Blackness is always counterculture and nonblacks always use the aesthetics of Blackness to signify their rebellion from the cultural norm and it’s tiring.
I went to school for fashion merchandising and they literally taught us that in fashion history class. Like, it was literally inside the books and it was validating down to the deepest part of my soul and I actually teared up seeing it there in print like that with criticisms of it and calling it “fetishization”.

[Video description: A mud-covered child in the middle of a muddy field behind a long white single-story house. The child sizes up the puddle in front of them and declares decisively, “I’m gonna hop in this!” They jump, throwing both legs out in front of their torso in a V-shape, landing squarely in a seated sprawl in the mud with a thick heavy *splort*. The person filming snorts and giggles before the video cuts off.]
