Robot Monster Reboot
Ever watch a movie that so bad it’s not even “bad good”? Robot Monster is one of those movies. What is especially bothersome is that Robot Monster is probably the coolest name for a movie in the history of movies. How can you have such a cool name and be so terrible?
Anyway, it’s scifi film from 1953 about an alien who’s been sent down to kill the last 8 remaining humans on earth. He then proceeds to kill a bunch of children and throw some people off cliffs. Then he causes an earthquake that releases a bunch of dinosaurs. SOUNDS GREAT SO FAR, RIGHT?
But then one of the kids turns out to not be dead, he wakes up from a concussion and the whole thing was JUST A DREAM.
So that said, when I got to pick a movie to redesign for a school project, I figured I couldn’t possibly make this one any worse than it already was.
Here’s the original design:
First off, I though it would be more interesting if he was sent down to kill the last remaining human, but it turned out to be a really scrappy, badass kid. The robot monster likes the kid too much to kill him, so they team up instead, and the monster protects him from the rest of the aliens who want to kill him.
In the original movie the robot monster is just some kind of apeish looking beast, so I decided to emphasize his gorilla-esque stature. I kept the design of the helmet, because that is the most iconic thing about the character, but I make it a little more intricate.
Here’s the final design.
Can someone please remake this movie now, so it can live up to how cool it’s name is?
That looks awesome! Yeah, it reminds me of Minion, too.
