Going green! Film projects are a new way of the operatic arts in this house.
I want to learn more about opera. Where do i start?
What part of Opera are you interested in? Singing? Tech?
There are so many places to start for both. I know when I started getting into Opera I took a lot of time just looking into the many Opera Houses/Companies around the country and world. That led me to see the different repertoires that companies we’re doing, then that led me to research different shows.
You quickly learn that there are a lot of similar shows which I would say are the “people favorites” your Butterfly’s, your Bohème’s those bring in the money in most places.
Moving forward Opera is just bigger. After seeing regular theatre, nothing beats the grandiose, gigantic sets of Opera.
Then of course it’s all about the music, right. I can still remember the first time I worked on an Opera. (The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein at the Santa Fe Opera) hearing the tune of the Orchesta and the first downbeat was like magic, I had chills and I was hooked to the industry.
I’m sure I could go on. If you have specific interests I am happy to follow up! If there’s something I don’t know, I’m happy to find the answer!
Thanks!
Opera is looking a little “different” lately
