"Andor Sterling"? [Nikko asked before humming. Honestly? He didn't hate it.] ...Were you serious?
Oh, breakfast sounds wonderful. It's been quite the morning.

Oh, hey, Andor woulda been a good one too. Awesome Star Wars show. [Sam grinned.] You wanna go get some quick breakfast?
For post-cesarean Spencer? Not really. To meet our babies? Absolutely.
Oh, no one's ready for that. [Sam laughed.] I'm definitely excited for our babies though.
[Around that time, a nurse for Spencer's OBGYN took control of Spencer's wheelchair. She quickly explained that due to Spencer's labor already starting and her clear, damn-near inconsolable anxiety, they were electing to give her general anesthesia for the C-section rather than the spinal block they would give during a normal procedure. Without much of a chance for a back-and-forth on the subject, she gave Sam and Nikko a room number to meet them in and carted (a still panicking) Spencer off in the opposite direction to get her to an anesthesiologist.]
...For what it's worth, I think the horse analogy was a good try, [Nikko whispered to his husband once they were standing in the hallway alone.]
[Sam found Nikko's hand with his own, interlocking their fingers. He smiled over at him.] Thanks, babe. You ready for this?
Wh-... What if it isn't?!
It is! I have delivered lots of babies with the good outcomes far outweighting the bad, and the great news is... you're not a horse, so you've got even better odds. [Sam joked, mostly for himself since he was positive no one else would appreciate it right now.]
Seriously. Everything's gonna be okay. Trust the doctors, and trust yourself, Spence. You got this.
[By the time they made it to the hospital, Nikko had managed to calm Spencer down the tiniest amount. She was still distraught, but at least she wasn't completely inconsolable anymore.]
They... They're gonna cut me open! [She sobbed, even as Nikko led her to the wheelchair and sat her down.] This-- This-- This is terrifying!
Spence, people get cut open here every day. For many reasons. [Sam reminded her gently as he pushed the chair.] The doctors know what they're doing. Everything is going to be good, I know it.
Okay. Okay, [Nikko said.] I can do that.
[Sam called the doctor and then got his husband and his best friend into their car so they could go to the hospital. He pulled up at the front and went to retrieve a wheelchair so he could get her up to labor and delivery.]
Alright, your chariot has arrived.
...Th... Thank you... [Spencer hiccupped.]
[Around that time, Nikko finally came back with everything they'd need to help Spencer.] Okay. Okay.
I have towels, absorbent underwear, and the 'go' bag all packed. Now all we need to do is call the doctor and a get downstairs. Sam, I'm thinking we take my car but you drive? The truck's pretty high. It'd be hard to get Spence in and back out.
Sounds good. I'll call the doctor now. Why don't you help Spence with her leg, babe.
[Spencer sniffled wildly and held her arms out for a hug. God, she was gonna need it.]
[Sam wrapped his arms around her and held her against his chest.] I've got ya. You're not gonna do this alone. I'll be by your side the whole time.
I'm--! I'm--! I'm scared!
i know. And it's okay to be scared. But I'm not. Because I know you can do this. So just focus on me and borrow all the bravery you need.
[While Nikko was busy gathering things, Spencer was increasingly inconsolable.] I don't--! I can't--! I can't do this!
[Sam sat on the edge of the bed and laid a hand on Spencer's knee.] You absolutely can. Endless numbers of kick ass women have done this and you are as kick ass as they come.
[Nikko's eyes went wide.] What? Right now?!
I-- I'll get towels and the 'go' bag! [He called, already turning around to run back off.] Can you call the doctor so he knows we're coming?
That was my next plan, yeah. [Sam assured him, pulling his phone out as he went to stand near Spencer again.] That and keep you both from having an aneurysm before we get there.
I... I-I...! I'm gonna b-be sick! [Spencer sobbed out. The panic and fear were definitely not being helped by the pregnancy hormones.]
[Sam grabbed the nearby waste basket and put it up on the bed. He went to stand in the doorway and shout, afraid to leave her actually alone.] Lai! Wake up!
[Nikko shocked awake and scrambled into the hallway wearing nothing but a pair of boxers.] What?! What happened?!
Spencer's water broke. [Sam explained, surprisingly calmly.]
I... I-I...! I'm gonna b-be sick! [Spencer sobbed out. The panic and fear were definitely not being helped by the pregnancy hormones.]
[Sam grabbed the nearby waste basket and put it up on the bed. He went to stand in the doorway and shout, afraid to leave her actually alone.] Lai! Wake up!
[Spencer held her hands out and shook her head wildly.] I'm not-- I'm not ready! [She sobbed.] I was supposed to have 3 more days!
Spence, I love you, but three more days were not gonna make you magically ready. You've got this, no matter what happens, okay?
[Even with Sam's record speed, by the time he made it to the room, Spencer was already sitting in her ...very wet... bed in inconsolable tears.] M-My... My w-water broke!
Okay, alright. [He and Nikko had discussed the possibility of this happening. He just needed to be awake enough to focus.] You've got to breathe. I'll call your doctor and we'll get you to the hospital. I've got to wake Lai up. How is he not awake?
[The C-section was scheduled for Monday at 2PM. All Spencer had to do was make it until 2PM on Monday.
But. Much like just about every other aspect to this hellish experience, things just weren't meant to go Spencer's way.
In the wee hours of Saturday morning, a bloodcurdling screech of:] S-SAM! [rattled through the Smythe-Hart/Evans townhome from Spencer's room.]

[Sam shot up in bed, adrenaline immediately flowing through his veins. Intruder? No, worse. ...Spencer.
He hopped out of bed and hurried into her room.] What? What's wrong?
