it’s the innocence of the second verse that kills me the most.. the pure childhood cluelessness... ‘i’ve been meaning to tell you / i think your house is haunted / your dad is always mad and that must be why’... as kids we don’t understand why the adults around us do what they do. especially when it comes to abuse. your little friend down the street doesn’t understand why your dad runs around like a madman everyday, so it must just be the house making him so angry
