I always comment on every chapter and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stayed up binging a fic and then in the morning I get a comment back from the author saying “I loved seeing your reactions as you read it!”

BUT if you can’t think of anything nice to say, then maybe say NOTHING, and exit the fic. If you don’t like something don’t read it and certainly don’t make the author feel bad about it.
