Donald and Daisy are just the cutest 😊
Reading “Never Eat Alone” tonight while snuggling with Buzz. Friday nights might not consist of going out anymore, but I’ve got the will and determination to turn this journey into a lifelong career. Trying to soak up all the knowledge I can 📚📖
Pre-arrival information.
So I was chatting with Rebecca today and she reminded me that I never posted about my first week. However, before I talk about how my first two weeks have gone at work, I want to do something of a “things I wish I knew” list. Before moving to Florida, there were tons of expenses coming out of my parents and my pocket, it was hard to believe how expensive moving can be. Here’s a list of things I wish I had saved for before moving to Florida.
1. Deposit for your apartment - mine ended up being $400.
2. Pet deposit (if applicable.
3. Gas money/food money for the drive down. About $300 from Virginia to Florida in an SUV.
4. UTILITY BILL DEPOSITS. My new electric company required a deposit the amount of the past two months bills if you hadn’t been paying for utilities for at least 24 months, so obviously Sammy and myself had to pay the deposit. It ended up being ~$300 dollars! I don’t know how the people before us ended up using $150/month worth of electricity, but this was a cost I expected to be much smaller when budgeting to move.
5. Home decor. This may make me sound like a bit of a brat but I promise it’s just my Type A personality coming out. When I moved in, I wanted to have my apartment completely decorated before starting work. Simply because I knew I would be completely exhausted from working all the time and I wouldn’t want to decorate later on down the road. However, this meant spending a lot of money up front to decorate on things that I technically could have gone a couple of months without. I’m glad I decorated though because when I get home the last thing I want to do is go out and run errands all night long. And now I come home to a comfy home that I enjoy spending time in.
6. Not getting a paycheck your first two weeks. I wish I had saved more money to live off of for my first couple weeks since the first week I only worked 4.5 hours and then it was another week until my full paycheck came in. I began working on June 10th and I just got my first large paycheck for 40 hours of week today, June 25th. Again, another expense I hadn’t really thought of in the process of getting ready to move.
All-in-all, I would say that my moving experience could have been a lot worse, just ask my DCP roommate Khalee. I could not have done any of it without my friends and family so HUGE thank you to them (mom, dad, Nina, Papa, Lauren, Sammy, and Hayley for keeping me sane).
My next post will be about my first couple of weeks at work so keep your eyes peeled!

First Week.
Hi friends! This first week of my Professional Internship is coming to a close, I have so many things to post, I am going to sit down tomorrow night and write up an extremely detailed post tomorrow and/or make a vlog. I’m hopefully going to write in this journal once a week, I am so happy, exhausted (good exhausted), and reflective about where my career is headed.
Stay tuned for more info coming tomorrow.
Peace, love, and Disney <3
do you get paid for the professional internship? also do they offer any housing options or do you have to find those on your own?
You do get paid for Disney Professional Internships! :) Depending on your role, your pay will vary. They have a housing option with the apartment complex Falcon Square which is near Magic Kingdom, but it is very limited and is first come first served. Hope this helps! :D
Casting.
OFFICIALLY A REHIRE OF THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY.
It may seem so silly, but today I was so excited to get to Casting and fill out paperwork. That’s right - paperwork. Sammy (my roommate) and I both had an appointment for 1 p.m. so naturally we got to Casting at 12:30 p.m. and got in line. Most of the Disney recruiters for Internships were there and it was nice to finally put faces to names! I met my recruiter John Stephenson and he was so nice!
We were explained the process of the day - background checks, Disney look guidelines, and i-9 documentation. We moved from one step to the next and the whole process probably took an hour.
It was such a different feeling being back in that building again, not overwhelmed, just strictly excitement fluttering throughout my body. It was so surreal. I didn’t realize how much I missed being a part of this company until I was reinserted back into the culture. It truly is a Disney family and I’m proud to be a member.
Just attempting to float like a majestical mermaid and it failing epically.
Finally made it to my new home <3 (Don’t judge me I’m uploading old pictures - this was 2 weeks ago lol)
Hey there! Me again :) So I'm still in Maymester doing grad school, but I've starting looking into the professional internship a little more. I have a few questions! First, do you know how competitive it is for recent grads? Also, what is the application process like/what are the basic steps? Last one! Where can I actually apply? I've been all over that website and for some reason I can't find how to actually apply for it! Thanks! :)
Hi there! :)
Professional internships are usually quite competitive, you have thousands applying for PIs and most departments only take one intern (with the exception of larger areas like guest relations and animal sciences, etc). You can find the applications on www.disneyinterns.com! They might not be up yet, since Fall 2015 is just starting up, I imagine the Spring 2016 applications haven’t been released yet! But keep your eye out! I stalked the website constantly :)
The application process for myself was about 6 weeks long and it was the longest 6 weeks of my life, no lie! First, you apply online. Then if based on your application/resume/cover letter they think you could be a good candidate, you will get a general phone screen from an HR representative who isn’t related to the department you’re applying for. They will take notes and send them along to the individual recruiter for the department you’re applying for. Depending on the department, the next steps can vary. Some departments don’t require any additional interviews and simply hire based off the general phone screen. My department had two additional interviews, so it really all depends!
I hope this helps! ✌🏽️💖&Disney
FIRST VLOG OF MY PI YAYAY!!! Can't wait to share all my new experiences as a Professional Intern! I hope seeing my journey helps future interns as well :) Feel free to ask me any questions you may have along the way! Peace, love, and Disney ✨ ~Sarah~
I haven't been on my Disney blog in quite some time, but I guess that's all about to change since I'll be starting a Professional Internship on June 10th. This whole process has been absolutely tormenting waiting to hear if my career with Disney would begin again, but so rewarding when I received that phone call from John asking me if I'd accept the offer. I have been on Cloud 9 for the past few days letting it sink in that I am going to be working in Disney Corporate. Just when you start to lose hope, the pixie dust comes back in and proves why you've worked so hard for this. I'm feeling extra magical today and always ✨

chasing your dreams is scary.
are PI applications starting to stress anyone else out yet?!
gotta keep on the grind and get these in by monday night.
My ask box is always open to any questions you guys have about the DCP, but incase you want some more “official” answers to your questions, Disney is hosting a Q&A about applying on Feb 5th! Just thought I’d pass the info along! I’m still wishing the best of luck to anyone applying for Fall 2015!
