Practice - Smoke
Just what i did today trying to learn how to make realistic smoke but this is my results not as real as i oped but better then nothing. The reason am trying to learn this is because of a plan for an image am making I set my self the challenge to do so, also its to keep me busy, since I have no work left to do. So Practice is the best to do in my spar time.
Some Ideas for the Sssh! Salford Secret logo but I think the logo may already been sorted. But it was good practice.
NMP - Children Book Illustration
Finished the 4 Double page Spreads and decided to turn it in to an PDF and place it on my Ipad. The results looks better then I expected and works well. Hope Printed versions will turn out better.
NMP - Children's Book Illustration
A colour test. Am testing the colours using a minimal pallet like of 3 or 4 colours and testing it on different paper textures.
After seeing some nice typography and designs on tumblr for the Salford Show (even tho am not helping out with it) I just decided to just throw one in there. I havent done much typography since i started doing illustration in the second year of uni. (Its funny how i get so motivated to do work at 2 o'clock in the morning.)
NMP - Children Book
3 double page spreads of the children book but feel disappointed in them because of water colour paint on a large scale drawing didn't turn out as I hoped. I think I underestimated how hard it would of been to water colour and i hoped it would turn out like the ones in my sketch book. Need to get my hands on the A3 scanners at uni to do some editing on them.
NMP - Children Book Double Page Spred
This is one double page spred inked and my favorite out of the lot these are ready to be coloured and finalized. All thats left is to add water colour in the same way i did with another image i posted of the colour test.
NMP - Dummy Book
Two pages from the dummy children's book. The scans didn't turn out will because of the I use a H3 pencil. Finalization is going well just a few more.
Practice - Illustration
Some more practice heads from the side this is number 3 and number 7. Yes i have 4,5 and 6 but they to big for my scanner (need and A3 scanner). Number 3 is one of my best and the ones in between these 2 aren't as good and number 7 is the first one i inked. I need to make then next ones more interesting looking like number 3.
I came across this website while I was planning things for the future and this wil answer a lot of questions. Also it has some dummy briefs to help build a portfolio.
ProCon3 - Website
This is an idea from my website layout. The lay out is compact to keep everything simple and on one page, the colours is to help what things are: red being fror images, blue being for 'about me' and the little gray section at the bottom of the 'about me' box is if you click it opens up a light box with a business card for print or save to desktop.
The red spaces is the images with one box in the middle and small boxes around it. The idea here to hover over the smaller images and a small preview appears in the middle box when clicked a light box opens with a high rez version.
'Gilgamesh' thats just the name I use for online gaming but it fits quite well there but not being the final name used.
Further developments will be a gallery page as small gallery space will get full up quite fast and buttons to link to stuff like blogs or other social websites.
*Idea* With the small compact layout it looks more suited for Ipads and other touch screen tablets because of the size of the buttons.
Practice
The above image was done at 3am while for some funny resone my concentration and motivation was sky high for some odd resone and Just got the urge to draw.
The one below is the one i did today just to see if I can do it again but this time at 1pm, around this times is when my motivation is lower. Maybe being a little tired helps.
The character design for the Macmillan children book. It is off the king and some of of the small ones. Used fineliner and water colour as i never used water colour effectively before.

NMP - Children Book
After talking to Robert about my idea for the children book I showed him some of my drawings form my sketch book, which you can see above. The big character is the King and the smaller ones are his sons and daughters. Me and Robert think it is a stronger idea then the marshmallow boy but shouldn't give up on it. So for the next two weeks I am to do a small book of my marshmallow boy to get a warm up of creating a story.
