Thank you so much for all the love on my previous fanbook illustration! 💕
This illustration will also be included in the fanbook, coming out this August.
I poured lots of love for Digimon into every page, and I hope you’ll enjoy it if you get the chance to pick up a copy! 💛

Rather Be - A Digimon Adventure AMV by zuzsenpai
It's 9PM on a Wednesday so guess what you get to see! The AMV I've been wanting to make for 10 years! It's done! probably! I think!

This summer, I’ll be releasing a full-color Digimon illustration fanbook! 🌼✨
This artwork was originally drawn for the book.
But in the end, I wasn’t fully satisfied with it, so I decided to redraw everything from scratch.
It won’t be included in the final book, but I still put a lot of love and effort into it, so I wanted to share some cropped previews here on Tumblr 🎶
The fanbook is filled with my love for Digimon, and I’d be really happy if you check it out someday! 💛

Keeping it sketchy sketchy
Hiroyuki Kakudou, the director of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, shared on his blog a personal story about a near fatal heart attack last year that required emergency surgery, saying the experience made him rethink projects he hadn't published. In a recent post he said he's been doing much better since his surgery and rehabilitation and his health has improved.
He's now releasing the background story for Digimon Adventure 13+, created for fans who weren't satisfied with the previous movies 02 The Beginning, Last Evolution Kizuna and Tri, which also inspired the 2025 PV Digimon Adventure Beyond.
13+ is set in 2013 and the beginning of Beyond takes place two years earlier (2011), showing what happened before the events that come later in the main story. 13+ develops scenes from Beyond, introduces more characters and explores ideas about how the digital world interacts with the real world and parallel universes, tying in with ideas from the original series.
Kakudou decided to share this material now because, while it was already completed, Toei has no plans to release it officially, so sharing it now allows us to see and understand more of the world he's been building.
I haven't read the two parts he published yet but based on my experience with 02, which felt like a mix of many ideas that didn't always connect and led to that very utopian epilogue without much sense, I can see why Toei might not want to make this official. Still, I'm curious to see his pov and how he interprets the characters from Tri, LEK and 02 The Beginning, even if I'm a bit cautious about how the execution will turn out.
So far, he has published 13+ Part 1 and 13+ Part 2, and I also saw last night that withthewill is posting an english version, which may contain some errors but can help get a sense of what's been released.
We'll have to keep an eye on Kakudou's blog and follow this personal project.
So we're actually getting a novelisation ("13+") of Digimon Adventure Beyond.
Kakudou just posted a blog entry explaining that he has been dealing with serious health issues over the past year and that Digimon Adventure Beyond will likely be his last directorial work.
As nice as it is to finally get news, I am wishing for him and his health to get better soon.
Digimon Adventure 💫
That's the closest I will get to drawing a background
(or finishing this one)
In Digimon Adventure we see that the bond between humans and Digimon in the case of the original 8 chosen children comes from the mission to restore the balance of the Digital World, which had been disrupted by darkness. It's a bond that's directly tied to a system stabilizing function.
02 shows that there are more chosen children all over the world, though not all of them are connected to that same mission or even know about the Digital World, so the bond can exist without that function of restoring balance.
Hurricane Touchdown showed with Chocomon that Digimon can be reborn and that their bond can be reestablished.
In Tri it's shown that bonds are maintained as long as they fit within the balance of the Digital World, and when they stop fitting, the system acts to readjust or reset that stability.
In Last Evolution Kizuna we see that the bond exists as long as both share a path or a mutual need in their lives, and when that disappears, the bond fades even though there's still affection.
The original 8 chosen children are more closely tied to the initial function of balance in the Digital World, so their bond is more sensitive to changes in that condition. Takeru and Hikari, as part of the 02 generation follow a different pattern where the bond doesn't depend on that mission.
From that logic, Taichi, Agumon and the others will meet again when the conditions align once more (I still have hopes for another Digimon Adventure movie or series).
It doesn't matter if in 02 The Beginning the digivices are removed if it's understood that they originally form part of a system that regulates digivolution through the bond, but they're not essential either for the bond or for digivolution itself.
And, since the 02 epilogue suggests that coexistence between humans and Digimon is already stable, there'll come a point where the bond no longer depends on external control like Homeostasis or on a crisis such as the imbalance caused by darkness in the Digital World.
To reach that future of the 02 epilogue… will Diplomat Taichi have managed to "negotiate" any peace treaty?
He reanimated one of my favorite lines from digimon 02
