Persona 4 : Investigation Team
a little heart to heart | yu
He didn’t know what to say.
Maybe he wasn’t paying full attention to his partner. Was that it? Was that the reason that Yu went to the true suspect of the first two Inaba murders instead of him or anyone else of the IT?
That can’t be.
"You…you idiot," Yosuke whispers.
His clenched fist then goes straight for Yu’s face.
A fist collided with his face, making him stagger back. His hand trailing up to the red skin, he decided that, no, Yosuke didn’t understand.
The brunette had hit him first, and he had lost all reason within him. After recovering, he quickly ran back, pulling his fist back and flinging it towards his old friend’s jaw. He couldn’t respond with words anymore. Just actions.
Sweat beaded on his forehead, trailing down his chin as he grabbed the other’s uniform collar. He was ready to swing another fist at him, but he stopped, his ragged breathing causing his shoulders to rise and fall; his glare focused primarily on Yosuke’s eyes.
He just couldn’t do it…
They were just...staring at each other now. Yosuke's jaw had taken a pretty big hit. Still had it in him, Yosuke thought.
Yu's fist was retracted back. Yosuke knew that his ex-partner didn't have it in him to hit him again. As Yosuke's shirt collar was grabbed, he chuckled a bit. Tears were only slightly just beginning to form in his eyes.
Yosuke's heart started beating fast. It was...a while since he had this sort of physical contact with Yu. Whatever made him do it...he didn't know. Nostalgia, maybe.
Through Yu's grip, he forced a hug onto the accomplice.

Now he was starting to get pissed.
"Were none of us ‘true friends’ to you, Narukami? Did we not fit your criteria of creepy-ass murderers?"
Yosuke’s hands balled up into fists. The year that they spent together really did mean nothing. He wanted to beat Yu up, put him in a corner, make him think about what he did. Then, maybe the next morning, things would be back to normal - but Yosuke knew it wouldn’t be that easy.
Yosuke spoke again. “Why, though?” He asks, voice cracking.
It seems that why is the only thing Yosuke can muster.
His breath hitched, unable to say a word. Yosuke’s words caused his chest to pinch, an ache rocking throughout his upper half as he glared at the other. “You don’t understand, Yosuke.” He murmured, his voice calm despite his boiling blood.
His friends… he needed his friends. What would he be without them? There was his friends, and then there was Adachi. However, the two groups were like oil and water. They couldn’t mix; they couldn’t compromise.
"If you knew anything… Anything that went on in my mind back then…!” His volume hit a crescendo, his hands balling into fists as well. All of the conflicts in his head, the sacrifices he had to make. Being the ‘hero’, while also being satisfied with his own decisions. Where did his loyalties lie?
He didn’t really know, himself.
"Did you notice?" The conflict he instantly felt as soon as he found out who the culprit was… Did Yosuke see it in his eyes? Did he ever notice? "Friends can always tell what the others are feeling, can’t they?" His voice was quiet once more, his focus now on the floor. "You wanted to be the hero once, didn’t you? Did you understand what that really meant?"
He didn't know what to say.

If this meeting were under different circumstances, Yosuke wouldn’t feel absolutely sick with worry. Was Adachi hiding out in the halls in case something…went wrong?
No. He had to be brave.
He had to find out why. Its been eating at him mercilessly since the betrayal, and he had only gathered up the courage to ask him now.
"Narukami-kun." Yosuke says, with a sad smile. The smile then soon falters.
"…why Adachi? Why Him?”
Despite the extinguished flame that was Yosuke’s smile, Yu’s expression didn’t dare change. He had to convince Yosuke that he didn’t regret what he did, and that he never would regret it.
"Adachi-san is a friend." After everything that he did for his uncle, Nanako, and even himself… He couldn’t allow for him to be arrested. No, Adachi was too important to him. “A true friend. I sided with him on my own will.”
His voice was quiet, mowing over his own thoughts. Why was Adachi so important? Why did he want to protect him? There was a weird warmth in his chest whenever he thought of the older male, and…
Christ.
"I chose him over the IT because that is what I believed was right. I did what I wanted to do, and I’m content."
Now he was starting to get pissed.

One breath.
Another more.
He grips onto his monomessenger as he searches for his ex-partners name and taps away, the sounds of the cafeteria at night buzzing with minimal excitement.
to: narukami from: yosuke
this’ll probably get deleted and you’ll probably ditch me for your boyfriend but if you could meet me in the cafeteria thatd be great
And…send.
The night would play itself out from there.
Oh. A message; and it was from Yosuke? Something urged him tojust delete it. He didn’t want anything to do with the IT anymore. He was Adachi-san’s partner now, and they were the enemy.
Enemy.
Enemy, enemy, enemy.
It became easier to say with each time it rolled off his tongue.
However, he went against his mind’s will, opening the message and reading the words sent to him. A meet-up? It seemed almost suspicious, and he thought of messaging a certain someone just in case something were to happen…
To: Adachi-san From: Narukami Yu
In the cafeteria. Meeting Yosuke. If I don’t message again, something happened.
If something happened to him, Adachi would know who he had been with last. Pressing send, he shut off his monomessenger before heading to the cafeteria.
He hadn’t stood him up, thankfully. Seeing the brunette, he approached silently, his eyes cold as he stared him down. “Did you want to talk?”

the president has arrived | open
Labrys was ready for her first day of high school. This was her chance of becoming a normal girl. She was away from scientists and experiments. She was bright eyed as she walked through the school. The robot viewed this as a fresh start. Maybe she could have friends and join clubs. She could be the student council president she had always dreamed of being. And she would be the best damn student council president Hope’s Peak has ever seen!
She continued her exploration of the school with enthusiasm. It was then that her eyes landed on a student running through the hall. That wasn’t very safe! They could trip and fall or even run into someone. Or something. Labrys simply had to say something. She had to keep her fellow students safe.
“Hey, you there! No runnin’ in the halls!”
Labrys spoke confidently but realized the person might not even listen to her. After all, she wasn’t human. Who’d wanna be ordered around by some machine? But she had to keep herself confident.
"Listen, I can explain --"
Oh no.
Was that Labrys? The summer uniform, the accent, and her beautiful hair - all of those were Labrys attributes. When one of his friends showed up, another seemed to follow. When would it stop?
"L-Labrys!"
