the premise is of the absolute universe is that the conditions which gave rise to people like batman, superman, wonder woman, etc. have been removed (i.e. batman's not rich, his mom is alive), but they become heroes anyway. it questions what makes a hero be a hero - is a person's circumstances, or their decisions and actions?
its tricky to adapt constantine in this format because he's not really a hero to begin with, and his "powers"/magic are not something was born with and are pretty loosely defined. at his core, he is, by alan moore's definition, a working-class magician.
so instead of questioning what makes him a hero (he's not), i'd focus on what makes him who he is - the working-class magician - and subvert that, then show that even in different circumstances, john would still be, well, kind of a hero, sometimes. absolute constantine would come from wealth - not like, super-rich, but comfortable (reverse absolute batman...). his desire to learn magic comes less from rebellion but more from power-hungry ambition. normal constantine generally hates the government and authority, but absolute constantine respects recognizes it as a way to further himself, and allies himself with the british government as a sorta freelance cunning man, occaisionally offering services to other government or corporate entities.
normally constantine is an asshole, but with good fundemental morals; he's a leftist punk. absolute constantine is more willing to give up his morals if it benefits him, and to preserve what he believes the world should look like - a perspective fostered by his better-off upbringing.
absolute constantine could be introduced incredibly easily into absolute wonder woman. i've wondered how veronica cale managed to detain zatanna, who is really powerful and smart. maybe cale employed constantine's services, on loan from britain, to help capture and contain zatanna. maybe he could be employed again to help cale take down diana once and for all. (absww is already busy with characters imo, so i would honestly not recommend this. but no other ongoing absolute title has much magic in it.....maybe absolute green arrow could be another option, where he's employed to solve the murders/catch the killer like dinah, or a spin-off ala catwoman or cass cain.)
i'd like for him to have a more antagonistic role rather than being forced into heroism to fit the "hero despite it all!" mold. He would be pretty morally gray, but ultimately make some crucial, heroic decision, finally tying him back to normal constantine, who often struggles to make the right decisions, but in the end does, and that's what counts. so he manages to be distinct from his normal comic self, but still becomes a hero eventually, in his own way.
overall, i think he'd be an interesting but challenging character to incorporate into the absolute universe. he's smart enough and has the skills to figure out darkseid's role in it all.
