jane x lisbon is so funny. imagine you’re hunting down the serial killer who killed your wife and child and turned your life upside down. over the decade it takes for you to kill the guy back, you’re working for the cops and you’re sort of partners with this incredible, smart, hot, awesome woman. so of course you fall in love with her, but you can’t really do anything about it because 1. not over your dead wife 2. she’s technically your boss. so you kinda flirt with her, you buy her a pony, but you don’t cross a line. you do tell her you love her in a particularly risky scheme to catch the serial killer but it doesn’t work so you walk it back later. finally ten years after your family got killed you get the guy and kill him back. except now you’re on the run because you murdered a guy. so you spend two years in venezuela, until the fbi tracks you down and offers you a deal: they will drop the charges if you work for them. you agree, but only if they give your boss/partner/crush a job. she’s thankful about it but she also (rightfully) is mad at you that you think you can just change her career like that after two years of near-radio silence. so you both work for the fbi now and she’s not your boss anymore but you both kinda need time to get used to the new dynamic before you can say “hey queen i’ve been in love with you for like ten years” even though everyone keeps mentioning how they thought you guys would’ve gotten together years ago.

and then she starts dating pedro pascal.

patrick jane truly is a character of all time. he's arrogant. he's broken. he's haunted. he's funny. he's genuinely delighted by small pleasures. he likes breaking and entering. he's a tea snob. he's tortured frequently on screen. he flinches every time a gun goes off. he hides behind his female colleagues when he gets scared. he's a sociopath. he's a liar. he does magic tricks. he has basically no moral compass and will do anything to catch the guy who killed his wife and child, including lie to and use everyone he cares about. he sleeps on a mattress on the floor in the room his family was murdered in, with the calling card of their killer still on the wall. he loves children. he's very empathetic. he's the reason his family is dead. he loves setting traps and catching people in lies. he hates rich people and doesn't care when they get murdered. he's a card shark. he always knows what everyone is thinking. when people piss him off he makes their lives miserable. he hypnotises people all the time. he's a con man. he's the most honest guy you'll ever meet. like literally where else do you find a freak like that.

LISTEN. do i live in the kingdon clouds? HELL yeah. however, if we get ONE thing next season, i beg beg beg of thee to make it Mel feeling desirable. I want her getting a ridiculous amount of matches on dating apps even if she isn't talking to any of them. I want to see her getting hit on by new staff and cool patients, even if she flirts demurely just for a little attention. I want Mel to wear a high ponytail and to have people shes been working with for months go... OKAYYY MELISSAAA???? I want getting comfy with her confidence era Mel King, Smug Mel King, advocating more for herself Mel King. (and do i think someone in particular, a good friend of hers perhaps, should notice all of this and be particularly interested in it? who's to say)

Listen. Do I have a deep in my bones would bet money on it feeling we will eventually get a snippet insinuating kingdon is canon in however many seasons? Yes, I genuinley do.

That being said, will I also be perfectly fine if those nerds stay besties for the resties??? ESPECIALLY if they only present as besties in this next season? YES. Some of the vitriol people have for this specific ship is Mind blowing to me, and the assumption that we will riot in the streets if we don’t get them making out next season is … very interesting 🤨

Like baby we got the best of the best out here pushing out fic after fic after fan art after collage after playlist… I love the show but the PEOPLE are who keep us fed. (Shout out kingdon nation) I can read about my wife and her dumb boyfriend falling in love over 3000 times in countless different scenarios over and over. Do I believe they’re setting them up to be canon? Yeah, tbh I do. And I will feel really smug if I’m right. But will I be so fine if they don’t? Also yeah! I just think it’s really interesting how much hate Kingdon shippers gets, and for what..?

the kingdon finale scene is the buzziest scene of all time for many reasons but to me one of the things that makes it so special is the simple decision to have them walk across and out of the ambulance bay to turn and FACE the hospital as a unit. like???? each conversation in the ambulance bay takes them further away from the ED walls, mirroring the increased emotion and intimacy in the interactions. and to see them from behind as a unit facing the building full of problems and despair TOGETHER while FIREWORKS EXPLODE ABOVE as their finishing shot is just out of control. kingdon is ridiculously canon and i’ve been a shipper since day mf 1 but the finale was when i was like “oh shit there’s literally no chance they can get out of this without kingdon canon”

SPOILERS FOR THE PITT EP: 9!!!!!

No, because how much does Mel trust Langdon really? I mean she doesn’t see him for ten months. TEN!! Literally two months short of a year. No one says where he went and if they do, she doesn’t believe them because she wants to hear it from him first hand. You know dang well all the allegations or assumptions weren’t very kind either. And when he tells her the truth, that he was in rehab because of his addiction to benzos she’s still kind to him and understanding and listens to him. She reassures him that he never let her down.

BUT THAT ASIDE—Mel’s entire life revolves around her sister, Becca—see the Ep with Liam when he was asking about Mel and she immediately talked about Becca—Mel doesn’t start or end her day without taking care of Becca and she doesn’t even get through it without at least calling once.

To trust a man—whom she met for one day and forms the bones of a connection with, only to not see him for ten whole ass months—with her sister whom is her entire world, life and love wrapped up into one person, is just insane.

It’s a good insane but it’s still wild to me because Langdon, honey, you mean so much to her.

AND she trusted him to care for Becca. Not just watch her or anything simple. But to care for her. While she is in obvious pain and slight distress AND while Mel can’t be present to partake in said care because she has to deal with something else.

Like please, please, please tell me yall see what I’m getting at with this. I love them so bad.

mel instantly arguing that she doesn't need a break but langdon seeing right through her and saying "yes you do" and her automatically listening. langdon was genuinely the ONLY person who saw through mel and saw how hard she was working. even robby didn't see it (which isn't that surprising let's be honest) but robby didn't get why mel was taking a break. and at the same time, nobody really knows that mel takes care of her sister besides langdon because he is the only one who asked about her and listened.
