I don’t understand why gender is such a big deal. THERE’S SO MUCH BEYOND!!!! I AM SO MORE THAN JUST A GENDER!!!!! Why do I need to do something just because I am a certain gender. i was going to post something similar to this. Why must we follow a concrete ruleset that men and women are this and that? why is it that genders are automatically labeled?

its most likely traditional, the fact that women were the ones cleaning back then in homes and were mainly allowed to clean, while men had to work and provide.

another thing that i see many complain over is (tw)

rape, that all men are rapist. which isnt true, because any gender can truly be of such. why focus so much on the gender identity rather than the action? some people may not notice it, but those people focus on the gender so much more than the action.

And focusing on how more men kill than women? or how more women use sexual ways to earn money? why not focus on the action alone? like how any gender can do equal damage as what the stereotype is believed to be. That how any gender can do any action that is also equally positive, such as caring for a home or working at a job.

Said bad person didn’t do something bad because they are a man or a woman, they did something bad BECAUSE THEY ARE BAD. Character and personality matters, not the gender. It’s just an addiction that influence over our bodies the slightest. One can choose to be good or bad because we are rational, we have free will; one can’t use gender as an excuse to do something, it shouldn’t take over our actions.

And it’s sad these gender rules are bad for everyone, cuz it represses so much of who a person is. A man can’t be emotional because it’s lame, a woman can’t be strong because it’s shameful (or because she’s showing off). THAT’S ANNOYING. LET PEOPLE BE PEOPLE, NOT THEIR GENDER

UNFORTUNATELY gender roles are so ingrained in our society in a patriarchal society that it does influence the actions of a person… men are socialized and treated in ways that can foster terrible behaviors and beliefs about women and what they can do to them (when you don’t see women as people it def makes it easier to harm them 😭) and vise versa, women are socialized and treated by society as less then people and more of sex so it’s much more common to find women in sex work

these things are so important to discuss for the purpose of analyzing why it is that these statistics are skewed in the ways that they are so we can unwound how we’ve structured society to make such a difference .. social psychology and politics have crazy effects !! you have to acknowledge the action as a result of how society treats someone because of their sex (misogynistic society does not care how you identify..) to get the full picture

however it definitely shouldn’t be used for the purposes of biological determinism, like saying someone does something because of their sex (like da mitch said) because it’s innate because that’s simply not true.. terfs have such an issue with this 😭 it’s not the sex it’s the socialization of person
