'More To This' on Pandora
Awesome news! Pandora is now playing 'More To This'! This means that thousands of new people will be hearing the track (and seeing the sweet cover art that Guts & Glory did for me). That last album has had ~100k plays and counting, excited to see what happens.
We've Worn Them Out [live]
A quick update on what's happening with the EP. We're making a music video for the next single!! You can skip the chitty chatty below and go straight to the inspiration board my director and I have put together (so far) on Pinterest.
Making a music video is a lot of fun. We're tidying up the script this week, and we've got a lot of visual ideas to make this video a tasty piece of eye-candy. If you've read this far I'm impressed (I would have clicked the link already)!
"The track is amazing–we’re not lying. It’s got this great mix of good vocals, alt-rock beats, and electro-pop melodies"
Here's what Vancouver's pop culture news site the Permanent Rain Press had to say about our first single 'More To This' off our forthcoming EP Collide A Scope.
Cover Art
Just wanted to highlight the awesome cover that Guts & Glory did for the 'Collide A Scope' EP (secret cover options are also up on their site). Thank you ladies, it was an honor to work with you!
At long last...
After a little over 1 year of steady recording, experimenting, writing, rewriting, and rewriting, and rewriting. Thousands of conversations with my producer like "can we add a bit more whomp in the outtro?", or "the ah-ah-ahs sound a little fuzzy, can we make them creamier?" --- we're done!
Not only that, but FACTOR think's it's good enough to actually give me money to get this thing out the door. Worth mentioning this is not X-FACTOR we're talking about here .. its just FACTOR ;) -- the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent On Recordings (I'm Canadian). Thank you FACTOR for giving this album a +1!! It's the first good review of hopefully many more to come.
It's too early to pin down an exact release date, but I can tell you it's going to be named "Collide A Scope". I can also tell you there are are 6 songs all of which have passed my personal 'spine tingle' test.
More to come..
Songza, Pandora and Spotify.. Oh My!
Album art by Christian Nicolay
Before the first single from the 2014 EP is released (very soon). It's worth celebrating the accumulated success of the Painted Thief EP - which is currently getting over 12k plays per month around the world in coffee shops, retail stores, living rooms etc. Thanks to music services like Songza, Pandora, and Spotify.
If you use any of these and you like our music, please try following the related station or artist profile - it's a big help!
In the meantime, for your enjoyment:

The Painted Thief EP on Spotify
Here's a simple love song I put together during one night in my home studio -- in the nick of time for the V-day. This has nothing to do with the upcoming album, it's just for fun. Enjoy!
While quite a bit different from the usual craft of song you'll hear on here, it's still definitely worth mentioning. I did the score for this fun little snippet! Was great to stretch the creative muscles with something that would never have the chance to happen on its own.
Sadly, we never made a music video for this song - but one of our fans who heard us on the Hunting Season (S1, E6) soundtrack put a this up on YouTube for us. It's not really a video in the sense that there's no moving images, but it warms the heart :)
Sooo.. what's up with JF&PT?
Hey, it’s been awhile, so here’s the latest on what’s happening with the music... and yes, those are my songwriting journals, with real live lyrics ;p
Check it out - Victoria's Secret is using the music I created for their 'Fun on the Set' video

There's Alot of Love in the Room
It's hard to explain what it's like as a musician playing out. Other artists will have their own experience and perspective, but I'd like to share what's happening with us because it's pretty great. Playing out and performing live music is always fun. Passion and creativity create this feeling of being *alive*, especially when shared with others. On top of that, lately our shows have this aspect of celebration, creating a warm place where people are meeting each other and having fun. A friend of mine, someone I'd met a week earlier, came to our Cinco de Mayo show, it was his first time seeing us play. He wrote to me after the show "Seems there was a lotta love in the room!". I've felt like this is the case for awhile now and it's nice to hear it from someone who isn't familiar with what we're doing. Anyhow, it really means a lot when you come out to dance, sing and laugh with us. We're having the time of our lives and it's because you're there by our side! Thank you.
