Paranormal Experience - Archie Andrews
Pairing : Archie Andrews x Reader
Warnings : Ouija board (?)
It was a cold and stormy night. The wind was making the walls of the old house creek, which sent chills down your spine. The scene in front of you didn’t help the ambiance. A horror movie was playing on the flat screen television of your best friend’s living room. The red head had finally convinced you after hours of pleading. You had always hated horror films. Especially the gory ones. Sprawled across the couch and the floor were six teenagers, including yourself. Betty and Veronica were huddled together behind a huge blanket that was practically engulfing both of their petite bodies. A lap top was sitting of Jughead’s lap, the boy occasionally glancing up to the movie. Kevin held a bowl a popcorn, his eyes wide, hypnotized by the film. Your best friend, Archie, had it’s arm around your shoulder, protectively holding you.
A jump scare popped up and everybody screamed expect for the raven haired, who was still furiously typing on his computer.
“This movie is ruining my cinematographic experience. The scenes are way too predictable and cliché.” Jughead spoke up. Kevin grabbed a hand full of popcorn and threw it to the boy.
“Shut it and let us appreciate.” Archie shushed them, readjusting his position.
“Guys come on, don’t be childish.” Betty said. The room was silent again and your lungs stopped filling with air for a second. A lugubrious feeling was settling inside you. You turned your body to the red head beside you and nuzzled yourself in his chest. His head fell on yours and rested on your long hair. You instinctively took his hand and intertwined your fingers with his. He bit his lip, eyes glued to the scene on the flat screen. You could feel his heart beating quicker, but perhaps it was only your imagination.
Out of the blue, the high pitched screams of Ronnie, Bets and yourself filled the room.
“Hey,” Archie whispered in your ear “It’s just a movie. Don’t worry it’ll be fine.” He brought you closer as you worriedly glanced at him.
“I’m not sure Arch, I have this bad feeling-” A loud thunder came from outside and this time, everybody screamed out of terror. The television suddenly turned off and the whole house was now pitched black expect for the blue light from Jughead’s laptop that illuminated his face. Big arms squeezed your figure and the voice of your best friend came from your right.
“No shit detective gadget.” You recognized Veronica’s sassy tone.
“Do you have any flashlights or something?” Kevin spoke up.
“Yeah- I’m pretty sure I have candles lying somewhere in a drawer of the kitchen.” Archie got up and an unfamiliar coldness invaded you by the lack of body heat you friend provided you. Kevin was quick to open his phone’s flashlight. The two boys left the rest of you in the living room as they went on their scavenger hunt. Scary thoughts were running trough your mind- thanks to the movie. You started biting your nails out of pure nervousness. Small whispers came from in front of you which caught your attention.
“What’s going on?” The voices ignored you and continued giggling. You felt like something was up but didn’t question it.
Archie came back five minutes later with a bunch of candles and a lighter, but no Kevin by his side.
“Where’s Kevin?” You asked. Your best friend shrugged.
“No idea. He wondered off when I grabbed the candles.” This comment gained a snicker from Betty but was quickly shut down by Veronica shoving her elbow in her side. Archie placed candles all over the living room and lighten them one by one. On queue, Jughead got up and turned around to face you on the couch.
“This calls for a séance.” He then pulled out a Ouija board out of his backpack and placed it on the middle of the dining table.
“What? No!” You objected. Your group of friends knew how much you hated the paranormal.
“Come on (y/n), can you imagine a better setting? A group of teens, in the dark, during a storm… I will not let this opportunity pass.” Veronica said. Her and Betty walked up to Jughead as Archie came up to you.
“You don’t have to do this (y/n/n). We can go upstairs and talk, okay? I don’t want you to feel pressured to do anything.” He was the only one to understand you fear and not make fun of you about it. You weakly smiled at him.
“Thank you, but I think I’ll stay down here. I don’t want to seem like a party pooper.”
“You sure?” You nodded quickly and felt flustered from your best friend’s protectiveness.
“Hey- love birds! Is it for today or tomorrow?” You and Archie slowly stepped to the table where Jugh, Bets and Ronnie were sitting around the spirit board, You sheepishly sat on an unoccupied chair beside the blonde girl.
“We need to hold hands.” Betty said. When you were all holding hands, making a perfect circle, Jughead confidently spoke up.
“Spirits! We come in peace and want to communicate with you. We do not want to evocate fear just to ask questions. If you can hear us, let it be known.” You all waited for a voice or a sound, but nothing happened. A nervous giggle escaped your mouth which gained a frown from Jugh.
“Maybe I wasn’t clear enough-” He cleared his throat. If there is a spirit in this room, reveal yourself!“ You rolled your eyes, impatient as only silence could be heard in the house.
’‘Guys this is stupid-” A loud crash interrupted your phrase. This time, nobody screamed. It even felt like everyone had stopped breathing. You were all too terrified to make a sound.
“We need to continue.” Veronica said quietly. Archie didn’t really feel the same.
“Are you crazy! This isn’t your house that’s going to be haunted for the next centuries!”
The group ignored the comment that the football player had just made and Jugh shook his head with a thoughtful expression.
“Let’s put our fingers on the planchette.” Without any arguments, everybody placed their hands over the pointer, only the tip of their index touching the plastic object. Together, all of you made a few circles on the board. Automatically, loud footsteps came from the dark hallway separating the main entrance of the house to the kitchen. With that, you got up and held yourself tightly.
“That’s it!” You panicked. “I’m not playing this game anymore!” All of your friends eyes looked at you. Archie tried calming you.
“Everything’s fine (y/n/n). Nothing bad will happen as long as I’m here.” Your girl friends were hiding a grin and the raven haired boy was pursing his lips. Their attention all seemed to be on something behind you. You cautiously turned to look at the dark corridor. You couldn’t see anything until a figure emerged out of nowhere, bolting towards you. A high pitched scream escaped your mouth. Your throat burned but you couldn’t stop yelling. Instinctively, your eyes shut and your hands made their way on your ears, applying pressure to them. You stayed like that for a few seconds before hearing laughs throughout the kitchen. You gradually peeked, and saw Kevin in front of you, holding his stomach, red from laughing. The gang was all cracking up, except for you and Archie.
“Seriously?!” You looked at the one who wasn’t laughing. “We’re you in on this?!” He stared back, shocked that you were even suspecting him.
“What- No! You know I don’t find these types of jokes funny.” By then, you were fuming.
“Sorry (y/n).” Betty barely made out.
“You’re just such an easy target.” Jughead continued. You pouted, expecting better from your friends. You marched towards the couch and stubbornly sat on it, ignoring all the roars. You pulled your knees underneath your chin, comforting yourself. Without noticing, your red head best friend joined you on the sitting area.
“You okay (y/n/n)?” You restrained yourself from talking and kept staring at the wooden floor. Archie caressed your cheek, making your attention turn towards him.
“It’s all fine now, see? It was all a stupid joke.” You kept staring into his eyes and nodded. Before he could say anything else, you gave him a peck on his lips. Your eyes widened and you backed away, surprised by your own actions. Archie kept silent.
“Archie- I’m so sorry. I’m just thankful for you defending me and being so sweet- oh my what am I saying? I don’t know what came up in me, it won’t happen again.” Archie didn’t say anything, just leaned forward. He licked his lips and glanced at yours.
“Can I?” You couldn’t say anything, your mind processing everything that was happening. Guessing your answer was yes, Archie kissed your lips. You let your knees go and brought your hands behind the boy’s neck. You pressed your mouth against his and played with his fiery red locks. His tongue licked your bottom lip, asking for entrance which you gladly gave. He gently held your face and deepened the kiss. This feeling was completely new to you, yet you loved it. The two of you separated and took a big breath.
“Amazing” You both giggle and dumbly smiled at each other.
“Called it! You all owe me ten bucks.” Of course Veronica had put a bet on you two. Even though the prank they played on you was ruthless and cruel, you loved all your friends. No matter what.
