My bf and I are trying to pull together money for first and last on an apartment as soon as we possibly can
Both of us are in less than ideal situations, with me living precariously with family and him having no fixed place to live
We have a place lined up, but we need to pay first and last month's rent in order to secure it, and we need to do so as fast as possible
If anyone can help out, we take donations over PayPal or e-transfer (you can DM for e-transfer info)
I do writing commissions on Ko-fi, where you can also donate
We have to put together a total of 3200 CAD so obviously this is pretty stressful, and any and all help would be much appreciated!
I'm going to update this post with both the amount of any donations we receive, and the amounts of our paychecks when we get them, so the total raised will reflect the complete amount of money that we have set aside as opposed to only showing what's been donated (to avoid any confusion). I also applied for a government assistance program for first and last, which would take care of about 1000-1600 CAD, so I'll include that if I am able to get it
2435/3200 CAD
My bank account is empty, and we need to get groceries and cleaning supplies for the apartment
Please, if anyone can contribute to help with that to get us through to the end of the month, it would mean everything to us
45/250 CAD
thinking about the time a former housemate said to me "hey I put these box fans in the living room because it's hot" while gesturing to the fans that I was actively sitting in front of because it was hot. and I said "okay thanks." and she kept standing there like she was waiting for something else so I said "am I blocking the airflow? do you need me to move?" and she said no I'm just letting you know they're here, in the living room, for circulation. and I said well yes, I did put that together. I am enjoying them. thank you. and she looked confused. so I asked "am I meant to do something with this information or are you just informing me?" and she said no I'm letting you know they're here because It's Hot In Here. she seemed a bit aggravated, and her emphasis seemed deliberate.
it took me asking three more times before she finally told me she wanted me to leave the fans where they are instead of moving them to my room or something. and I said oh! I had no intention of doing so but thank you for letting me know what the expectation is.
about a month later she brought up that conversation as the moment it actually clicked for her that I Am Autistic And Will Not Magically Intuit The Unspoken Request You Didn't Ask Me.
I have observed enough allistic communication to know that generally, if somebody points something out to you that you can already see or are already clearly interacting with, they are making an indirect request. but as I don't know what the request is, the only way forward is for me to guess (and likely get it wrong), or prompt the allistic to tell me clearly what they need.
however, allistics don't realize they do this, so asking them to say the unspoken surprises and confuses them. this is not their fault. allistics can be quite emotionally fragile and perceive directness as confrontation, so they habitually rely on indirect speech and coded language to preserve others' feelings. this is why they may find it difficult to be direct, even when asked. I have found that with enough gentle encouragement and reassurance that they are actually helping you, you too can achieve successful communication with your allistic friend or loved one. :)
The Trump administration is cynically exploiting calls for stricter AI regulation to pass broad censorship measures at the federal level.
So, in terrible news, Trump's trying to pull some strings to pass this massive internet censorship bill, featuring all the kinds of internet censorship we're terrified of, including mandatory ID for accessing basically any website, specifically to crush state regulation of AI, because apparently this man will always see the moral bottom of the barrel and start digging.
So, if you live in the US and hate censorship and AI you know what to do, contact your congresspeople and tell them do not fucking dare let this through or so help us god...
IMPORTANT UPDATE: The bastards just worked out a deal on the package, and they're going to try and ram it through the House in the next couple of weeks.
So, if you've been waiting to call, the time is NOW. Do it ASAP, be polite, be informed, but light up those phones like a Christmas tree!
i know i keep posting about my situation (tl;dr a pipe burst in my apartment and destroyed all my electronics)
3 weeks later i'm still fighting my landlords over property damage and unfinished repairs. i've had to spend ~$1600 this month on top of my normal living expenses while also being unable to work. i am going fucking insane trying to navigate this & i'm doing everything i can but this situation has wrecked me financially and upended my life, i'm the most broke i've ever been right now
i've replaced my computer and tablet and i'm back to working on commissions, but anything helps. shit is rough so i really appreciate everybody who's offered me support & kindness the past few weeks
Support Ted "corantus" Kaufman
i dont need to tell anyone this but theres a White House App out and do not download it even as a joke
Literally do not. Like. if you already did then you may want to factory reset your device(s) and change any possibly affected credentials
I write these words with a broken heart. To everyone who reads this and ignores it, you might skim this post quickly, but my child might not even have two seconds. His body is collapsing from malnutrition as you read these words.
He does not scream loudly⦠but weakens silently, and trembles, because there is no medicine or food that can restore what the war has taken from his body.
If you were in his place, would you be content to let people see you and just walk away without doing anything?
One share or a small donation could mean the difference between his survival and his disappearance.
My child isn't just a number⦠he's a human being yearning for life.
Don't let this post go unnoticed. Stop, share, donate, and do something now before it's too late.

Please share and donate to help Safa and her family in Gaza!
Guys plz please help us, donāt let us alone, donāt scroll without supporting us by sharing and donate if you can
Your silence hurts more than anything. I will never forgive anyone who sees my cry for help and chooses to ignore me.
I pleaded and begged for help repeatedly, but all I received was silence. My child has a high fever due to tonsillitis, and the bitter cold and fluctuating temperature inside the tent are making his condition worse. I fear his condition will deteriorate further without treatment or assistance. Will anyone remember that I was pleading for help to save my child?
If you were in my place, would you be okay with people seeing you and walking past you? A single share or a small donation from you could make all the difference in getting treatment.
My child is a human being yearning for life. Don't let this post go unnoticed. Stop, share, donate, and do something now before it's too late.

Consider this a sequel to this morningās post talking about that SOS from that woman.
To kidnap people, starve them, beat them, torture them and even rape the whole taking their personal belongings? HOW does someone NOT being here ālegallyā justify that EVIL treatment?? Because guess what fuck sticks? NO ONE but Native Americans are here legally.
But thankfully a group called Haven Watch is formed to help these victims. You can donate if you can but if you canāt just spread the word!
No One Walks Alone
My mom and her teacher friends have a similar group here in New York and me and my friends have a similar kind of group going on.
Because this is NOT about differing opinions BUT of whatās morally right and I donāt want to look in the mirror 20 years from now regretting not what j could have done.
I highly recommend watching this testimony from Aliya Rahman, the disabled woman who was dragged out of her car and kidnapped by ICE on her way to a doctor appointment in Minneapolis a few weeks ago.
Truly my worst nightmare.
Transcript of Aliya Rahman's speech:
Thank you members, for taking the time to be here today, and thank you staff for making this happen.
My name is Aliya Rahman, and I am a resident of South Minneapolis. I am a Bangladeshi American born in Northern Wisconsin. And Iām a disabled person with autism and a traumatic brain injury.
Not all autistic brains do this, but mine fixates on sounds, numbers, and patterns. And while what the world saw happen to me exactly three weeks ago today on video was a terrible violation it is still nothing compared to the horrific practices I saw inside the Whipple center.
So I am here today with a duty to the people who have not had the privilege of coming home, and I offer this data because these practices must end now.
On January 13th on the way to my 39th appointment at Hennepin Countyās traumatic brain injury center, I encountered a traffic jam caused by ICE vehicles and no signs indicating how to get around it. I had not wanted to pull in to a blocked, chaotic intersection, but verbally agreed to do so and rolled down my window after an agent yelled, āMove! I will break your f-ing window!ā
His first instruction.
Agents on all sides of my vehicle yelled conflicting threats and instructions that I could not process while watching for pedestrians.
Then, the glass of the passenger side window flew across my face.
I yelled, āIām disabled!ā at the hands grabbing at me and an agent said, āToo late.ā
I felt immersed in a pattern, and I thought of Jenoah Donald, an autistic black man killed by the police during a traffic stop in 2021.
I remembered mister Silverio Villegas GonzƔlez, who was killed by ICE in his vehicle last year.
An agent pulled a large combat knife in front of my face, which I thought was for cutting me, and later learned was used to cut off my seat belt. Shooting pain went through my head, neck, and wrists when I hit the ground face first and people leaned on my back.
I felt the pattern, and I thought of mister George Floyd, who was killed four blocks away.
I was carried face down through the street by my cuffed arms and legs while yelling that I had a brain injury and was disabled. I now cannot lift my arms normally.
I was never asked for ID.
Never told I was under arrest.
Never read my rights.
And never charged with a crime.
Approaching the Whipple center, I saw black and brown bodies shackled together, chained together, being marched by yelling agents outdoors. I continued to hear the word ābodiesā, because that is how agents referred to us:
āWeāre bringing in a body.ā
āTheyāre bringing in bodies 7, 8 at a time, where do I put āem?ā
āWe canāt use that room, thereās already a body in there.ā
You have no reason to believe you will make it out alive if youāre already being called a body.
Agents repeatedly had to stop and ask how to do tasks. I received no medical screening, phone call, or access to a lawyer. I was denied a communication navigator when my speech began to slur. Agents laughed as I tried to immobilize my own neck. I asked for my cane and was told no, pulled up by my arms and prodded forward in leg irons by agents laughing and saying, āWalk! You can do it, walk.ā
Agents did not know if the facility had a wheelchair.
When I was finally placed in one to be taken to interrogation an agent taunted, āYou were driving, right? So your legs do work.ā
I pleaded for emergency medical care for over an hour after my vision had become blurry, my heart rate went through the roof, and the pain in my neck and head became unbearable.
It was denied.
When I became unable to speak my cellmate pleaded for me.
The last sounds I remember before I blacked out on the cell floor were my cellmate banging on the door, pleading for a medic, and a voice outside saying, āWe donāt wanna step on ICEās toes.ā
When I opened my eyes at Hennepin Countyās emergency room, I learned I was brought there to be treated for assault.
The impacts of DHS detention on my physical, mental and financial well-being and safety have been very severe, but I do not deserve more humane treatment than anyone else, US citizen or not. And I am here today with a strong spirit and a duty to the many people who havenāt had the privilege to tell their stories or see their loved ones come home. I am extremely distressed by the pattern that violence from law enforcement has been happening to black and indigenous communities for centuries, and to DHS survivors for over 20 years.
We call ourselves a civilized nation, but we lack rules and accountability around what a person claiming to be law enforcement is permitted to do to another human being.
I am not afraid, and Iām not afraid to keep working on this problem even after ICE is gone. Thank you for your time.
These faces have been in my mind all month, and likely they will never leave. Worse even, there will likely be more added. To artists and those of us who can speak up, we NEED to speak upāwe are as much a part of this world and society as everyone else, and we can create things that can do even just a little good/reflection/solidarity. Iām so angry, which only means Iām NOT going to stop speaking out and doing what I can to remind people that this is so wrong and evil. Abolish ICE!!!
My name is Rami. Iām 20 years old from Gaza.
Our home in northern Gaza was destroyed by airstrikes š. We ran under fire š„, leaving everything behind. Since then, weāve been displaced seven times ā from the north to Khan Younis, to Rafah, to Deir al-Balah, back to tents āŗ in the north, again to the south, and now in western Gaza.
My name is Rami, Iām 20 years old, and Iām from Gaza City.
Each place we go, we carry only fear š, exhaustion š, and the hope of survival š. We sleep in tents, with no electricity ā”, no clean water š±, no safety š«. We wake up to more uncertainty every day.
When we were displaced from our home, they bombed it. My family and I were inside, thank God, and no one was killed, except my brother, who was shot in the head and suffered internal bleeding.
Please help my injured brother so we can leave Gaza and he can recover.
We lost our home, our stability, and the life we once knew š. But we havenāt lost our will to live šŖ.
We just want to be safe šļø. We want to live with dignity š . We want the world to know what weāre going through š.
I am Mohammed, I live in the northern besieged Gaza Strip, I am 21 years old, I have always tried to create a beautiful future for myself in which I achieve all my wishes. I had ambitions and dreams, but they evaporated because of the war, but I still want to achieve them despite the siege. During the war, I lost many things, including my university, my dreams, my job, and some friends. Despite that, I still want to achieve my dreams and ambitions. I want to rebuild my life again, so please help me in that and rebuild my life. Therefore,
please donate as much as you can because that helps me a lot. If you cannot donate, tell people about my suffering.
My name is Mohammed, I live in a neighborhood in Shujaiyya, an area in the north of Gaza. I amĀ 21 years old , the eldest among my siblings.

I write these words with a bleeding heart⦠My child is between life and death.
His condition worsens every day, and the doctors confirm he needs intensive and immediate treatment, otherwise we could lose him at any moment. The cost of treatment is beyond my means, unimaginable⦠and I don't even have a fraction of it.

"Friends outside of Minnesota please read. I'm sharing a post written by a personal friend and medical doctor: Friends outside MN, you need to know what is happening here. Everyone knows that ICE shot and killed a woman here on Wednesday. But thatās not the only thing thatās going on:
ICE agents are cruising areas with immigrant-owned businesses, and kidnapping patrons and employees alike. Yesterday they abducted two US citizen employees at a suburban Target, one who was begging them to allow him to go get his passport to show them.
ICE is going door to door in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods, asking residents where their immigrant neighbors live. Read that again. If it sounds like something out of your high school history textbook, thatās because it is.
ICE is targeting schools and school buses. They pepper sprayed teenagers and abducted two school staff members at the high school up the street from me on Wednesday. Police are literally escorting school buses to ensure children can get to school and home safely. The Minneapolis Public Schools have moved to virtual learning for the next 4 weeks because itās unsafe for children or teachers to physically come to school.
They are targeting hospitals and clinics. Patients are scared and are cancelling their appointments or just not showing up. Kids are missing their checkups and vaccines, folks arenāt getting their cancer care, etc.
They are smashing windows in cars and homes.
ICE is increasingly picking up Native Americansāagain, targeting folks based on skin color alone.
They are arresting and beating legal observers. A friend of a friend had her arm broken yesterday. Folks are showing up at local hospitals, brought in in ICE custody, with severe injuries that are absolutely inconsistent with mechanism of injury reported by ICE. (Think: patient appears to have been beaten unconscious, while ICE agent says he slipped and fell.) I canāt emphasize enough that these ICE agents do not have warrants. There are 2,000+ agents here and they are simply hunting for anyone thatās not white. It doesnāt matter if youāre a citizen or a green card holder, they will kidnap you first and ask questions later. But the community is fighting back.
Protests are happening every day.
Community groups have been leading know-your-rights sessions for months, often to packed venues.
Whistles are being distributed by the thousands, carried on keychains and worn on coat zippers, always at the ready to be blown in warning if ICE is spotted.
Drivers are following ICE vehicles, blaring their horns in warning.
Businesses are locking their doors even while open to keep employees and customers safe. As I type this, Iām standing guard at the locked door of our neighborhood burrito joint while I wait for my takeout order, so the employees can focus on their jobs. The place is packed with neighbors supporting this small business.
Anti-ICE signs are posted everywhere. The community is making it crystal clear that ICE is not welcome here.
Parents and neighbors are standing guard outside schools, organizing carpools, and escorting kids to and from school on foot.
Parents of kids in Spanish-immersion daycare (there are a LOT of these daycares here!) are keeping their kids home so the teachers donāt have to take the risk of coming to work.
Churches and community groups are holding fundraisers to buy and deliver groceries to families who donāt feel safe leaving home.
Mutual aid money is going out to folks who canāt make rent because they canāt work or because a breadwinner was abducted, or who need a warm place to stay after their homeās windows were smashed. THAT is what is happening here. This fight is ongoing and itās horrifying to watch. But we are not backing down. To my friends in other cities and states, donāt think for a minute that this wonāt happen in your town. It will. Be ready. Learn from us, as we have learned from Portland and Chicago and New York. Fight back. Donāt let us get to the last line of Martin Niemollerās poem.ā -Grant Boulanger
Here's an AP news brief with a little more info. It's limited in the way major news outlets are right now but provides context that supports the personal account shared.
Here are the 2024 vaccine recommendation schedules. Theyāve already been wiped from the cdc site. Save them and share widely, especially to your friends with kids.
Hi!!! One of my parents got meningitis when I was a kid.
They were in the hospital for nearly a month, the rest of us were all placed in medical quarantine, there were several points we thought they were gonna die, and even though they survived, it was a SUPER close call and they lost about two years of memories from the ensuing brain damage.
Like⦠a two-uear-long cookie-cutter pocket of thoughts and memories went missing right out of their brain. Itās an inflammation of the brain that cooks it alive.
I DIDNāT EVEN KNOW THERE WAS A VACCINE.
I WILL BE GETTING IT.
