truscum: we arenât talking about dysphoria, weâre talking about gender dysphoria, theyâre completely different!
authors of the diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria: we advocated for calling it âgender dysphoriaâ because âdysphoriaâ always means âdistressâ in psychiatry and we wanted it to make sure that no one missed out on the fact that weâre specifically talking about distress with this diagnosis (sci-hub pdf), but just in case that wasnât enough we also put an additional explicit âdistress or impairmentâ requirement into the final diagnostic criteria for both adults and children, because we think itâs that important that our audience understands that weâre talking about a type of actual dysphoria/distress when we talk about âgender dysphoria.â
He's right and he's also living his dream... Truly the man is an icon. đđœđ„ș

Never forget that sesame street was made for children in urban city areas who's parents couldn't afford preK in order to help bridge the knowledge gap.
Just so we are clear, yall dont want to be called "bi hets" but will turn around and call urselves "bi lesbians" and ignore decades of lgbt history and particularly bisexual activism?
if i see one more dumbass californian on facebook insisting that dude is a gender neutral term iâm going to lose it
straight men will say dude is a gender neutral term but if you ask them how many dudes theyâve fucked they act disgusted. so which way is it huh.
i fucking hate to make an ace discourse post in 20 fucking 20 but it really needs to be said and i KNOW this is gonna come off as a smarmy âi told you so postâ
but iâve been on twitter recently and there is a fucking DELUGE of people promoting the idea of âbisexual lesbiansâ (never bisexual gay men but like⊠thatâs a tangential dialogue for another time). this idea that you can be bisexual and a lesbian at the same time is a direct product of the split attraction model.
this is the EXACT shit i was talking about when I said rhetoric from ace community is not compatible, at all, with the LGBT community.
sexualizing the -sexual suffix so âbisexualâ SOLELY means âSEXUALLY attracted to the opposite genderâ so someone can be bisexual and âhomoromanticâ is ACTIVELY harmful to lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals. it sexualizes bisexuals without consent and COMPLETELY redefines what gayness is so it can include attraction to the âoppositeâ gender.
and this is just one example of how ace inclusionânot just the inclusion of cisgender, straight aces but also the prioritization of ace idealsâhurts the LGBT community. the rhetoric that you can have sex with people you arenât attracted to to âmake it workâ romantically is conversion therapy rhetoric. Ace inclusion makes it seem like the LGBT community is about our relationships to sex when that just isnât true. Ace inclusion means âdesexualizingâ LGBT spaces so as not to upset asexuals. All this shit AND MORE is happening in real time and Iâve watched it get worse and worse, hand in hand with the commercialization of LGBT pride and the liberalization of LGBT activism.
ace rhetoric is eroding LGBT identities. the idea of the âbisexual lesbianâ and other mogai microidentities where you parse every single aspect of your identity into a different label is actively harming vulnerable LGBT people.
and, no, this isnât me saying âeven LGBT aces have to go,â but this is me saying that putting ace identities at the forefront of ANY LGBT discussions leaves a lot of space for harm for LGBT people. and that any fucking ace rhetoric besides âitâs okay to not feel sexual attraction or want to have sexâ comes at the expense of LGBT identity.
genuinely, the concept of âbisexual lesbianâ is a direct product of the ace community and it has caused lesbians and bisexual women irreparable harm. and aces should be ashamed of this because this is what they have been defending for years.
this is the EXACT shit we said would come out of the split attraction model and now we have TEENAGERS telling strangers and adults âiâm sexually attracted to [x genders] but only romantically into [y]â and yâall think this is okay. even if it werenât fucking INSANE to say lesbians can be attracted to men or that bisexuals can be half gay or half straight, youâd STILL be out of fuckng line having KIDS center identities around SOLELY sexual attraction.
iâm ripshit pissed
i am saying this with everything i haveâthere is NOTHING positive to come out of the ace community that couldnât have been identically accomplished by simply saying âyou donât ever have to want sex, you donât owe anyone sex, itâs okay to not sexually desire anyoneâ which is shit feminism has already been doing.
love the recognition that the SAM is still bullshit even when its only applied to asexuality. thereâs no such thing as a non-ace aro or a non-aro ace. asexuality refers to a lack of attraction, full stop. no romantic interest and no sexual interest. if you experience either âformâ (quotation marks because these are not actually discrete) of attraction, that attraction is what defines your sexual orientation (a phrase that is not defined literally and never has been).
people of every sexual orientation except asexuality have (and have always had) individual variation in the strength of their sexual and romantic feelings, in the scope of their sexual and romantic feelings, in the frequency and duration of their sexual and romantic feelings. those kinds of variations do not themselves constitute unique identity categories, but are instead part of the diversity of each sexual orientation. you can be a lesbian without being attracted to every woman you meet. you can be a straight woman that doesnât want a romantic relationship with any men. neither condition would make you asexual - theyâd make you you, and still a lesbian or straight person.
to be asexual, you must satisfy the condition that defines asexuality, and you must satisfy it at all times, for the rest of your life: a comprehensive absence of attraction. if you do not have a comprehensive absence of attraction, there is space for you in the âallosexualâ constellation of sexual orientations. only people without any attraction (at all! at all. at. all.) donât fit in the other categories. it is we rare little freaks that have no basis for shared identity with any other orientation that asexuality describes.
if i met someone and developed feelings for them, i wouldnât still be asexual. i wouldnât then become âgray aceâ or âdemisexual.â i would discover that i was not asexual, had never BEEN asexual, and was in fact straight or gay or bisexual all along, but hadnât known yet. that would be fine! self-discovery is not deadly.
some pride frogs !!!
They wanna make it as difficult as possible
