born with bigger body types, there are also women with larger body types. If a woman is healthy and is a size 0, then great! If she is healthy and is a size 18, well that’s great too!Â
I wish the world (especially the media) would stop focusing so much on size, rather than health. Being HEALTHY is what the goal should be! We shouldn’t try to be a certain size. We should focus on being healthy! This mainly includes both exercising and eating healthy. (*cough* Go vegan *cough* *cough* …)Â
Main point- Please stop telling women (especially young, impressionable girls) to care so much about the size of their bodies! Like she said, “Every inch of you is perfect, from the bottom to the top.”
Yesterday, dog met his baby half brother. Dog claimed some toys and puppy fought back ever so carefully. Dog grumbled when pup got too close to the toys in his mouth but then sought him out when he was far away. They are a lovely pair of perfect Berner boys and Dog has a lot to learn in the realm of patience and sharing but I think that just makes him a true older brother. Pup and Dog will be seeing a lot more of each other and I'm so excited for the education of dog and pup to continue. There is so much more adventure and rough and tumble time to be had!! I love these two boys.
Dog, boy and girl adventured through the forest, the land of boulders, cliffs, and quiet creeks. An enchanting journey indeed. Dog bathed in magical glacier water, boy and girl marveled at the view from up top and other patrons admired dog and his less than grand demeanor.
