Martin & Mimi

(We are OP for the flower child picture) This blog is mostly in memory of my Little Martin, who brought me so much joy for the short time he was in my life. Martin now has a legacy that will live on forever in my heart and on tumblr. Introducing my new hedgie: Mimi. I plan on keeping my url the same in memory of Little Martin. But now our blog will feature Mimi and her everyday adventures with me.

Mimi went to heaven on Easter this year with the help of the veterinarians and techs that I work with. She grew weaker every day and stopped walking completely. It hurt me so much to let her go but it was ultimately best for her. Mimi lives as a plant now, just like Martin, and now they can continue their transformation together.

So I don't know how many of you even keep up with this blog anymore but my hedgehog Mimi has become very sick. She stopped eating and drinking about a week ago and stopped using her back legs to walk. I took her to 2 veterinarians and they told me she had lost a significant amout of weight over the past 6 months, and her abdomen felt hard but otherwise she was in good health.

They also said she was the friendliest hedgie they had ever seen! They were able to examine her without any sedation. We did an ultrasound and unfortunately found a mass next to her bladder. ☹

So for now I'm giving her supportive care with syringe feedings and subcutaneous fluids until we get our next appt for more diagnostics. If you can please send Mimi good thoughts! 💗💕
