@journeyofaconvert
āIām just trying to find a religion that dovetails with my pre-existing prejudices and moral suppositions, Iām fine with lighting a couple candles and getting a new tattoo or necklace or book or something but Iām not actually looking to change anything substantive about myselfā
āI just feel like an encounter with the supernatural would complement the hobbies and behaviors that I already enjoy and none of which I have any intention of modifyingā
who is this in reference to?
Is this the witches? itās āchristianā witches isnt it?
After fertilization the child has its own unique genetic code from the mother and father, containing everything it needs to know how to develop, an organism exists after fertilization that did not exist before. This is a scientific fact. This is a unique human life. An abortion ends this life.
Fight against sin with all your might. You have only one life to be a saint. If you have even a suspicion that something is a near occasion of sin for you, avoid it, get rid of it, do whatever you have to do. Pray at all times. You donāt get another chance if you die in a state of mortal sin.
Are you implying that if you die in sin while a Christian you go to hell?
If a Christian dies in a state of mortal sin, they will go to hell, yes.
Bible verses on mortal sin.
The Church Fathers on mortal sin
Mortal vs venial sin
Oooof thats literally not biblical but okay. Once saved, always saved.
Just in case thereās any confusion, itās not āif youāre saved but then you sin youāre no longer savedā itās āif youāre saved but then through actions AND intention turn away from God, rejecting his salvation, youāre no longer savedā
Thats not biblical.
Well Iām not a Calvinist
I'm not either. I just only believe the bible, and nothing else.
Sola scriptura isnāt biblical, ironically
"For man shall not live on bread alone, but my words." Paraphrased but still.
I only believe the bible cuz thats what the bible says. The bible says "I Am the Way, the Truth and the Light. Nobody comes to the Father but by Me."
Jesus saves. You only need to accept him truly once. Repent when you sin ofc, but you don't ever lose your salvation.
Man needs not just physical nourishment, but spiritual as well.
JESUS says āI am the Way, the Truth, and the Lightā, not the Bible.
None of that says āwhatās in the Bible, and ONLY whatās explicitly stated in the Bible, is trueā
If some teaching contradicts scripture, itās wrong. But if something is derived from scripture, based on sound reason and teaching, and conforms to everything else in the Bible? Probably true.
Nobody LOSES their salvation. Itās not something accidental. The point is that you can deliberately turn away from God, and you wonāt be forced into Heaven when you die, because youāve made your choice. You can always come back to God, but if you donāt..well, youāll die unsaved. Your salvation is not against your will. Itās about conforming your will to Godās.
We had tradition before we had Holy Scripture and nowhere in the Bible does it say that Scripture should be our only source of Faith
The two pillars of Protestantism ā sola scriptura and sola fide ā are illogical, and it is so much easier to prove than I ever imagined.
NFP: Know your body.
Contraception: Reject you Body.
Natural Procreative Technology: Heal your body and keep it functional
Contraception: lol all female disorders are the same, artificial hormones for everyone!
you can tell a lot about someone based on their phone background. it shows whatās most important to them

My mom sent me a tiny man that I have to bury in the ground. Catholicism is wild
Wtf does this mean
Iām moving and selling my house and apparently thereās a patron saint of home selling and you literally bury this tiny man in front of your house to help sell it
Please donāt bury St Joseph
ladies, do you want to be traditional?
grow your hair out.
all of it.
throw away your razors.
have body hair.
women shaving is an incredibly recent development, just barely over a century old. so if you want to live femininity like our foremothers did, exist in your natural hairy state.
bonus points? Certain Wacky Trads might even think youāre one of those filthy feminists for doing it.
God I hate shaving so much
pants arenāt immodest yāall. get some critical thinking skills I am begging you
Good evening I hate witchcraft and paganism
Pope St John Paul II approves
Would you marry someone who wasn't Catholic?
I donāt wish to offer a definite āNoā, not because Iām a weak-willed fool (which is true), but because not enough information has been provided.
Now, hereās the weird part: Iāve been under the impression, incorrect or not, that, as a catechumen, Iām not allowed to date Catholics (at this point); and, so, if I were to be married between now and Easter Sunday, well, it is my understanding that I would have to marry a non-Catholic? I think. (Please, please, please correct me if Iām wrong!)
Anyway, setting that aside, of course, the general cautions against disparity of cult and mixed marriages should, naturally, be heeded: now, Iām neither a canon lawyer nor a priest, but CCC 1633-1637 are particularly of note here, I think. Likewise, St. Paulās words, in 2 Corinthians 6:14 (āDo not be mismatched with unbelievers.ā), are true.
Letās not even get into the cultural aspects of the faith; the beliefs of such a spouse on matters of reproduction, sexuality, child-rearing, etc., etc.; or my (selfish) desire to abandon the city and have a quiet, bucolic life, for that matter. All of which must also come into play.
On balance, then, in the general case: no, barring specific circumstances.
Itās okay for Catechumens to date Catholics. Catholics are even allowed to marry non-Catholic Christians, with permission (as long as certain rules are followed). And rarely, they may even marry non-Christians (although such a marriage would be non-sacramental). So itās certainly okay to date a Catholic. Potentially you could even get married before you were officially received into the Church! (Now as you whether that is prudent under any specific circumstances⦠that you have to decide for yourselves with spiritual direction.)
I started dating my wife when she was uninterested in Catholicism. She ended up converting a year later! But in my mind, we were always dating for the purpose of marriage and I hadnāt foreseen that sheād convert. The Church discourages mixed marriages for all the reasons you outlined, but they arenāt expressly forbidden. In any case, though, you would need permission from the bishop!
My sister is going through some of this now, her husband is Catholic but she is not so they got permission from his bishop to get married and they are having a small Catholic ceremony shortly before their ārealā big party and public vows ceremony thatās gonna be pretty secular. This is partly because (as I understand it) the Catholic vows and blessings for a marriage are specific and particular and you need to have them or at least be pretty close to them in a Protestant ceremony to have a sacramental marriage. Hope that helps!
Yeah I mean that post about trad women burning their pants...I mean...that is exactly what I'm talking about...I can't not wear pants to my job and I thought our whole schtick was that what you wear is not necessarily an expression of your gender. You can wear pants and be a good, faithful Catholic woman okay come ON people
Also this reminds me that I once read a book on dressing modestly that said that wearing pants was inherently sinful because the lines drew menās eyes to your crotch and I still ????? think about that from time to time i mean ?????
They said whAT WHERE
Folks, even I am pretty traditional. I wanna be a SAHM when we have kids - but you can pry my pants from my cold dead hands
PLEASE STOP SAYING IF YOU DO WITCHCRAFT AS LONG AS IT'S "CHRISTIAN" IT'S OKAY. IT COMPLETELY MISLEADS PEOPLE. DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS REALLY CHRISTIAN?
NOT PRACTICING WITCHCRAFT. PERIOD.
