The word «value» can be used in different ways, but the most important meaning of this word is something meaningful, important, necessary. Part of values we acquire at birth, because we were born in a certain place at a certain time and in a particular culture. Many values established by society and education, but a man is also
available to choose his own values. He is involved as much as his identity can be independent of the society. We think that we choose our values, that we are the masters of ours bodies and thoughts. But some values choose ourselves, because a person lives into society and dependent of it. To form something own is difficult process.
Human isn’t just existing, he’s available to think and to feel. What is the value? Is it something established to us automatically, reflexively or is it the product of our thoughts and feelings? Despite the fact that most of values we get from society, values creating process is the main process. Is necessary to say that the ability to create value through the thoughts and feelings is value. This can be called the value of life, the value of feeling.
It is believed that the value can be expressed in physical and mental form. We live in a material world, which is acting by the laws of physics. We feel it, touch it, breathe it. But what if a person has no material, physical values? What if all of this are images, and meanings? We can value some things because it gives us some opportunities, pleasant emotions or something else. We appreciate the thoughts contained in the book. Even if we appreciate it for its beauty, we still appreciate the image. Material world itself may be valued as a possibility of being. People often appreciate something rare, unique and special. These words are synonymous to the word «value.» Why do we value uniqueness? Probably, it is the fear of losing them. Existing of these things is in danger, because it’s rare.
We appreciate time. Maybe that’s because of fear too. People have limited recourse of time. Maby we admired by constancy of time, by its power. That’s why we appreciate things resistant to time especially. We admired by the power to live of these things, because they can be stronger than us.
The main value of architecture is that it is a place of our existence, the space of our living. Architecture is a live organism. It is filled with life. It is nature, it’s made of nature, it touches the ground, like a man, it’s growing and developing in with the laws of physics. It has a certain resistance to the time. It keeps the memory of events surrounding it into its body. It has inner peace inside. It protects us. It’s impossible to be indifferent of it.
Through the values, I find my own meaning of architecture.
