Book Review: POK POK The Drinking Food of Thailand
As an unashamed fan of everything Andy Ricker does, it is no surprise that I loved this book. I have already cooked from it, and learnt a thing or two about the drinking culture of Thailand. The book is well set out with amazing photos, and easy to cook from. Can't way to dive into this book more and taste all the wonderful recipes!
Book Review: Nourished
A fast read that you don’t want to win! A wonderful memoir with fabulous stories and delicious recipes. Loved every minute of it. Reading Huber’s story of growth and personal development was a pleasure -- there's just enough introspection and questioning to give the reader things they can think about in their own life, too. I particularly appreciated that, unlike many memoirists, Huber didn't disguise her own personal failings and flaws. She is human, relatable, and clearly in possession of a zest for life.
Book Review: How to Set a Table
As someone who's both entertained and provided hospitality for years, I was curious about How to Set a Table. After reading through it several times, I think it’s a great little introduction to having people into your home for meals.
I like how it covers many different situations - different types of picnics, breakfasts, suppers, formal dinners, festivities, movie nights, making guests feel at home. I wish it had a little more information, but it does have it's place, as a quick pick up reference.
Book Review: The Grand Central Market Cookbook
A true blend of cultures, cuisines, old favorites, and new beginnings, the Grand Central Market is one of the most amazing spots in LA. This cookbook by Adele Yellin and Kevin West, celebrates a century of the market serving fabulous food and so much more to longtime residents and to visitors who can’t resist exploring this one-of-a-kind marketplace and food hall. Each of the market’s 38 vendors is featured, including Eggslut’s popular “Slut,” which features coddled eggs with potato puree served in a mason jar; Sticky Rice’s Thai barbecue chicken; Horse Thief BBQ’s Nashville-Style Hot Fried Chicken and more. Book Review: Cherry Bombe
This a cookbook for the ladies! So many great bakers, chefs, and extraordinary women getting the credit they deserve. Love it! The recipes are a wonderful collection from some of my favorite people like Molly Yeh, Jessica Kosklow from Sqirl, and more! Would highly recommend!
Book Review: Vibrant India
This cookbook is beautiful! I was so excited when it came in the mail last week. I eat a primarily vegetarian diet during the week, and this cookbook is filled with new and interesting veggie recipes. I have always enjoyed eating Indian food out, but as the author shares in the introduction, most of the Indian restaurants in the US feature the cuisine of Northern India. While I love all those rich curries and dishes, the Southern Indian recipes in this cookbook feature meals that are lighter, healthier, and full of fresh ingredients. I loved exploring Southern Indian cuisine through this book!

Book Review: Dinner by Melissa Clark
Absolutely love this cookbook by Melissa Clark. Making dinner during the week is rough, especially when you want to combine “simple” with “delicious” and “exciting.” This cookbook combines new recipes with flavorful ingredients and easy how-to techniques. I love the way the main ingredient chapters are organized: chicken, meat, fish & seafood, pasta & noodles, tofu, beans, legume & vegetables, rice, farro, quinoa & other grains, pizza & pies, soups, salads, dips, and spreads. It makes it easy to plan delicious meals and gives you so many options for quick and tasty dinners. Would highly recommend this book.
Book Review: 32 Yolks
This is the surprisingly well-told story of the making of the famous Le Bernardin chef. I’ve seen him on cooking shows like Anthony Bourdain before but had never heard his story. it was an interesting look at what brought him to where he is. Like most people who are passionate about their work, the driving force of his life began in childhood and never faltered. It’s amazing to see how talented people like himself can persevere and become the people the are meant to be.
Book Review: Lucky Peach Power Vegetables!
Who knew vegetables could be so dope? Lucky Peach does it again. Not only is their cookbook a fun and different twist on some of the same ol’ cookbooks you see in Barnes & Noble, but the recipes are fun, quirky and delicious. Just the way I like them.
Book Review: Amaro
My bar cart is one of my favorite spots in the house so I’m always looking for new ways to up my cocktail game, whether it’s with the latest trends or a new liquor.
This book, “Amaro: The Spirited World of Liqueurs” by Brad Thomas Parsons was just the book I needed to brings some life and knowledge to my cocktail game.
In Italy, they have a tradition of making bittersweet liqueurs called Amaro and recently these very herbaceous spirits have landed in the U.S and have become an important added ingredient to cocktails. One that I’m very excited about!
This book provides a huge section of flavor profiles followed by over a hundred pages of cocktail recipes & amaro desserts that I was instantly drooling over. The amaro sour, a bourbon negroni, these are all going into my cocktail repertoire. Would highly recommend this book for those who are looking for a new way to add some pizazz to their cocktail making skills.
Book Review: Spritz
Whenever I have a spritz, it automatically takes me back to my time in Italy. As soon as the afternoon came around, you would see people start to congregate around the terraces and bar patios around the city, sipping an aperol spritz as they chatted with friends. I always thought of it as a nice reflection of the day and a start to a wonderful evening. This book encompasses this feeling. There are so many beautiful and delicious recipes that will inspire a spritz lover out of you. And hey, who ever said no to day drinking?
Book Review: Food52 Baking
I love cookbooks and love a lot of what Food52 has put out, but I got to say was not a fan of Food52 Baking. The recipes seemed very generic and not all that interesting. It's a good basic cookbook if you don't have one of those, but I think there is definitely more interesting cookbooks on baking out there if you really want to impress people with your cakes & treats.

It's crazy to think that a year ago today I was on my way to Paris. I somewhat imagined what it would be like living there, but what I received during those four months exceeded all my expectations. The memories, the people, and the growth I experienced there will be forever engrained on my heart. Until we meet again, Paris.
I can barely contain myself right now. 4 hours before I'm reunited with my Parisian loves, Aubrey and Caitlin. SO FREAKIN HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!
