Juliana got through her 3rd panic attack of the evening and only had to take two Xanax.
When you're suicidal/anxious/depressed/hopeless and nothing helps.
Mom: Why are you on your phone so much
Me: Well I pay so damn much for it I might as well get my money's worth
dating tip: ask them to show you their recently used emojis so you can count your matches and see if you are compatible
McGonagall had replaced the House tables, but nobody was sitting according to House anymore: All were jumbled together, teachers and pupils, ghosts and parents, centaurs and house-elves, and Firenze lay recovering in a corner, and Grawp peered in through a smashed window, and people were throwing food into his laughing mouth.

When I wake up in the middle of the night, I get anxiety that I won't be able to get back to sleep, I'll get sick, or that I will have a panic attack. Essentially, I give myself a panic attack. It sucks. Usually, I'm at my boyfriend's house and this happens far less, but a couple nights a week I'm at home and that's when the anxiety hits hard. You'd think that I'd be used to my house considering I've been living here and sleeping here for most of my life but I still wake up with a jolt and get the shakes. The boyfriend and I have talked about moving in together but that's down the road. For now, I need to get it together and figure out how to handle my nighttime anxiety. My cat is cuddled up next to me now. She is very cute but she doesn't compare to my boyfriend. I have an interview tomorrow for a place that I would love. I'm excited. I just need to get more sleep to actually be functional.
DBT SKILL: DEARMAN
Communicating in a situation where your objective is clearly not being met can be difficult. DEARMAN is an interpersonal effectiveness skill that exists to help with this. Using the DEARMAN skill to navigate difficult social interactions can get you a more desirable outcome and preserve your relationships. Remember that not every situation that requires use of the DEARMAN skill has to be considered difficult; it can help in less-serious situations as well. For using DEARMAN in a current interaction, go here.
DESCRIBE: Describe the situation in a non-judgmental way. Stick to the facts, not emotions.
EXPRESS: Express the emotions you have about the situation your previously described before. Clearly state your emotions, thoughts, or beliefs about the situation to ensure there is no miscommunication. Do not assume that the person already knows or that they should be able to figure it out on their own based on what has already been said.
ASSERT: Ask for what you want clearly without beating around the bush or telling the person that they ‘should’ do what you want. Again, being clear and direct reduces the chance of miscommunication. Do not assume that the person already knows what you want.
REINFORCE: Explain the positive effect of someone giving you what you ask for, accepting your no for an answer, or agreeing with what you say. Telling them what’s in it for them before they give their response may help you get what you ask for.
STAY MINDFUL: Remain focused on your goal in the situation and do not let the other person change your mind or distract you from the conversation topic. One technique to stay mindful of your objective is to be a ‘broken record’. If someone is not answering or trying to distract you, keep repeating yourself over and over. Don’t raise your voice or change your wording to attack them. Saying the same exact thing will make it hard for them to ignore it so many times. Another technique is to ignore the other person’s attacks or distractions. Stay focused on making your request, saying no, or saying your opinion. Not responding to attacks, ignoring them, and staying calm will give you more control over the conversation. You can address their attacks or distractions another time.
APPEAR CONFIDENT: Use a confident tone of voice; do not whisper or raise your voice if attacked. Use confident body language by making eye contact and not doing things such as crossing your arms or staring at the floor.
NEGOTIATE: If things are not going in your favor, try finding a middle point you both can agree on. Reduce your request, ask for their opinion, and find a way to make your objective met in a different way, if possible. You can try ‘turning the tables’ on them by asking for their opinion and asking what they think should be done to solve the problem.
Source: (x) paraphrased by Alyssa for Borderline Bravery
neurotypical people do not understand the level of exhaustion someone who suffers from borderline personality disorder experiences. imagine living through the most intense emotion you have ever felt; rage, depression, hopelessness, guilt, elation. imagine this emotion consumes you entirely, so much so that you cannot focus or function normally. that sounds tiresome, right? now imagine experiencing these intense emotions several times a day every day for years. that is what having borderline personality disorder is like. a constant stream of too much too much too much followed by short periods of nothing at all, then repeat.
I hate feeling sick. Let’s all never feel sick again!!!!
I have emetophobia. It means fear of vomiting/watching or hearing someone vomit/etc. I'm lucky that I can say and read the word without freaking out. I definitely can't hear stories about it. I have done it once in the past fourteen years. I live in fear. Everything that I do or eat is scrutinized heavily beforehand. I don't like to try new things. I don't like children. I don't like flu season. I am well read on foodborne illnesses, the spread of stomach viruses, and ways to combat being ill. I also have severe anxiety, and therefore I have a full-blown panic attack every time I feel nauseous. In January, my boyfriend had food poisoning and I panicked so hard that I lost consciousness. Any mention of someone near me being sick or feeling unwell sends me into a spiral of anxiety. I have been battling with this phobia for over a decade. I used to carry around pepto bismol, emetrol, tums, and mint gum with me everywhere. I went through a period of about 4 years when I couldn't eat anything for fear of being sick. If I did eat something, I would immediately wash it down with a pepto bismol to prevent illness. I am a vegetarian. Have been for longer than I've had this phobia. It's partly for the animals but if I were being totally honest, it's mostly for the fear of being sick if I ever tried meat again. I don't know why I have this illness, but it's been controlling my life for a long time. I've researched treatments but they are all very expensive and/or far away. Not a lot of therapists offer exposure therapy for emetophobia. It's a difficult one to crack. However, my emetophobia has caused me to become more and more agoraphobic as time has passed. I've had to quit jobs, I've never experienced the sensation of being drunk (alcohol leads to vomiting), and I'm constantly worried that something that I'm eating is going to make me sick. This is no way to live. I can't travel abroad because who knows what kinds of things are used in food that I can't eat or could make me sick. I just want to be free from this prison. I contemplate suicide more when I'm nauseous that any other time. I fear the future. I fear menopause. I will never have kids because morning sickness terrifies me. I miss out on a lot of things because of this illness.
