neytiri sits at the edge of the water, both hands resting behind her body to hold herself steady as her legs dangle in the twinkling bioluminescence of the pond. at her feet is jake, kneeling in the water as he rubs his wife’s feet and legs.
“how’s this feel, baby? any better?” jake asks, looking up at neytiri with a gentle smile.
“yes, this is much better, beloved.” neytiri raises a hand to rest on her protruded stomach, gently rubbing along her striped cerulean skin. “he is very active today.”
“how can you tell?” jake asks. he’s curious, still trying to comprehend how the little life they created is thriving inside of her.
neytiri reaches for jake’s hand, guiding it to her abdomen. she holds her hand on top of his, watching as his face lights up from the tiny kicks of their son.
“that’s him?……holy shit!” jake exclaims, instantly bringing his face closer to his wife’s belly. “that’s one hell of a kick.”
neytiri laughs, nodding. “yes. he does this often, especially when he hears your voice.”
jake presses his cheek to his wife’s belly, grinning from ear to ear as he feels the skin on skin contact from his unborn son.
“hey, baby boy.” jake says softly, as his hand brushes over neytiri’s skin. “if you can hear me in there, just know, your mother and i are real excited to meet you.”
neytiri beams at the sight before her. “he is strong, just like his father.”
jake shakes his head, planting a kiss to his wife’s belly before sitting up. “not as strong as you, baby.”
