Closed: Bimonthly coffee moments with Julian + Bianca. @julianxlevy
"How'd you and Gracie make out with Halloween? She looked adorable." Bianca loved how much Julian adored his daughter. It was so sweet to see and she appreciated all the more how much Gracie was like a big sister to the twins. It boded well consider Bianca and Julians's friendship that stemmed all the way back during university days in New York. Mutual friends is how the two met and they had always regularly been in touch. It made the processing of her grief and feeling lonely in parenthood a semblance better knowing he was close by. "I finally cleansed the house of all the leftover candy we had on Monday."
Thinking back on his chaotic Halloween, he let out an exhausted sigh, even though a smile was on his lips. "She did make an adorable Italian plumber." When his daughter said she wanted them to have matching costumes, he didn't expect that she would ask for him to dress up as Princess Peach, while she was Mario. "Halloween was great...for her. She definitely had a sugar high for a week. Wait...You have the house completely clear of candy? How'd you manage that? Everytime I think all the candy is gone, she pulls out another stash.--How was your Halloween?"
Even though their breakup had been amicable, Lorna still found herself trying to avoid running into Julian whenever she could — afraid that those feelings she once had would stir up again. Unfortunately, her need for a coffee was high on the list of her priorities and with Driftwood being the closet place she could fulfill her desire for caffeine, she found herself loitering near the entrance, willing herself to just walk in.
After cursing herself for her lack of courage, she attempted to brave and sheepishly walked into the coffee shop, with her eyes immediately scanning the premises for him. And surely enough, there he was.
"Hey there," she greeted with a bashful smile, as she approached the counter. "How're you doing?"
To say that Julian was surprised to see Lorna at Driftwood would be an understatement. On the few occasions that they did see each other around Aurora Bay, they were always cordial with one another, but they never actively entered into spaces where they knew the other would be. It was as if they had an unspoken agreement, ever since their breakup. But how can one actually avoid someone that lives so close? Maybe it was time for him to take this chance in trying to have a genuine friendship again.
"Hey." He gave her a simple greeting and plastered a friendly smile upon his lips. "I'm doing good. The morning rush nearly killed me, though." That wasn't an exaggeration. In a rush, he nearly spilled hot coffee on himself. "--Gracie is going to be mad that she missed you. She just left off to school.--How are you doing?"

(Tw; Abandonment)
It’s hard to believe that the boy who ran around Aurora Bay causing chaos for the majority of his childhood and adolescence would become an owner of a coffee shop, and yet that is exactly what happened to Julian.
Julian was born in New York City to a mother with a dream of stardom but honestly a lack of star power and a father who could care less about his existence. He was raised in a very unstable environment there until he was five and his mother told him they were moving to Aurora Bay to live with family.
What she had left out was that she had no intention to stay. After a week of being back home, one day she left Julian at his aunt’s house saying that she needed to run errands, and left him there, never returning.
Kids can be resilient but that messed with Julian a lot and it still hurts him to this day. Not that he would admit it.
He was always a very active child and while his aunt, uncle, and grandma definitely didn’t expect to take on the responsibility of raising him, they did their best.
Julian was thrown into every sport. His aunt told him it was because he was so good at them but now he knows it was to keep him out of trouble…and it didn’t help.
There were constant calls home about Julian’s behavior and he always seemed to skip extreme consequences. Did he get reprimanded? Yes. Was there punishment? Rarely. He was charming. Still is. Which is why he got away with so much.
For all the heartaches he caused his guardians, he did even worse with his peers. Relationships were chaotic. Besides his best friend(wanted connection), who he had since he moved to Aurora Bay, there were problems with his romantic and platonic relationships. Either he was too flirty and caused people to think he was interested, he was too flaky and wasn’t there for people when they needed him, or he would completely break up with a girl out of nowhere and for no reason.
When the troublemaker graduated high school, he went to a community college in New York. New York specifically to look for his mother but what he found was love…for the city.
He ended up doing surprisingly well when he moved away, because he was too afraid to cause trouble away from home, and got accepted to NYU. He didn’t go though because as he finished his associates, he fell in love with a sweet girl and instantly wanted to start a life with her.
They were together for one year when his girlfriend became pregnant. For a bit, everything was working out well. He got engaged, had a daughter, and was working as a manager at a coffee shop in upstate New York, but when his daughter turned three, everything changed.
It turns out his fiancee wasn't quite ready to have a family and when he returned home from work one day, not only did he see her with another man, but she also told him she was leaving.
It broke Julian's heart that his daughter had to go through the same thing he went through, but he was and is determined for her to feel loved, which is why he decided it would be best to leave New York and move back to Aurora Bay.
While he couldn’t find his mom in New York, he certainly found her when he returned back home and it wasn’t a joyous reunion. He’s been back for eight years and he’s still not on good terms with her.
Because his aunt had an amazing connection, the original owner of Driftwood Coffee Shop was looking to retire and travel around the world and Julian was a former barista/manager in desperate need of a job. So he is now running a coffee shop in the same town where he used to know the sheriff personally.
He’s still the same charming Julian, just not as chaotic. If there is one thing that becoming a father taught him, it is that he has the capability of taking things seriously.
Headcanons:
Julian hates the taste of beer but drinks it because he thinks it makes him look rugged. (He's stupid, y'all).

He is a very active father. PTA dad, goes to all her recitals, and every other posts on instagram is something about Gracie.
His daughter has a cat named Carl, but he affectionately calls him little shit. He loves him...sometimes.
His cousins (Wanted connection) are like his siblings. They were raised together and he is fiercely protective of them.

"I mean...rough is definitely a word for it, my dude." Celeste told him with a laugh, shooting an easy little grin his way. The man looked wholly lost in his head and only people who did that instead of just pounding back shots truly had something on their plates. (Go figure- her mother always berated her for not making something of herself, and here she was, being a b-grade psychologist). She snapped out of her thoughts as the man spoke again and she hummed, turning around to reach behind the bar for her half-drank beer and she dropped it down onto the bar top. "There. Now I wouldn't say you're alone."
Julian was glad when she joined him, welcoming the company to keep him away from his more than unpleasant feelings. "Are you just using me as an excuse to keep drinking on the job?" He joked with a smile forming on his lips. "Well since you're joining me for the night, I guess I should at least introduce myself to the woman saving me from my thoughts. I'm Julian."
It is rare for Julian to dissolve into a speechless puddle around him and one of those times was just about to happen, as he noticed the blonde that was approaching him. "Astrid." He greeted with a bright smile on his lips, trying to ignore the little thump in his heart as he began to speak again. "Are you teaching summer courses? I didn't expect to see you here today." Honestly, Julian shouldn't really be there either but when a former student contacted him asking for help, he felt it was only right to extend his support.
"So I did something really stupid." Not exactly the way that anyone should start a conversation with their friend, but by this point, Julian was sure that Jared was used to it. "I need you to be my alibi. I was here at your shop the whole afternoon. I promise I didn't do anything illegal. Just stupid."
"Hey." It was a simple greeting. A little too simple. So simple that Julian could smack himself for sounding so bland. At this point, it had been years since they were together, and yet, it still felt strained to have a plain conversation. "Uh...I have to pick up a floral order that my uncle placed." Truthfully, Julian was sure he sent him on purpose, but maybe now could be the time that Julian right some wrongs that he had done...or possibly not.
Julian let out a soft gasp as a look of alarm crossed his face. "Are you suggesting that we commit breaking and entering? Diana...what would the owner think if they knew that we did that? Even if the owner is a bank...what would the bank think? I'm--I'm disappointed in you." He shook his head, trying to keep up the act a moment longer before a smile cracked on his lips. "I'm just fucking with you. Of course, I'll sneak in with you."
Julian felt relieved hearing her explanation for why there weren't a lot of customers around. He truly didn't want to be that barfly in town that didn't know when to leave. "What gave it away? I look that rough, huh?" He questioned as a short chuckle left his lips and he lifted up the newly filled glass. "Or is it because I'm here on a weekday night, drinking alone?" As he finished speaking, he took a sip of his drink.
Julian shook his head before letting out a soft laugh. "No, it wasn't going too fast. I'm not that metal. It was some couple and they started talking about some weird shit. We were just leaving a stop sign, so I decided to tuck and roll, when they were barely accelerating, and then ran off to a diner." He explained a little further. "What's the riskiest thing you've ever done?"
“What’s the riskiest thing you’ve ever done?” Lily asks, forcing herself out of her head by engaging anybody in her immediate vicinity. “Like, looking back you can’t believe you actually did it.”
Julian’s eyes widened a bit at the question. He had done so many risky things that sometimes he was surprised he was even alive. “It’s hard to narrow down the riskiest thing I’ve ever done but I guess I could say the one time I hitchhiked across the country. I met some...interesting people. I had to tuck and roll out of one of the cars.”

Lalita had been practically kicking a a box of records into the trash outside the venue. She knew it was a waste of materials and that someone could get mad at her for doing such a thing but she hated the fact that people acted like she was someone who could be bought off to play their music. She was part of a dying occupation; especially since streaming had been the main way of discovering new music and that was perhaps why she was even more annoyed at the prospect of being treated like she had a price. “ it’s not what it looks like. I’m not destroying something amazing “ she replied finally getting the box into the trash. “ why do people act like everyone has a damn price. “ she replied shaking her head before kicking the trash can. “ do you wanna pretend you didn’t see that and go watch a good show with me ?”
“You’re not throwing away records outside a music venue?” Julian was more than amused by what seemed like a bit of irony in the situation. “Damn, it isn’t something amazing? I guess these bands were shitty?” He asked humor laced in his voice. It was not his intention to stop and have a conversation with someone and it definitely wasn’t in his plans to watch a show but he could put off his obligations for a little while longer. “I didn’t see a thing. So who’s playing in this show today? I’m assuming someone amazing.”
Celeste didn’t mind working Mondays since the bar tended to close up shop early, like now. She was wiping down the bar top but every now and then glanced to the man sitting at the edge, and finally after a solid ten minutes of cleaning around him, she finally decided to pipe up. “You uh..okay over there? Wanna order another drink? Or need anything?” She wondered, tilting her head as she gave him a look over.
To say Julian’s day was stressful would be such an understatement. What started off as what he suspected to be a normal family dinner with his aunt and uncle, quickly turned into an argument when his mother decided to show up. He desperately needed to unwind, so in an attempt to find some kind of activity to keep his mind off of things, he headed to The Reef Bar. Unfortunately, two drinks wouldn’t be enough. He was taken out of his own thoughts when the bartender spoke to him. Instantly, Julian felt rude. How long had he been sitting there, while she was working around him? “Uh...yeah. Could I get another whisky sour?” He asked but instantly realized as he took a look around him that the bar was pretty empty. “Oh fuck! Is the bar closed?”

They were together for four years when his girlfriend became pregnant. He was surprised that he was actually excited about the thought of being a father, which is why it was all the more crushing when his girlfriend suffered a miscarriage.
While it was hard on him, it was even harder on her. The stress and grief caused added tension to their relationship and they broke up.
He immersed himself back into his schooling and went back to college at a state university in New York to finish off his degree. Once he was finished, he moved back to Aurora Bay.
While he couldn’t find his mom in New York, he certainly found her when he returned back home and it wasn’t a joyous reunion. He’s been back for six years and he’s still not on good terms with her.
He teaches at Aurora Bay High School as a history teacher. While his students have one perception of him, he’s definitely not as mature as they might think he is.
He’s still the same charming Julian, just not as chaotic. If there is one thing that his past relationship taught him, is that he has the capability of taking things seriously. Also, he really wants to be a father. He wants to start a family of his own, but abandonment issues and his lack of commitment make it difficult to even begin a relationship.
