Thinking about how different Superman & Lois would be if Martha didn’t die - instead her stroke meant she became a wheelchair user. She could’ve been hugely valuable in Lois & Clark learning to be better parents, not to mention her arc WRT rehab would’ve been great. Bonus: Martha could be mayor.

Well, you’ve got a bigger responsibility, to your family. The boys need to see what a strong and loving and vulnerable man looks like. Like your father was for you. You only have them for a short while longer, you’ve gotta be present.

She might’ve had speech issues, meaning many of the parenting mistakes in-canon, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t effect how/if + when they resolved by being alive.

Every time I think of working on this one fic (of this show) I’d been writing, I remember I gotta rewatch canon to do it, and so. I never finish it.

So, at some point I just. forgot to watch the rest of the final season. Then never finished it. So, yeah, I still haven’t seen the last episodes. The reason I finally came back to this blog is because of a song that reminded me of Jon.

Okay, what I don’t understand is…why didn’t Luthor trick Candice’s father into using Kryptonite bullets? Or a bullet. Obviously Clark wouldn’t have been able to dodge while acting like he’s just a civilian, and I doubt Luthor wasn’t timing things for Clark to be in public. Clark getting hit means he’d need immediate medical attention, which could’ve risked revealing his secret, but if not, a special bullet might’ve meant Clark died. Again. Like, it definitely took time for Candice’s father to drive to Smallville, right? Luthor didn’t just call him up right after the four of them arrived in the diner; he had to have brought Emmitt to SV ahead of time, waiting for a good opportunity, so he could’ve prepared a weapon beforehand.

Btw, Jon walking through the fire, that was definitely a reference to his comic book power reveal moment, right? ‘Cause that’s where my mind immediately went, and I was exuberant.

Tbh, I was hoping if Candice ever found out the secret that she’d be like, even though I’m cool with you being a hybrid, this is the kind of relationship I can’t handle, I’m sorry Jon, and they break up amicably, then later Jon tells Jordan he knew it would would go this way eventually, they just weren’t right for each other, but he thought he’d wait until Candice was ready to let go; or something like that.

I’ve been trying to find a gifset of Jon & Clark flying together, or just any scene of Jon flying, but I? haven’t?? found any???

I love Superman’s origin story because it is the perfect thematic basis for his powerful belief in the potential goodness of people.  

Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van sending their son to Earth alone was an ultimate gamble on the goodness of strangers. They sent their only son – The Last Son of Krypton – to Earth as a desperate attempt to give him a chance to survive. Everything they were, everything that they could have been, was swaddled in a blanket sent off into the unknown in a ship the size of a cradle. And they knew baby Kal-El would be unable to survive by himself, that his only hope was that some strangers from another distant world find him and respond not with fear or paranoia or hatred, but with love. 

And in a thousand cynical stories Kal-El would have been stolen away by government scientists, or killed, or abandoned, or died alone in the fields of Kansas. But this is Clark Kent’s story and in it his parents' desperate faith in the goodness of strangers was rewarded. The Kents found him. This very ordinary and very human couple found a baby in an alien ship well beyond their technological understanding and decided to react not with suspicion but with kindness. 

They saw him not as a potential extraterrestrial threat but as an alone baby who needed help. They raised him like their own, with all the love and kindness they could give. They responded to his inhuman or even dangerous powers not with fear or rejection, but with understanding and endless support. And they taught him his values of helping others, the importance of assisting those weaker, lost, or more alone than yourself. 

And with this in mind how could this Superman – the product of the ultimate act of hope and the kindness with which it was met – not believe in the potential for goodness of everyone? How could he not believe that, despite everything, this big wide world is inherently kind?

Oh yeah, so I guess the show’s back now? I have not been keeping up with it, for my own peace-of-mind, but someone please tell me if there’s been any improvement with it. Without spoilers, please.

Oh yeah, so I guess the show’s back now? I have not been keeping up with it, for my own peace-of-mind, but someone please tell me if there’s been any improvement with it. Without spoilers, please.

Sorry but was scene this supposed to be funny? If so, I think they should have used a different take because Jon looks hella uncomfortable here. But also, the idea of a a high-school football coach spending months holding a grudge against one of his old players despite all his efforts to earn his forgiveness and then getting super close and tries to intimidate him is just... ugh.

And then there's the later scene where he makes Jon think he's gonna finally acknowledge him and it turns out to be a fakeout, Jon looks so disappointed and annoyed and Jordan literally laughs! But hey... "Fraternals Forever" right?

I have to be honest…that was disappointing. Most of the ep. just felt like we were waiting; waiting for all the ‘civilian’ scenes to pass, to get to the ‘real’ episode, except it kinda just, kept going. And going. Sprinkled in with like, Luthor being Luthor. Then, y’know, ~action~
