Early in the evening, before she goes to bed. On the rock behind me, she wags her little legs. Arm around my shoulder, cheek against my cheek. A sunset with my daughter, how deeply I fall in love.

As an artist. . . who do you create for?
We think we find inspiration in a muse and that we create what they "mused us to create". But in truth isn't the reason we sought out a muse in the first place so that we could create, and create something we knew deep down existed but were too afriad, too nervous to bring to the surface because we knew how great it would be.
We knew it would lead our mind on a great journey and that when that journey was over we would crash into home, crash into just being.
Creating may not be jumping off a building, stealing secrets from a government or corporation, it may not be rock climbing to the highest point, but it is a drug, it is an addiction.
We strive to create something more meaningful, more powerful, more intense on the self than that before, that those times between seem desolate, unenriched,
but they are not. They are paving the way for what comes next.
The river and the map. One was made by man and the other nature, and even though we are man love feels as though it is made by nature.
speechless, my love has no time for words, she brings the most beautiful of thoughts
a mother: avery page, i love you, and for you i will find words more meaningful
Avery Page, 13 months
When I kiss her cheek and then say "kiss, kiss, mommy loves you," she smiles and wraps her arms around me to make sure she has a strong hold on me, opens her mouth with her itty bitty tongue hanging out and lays a slobbery, toothy kiss on my chin, all with a big grin and giggle in her voice. She has a hard time letting go, as do I, as I only want the moment to last forever. She is the best part of me.
Heavy Weighted I had a thought today, and it wasn't the most brightest thought, but it did have some light, and it wasn't just the light coming through the mist of an old lamp post, even though that did make my thought a little more memorable. Sometimes life is scariest when you have a lot to lose. I know I worry too much. I don't know how to calm it. My heart holds so much love I feel like at any moment I could explode. And even though spontaneous combustion is not scientifically possible I do believe that my heart explodes every day, every morning I wake up, even when I need just five minutes more. She has a smile every morning. When you have a lot to lose, life gets a little heavier and lot more beautiful

"you loved me yesterday the way you did a thousand years ago and today I feel free from the bonds of time on our love"

Inspired by some newly acquired music I downloaded when my daughter, at 13 months, started dancing the moment it came on.
One simple word. Yours. One simple word. Mine. One simple flower starved of water, starved of sun and still it shines. When we are apart and my heart aches to be near you I find the places where you are most seap into those in need of fulfillment and I am consumed by how your love migrates through my entirety. So simple, so intriguing. Yours, and Mine.
Longer than a day, longer than a week, sometimes longer than a life time. Our defined being, our inner most unknown, the fine print of who you are. We must listen so that we do not miss what we are trying to tell ourself. Our intricate souls may be our most beautiful knowledge.
I hope this is the beginning of something. I hope that you can understand why I may have hidden myself from you. It takes time to show my vulnerability, because I don't like to be vulnerable. But I see that you see me and I want you to continue, because the way you see me if the best way I've been seen.
"there is no period to this sentence" In September of 2008 I challenged myself to write a love poem. Not just any love poem, because I had been writing love poems for quite some time, serious and intensely personal love poems. This challenge was to write a one sentence love poem. In the course of 12 days I did just that. I still remember the feeling as I sat on my porch in shorts and the most amazing light blue mickey mouse sweat shirt. My knees shaking so much I had to prop my computer up on the railling in order to not drop it. "there is no period to this sentence"is the outcome of that challenge and it has become my mantra. I hope to share it with those who understand just how intensely beautiful it is to be inspired by love. And to share with those who have yet to understand what happens to the heart when you fall in love.
Milk Weed. I bought a bouquet of milk weed because one of them appeared to be a perfect circle. When I got that perfect circle into the studio I was not inspired by the simplicity of its green spikeyness. I put the bouquet in a vase with every intention of throwing them away the next day. I forgot to do that and am greatful that I didn't because even after I photographed the dying milk weed I was still not satisfied with the outcome. I was looking for something in particular and what I didn't know at the time was that I should have listened to the milk weed because when I went back through the images months later I was thoroughly impressed and in awe. What a lovely little milk weed.
This was a flower from my daughter Avery's first birthday bouquet! Maybe that is why I love this one so much. Here's to you Avery Page, I adore you.
