hereâs a very good gif I just saw
hey folks in or around Salem, Oregon...
Coffee shop owner Deirdre Echols is getting death threats, boycotts, and harassment by neo-Nazis after sharing anti-Trump sentiments to her personal Facebook page. Theyâre making a concerted effort to force her through intimidation into closing down her business, Arbor Hut Espresso.
Sheâs maintained a 5 star review for almost five years, but spamming by deplorable sacrosanct the country lowered it to 3.9 overnight. Online extremist news sites are calling people to arms to troll and harass her.
So, if you live in Oregon and youâre not a cockroach wearing the skin of a man, consider ordering a coffee from Arbor Hut Espresso and leaving a nice review. Sheâs currently trying to raise a little extra money to install better security.
Salem resident here, not a big coffee drinker, but I wanted to add this link to the gofundme for added security.Â

TV show idea:Â
Baby boomers have to switch life situations with a millennial for a year. The millennial gets to live in their house (which they paid off like thirty or forty years ago) and work at their job that provides a good salary and benefits. The baby boomer has to live in the millennialâs shitty, overpriced apartment and struggle to pay rent and work a minimum wage part-time job as well as an unpaid internship in their (the baby boomerâs) field.Â
The show can be called Switching Cribs and every time the baby boomer throws a tantrum a little cartoon of a baby crying appears in the corner of the screen.Â

Standing Rock: Live update on the camp the morning after evacuation, night of arrests
On the morning of Thursday, Feb. 23, Standing Rock was burning.
Just one day after the Wednesday deadline to evacuate the camp, only an estimated 25 to 50 protesters remained, reluctant to abandon the last vestiges of the failed movement to oppose the Dakota Access pipeline.
Those that stayed set fire to tents and other monuments around the encampment. North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum said that cleanup crews were scheduled to enter the once-bustling camp at 9 a.m. local time.
Wednesday night police in riot gear detained 10 protesters on the road near the campâs main entrance on Wednesday night.
During the press conference, Burgum said that those who were arrested would be charged with âObstruction of a Government Function,â a class B misdemeanor.
Chase Iron Eyes, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe that led the resistance, said that shutting down the camp would not dampen protestersâ spirits.
âYou canât arrest a movement,â he told Reuters. âYou canât arrest a spiritual revolution.â Read more (2/23/17 11:22 AM)

them: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST MEANS HUMANS MUST BE INDIVIDUALLY SELF-SUFFICIENT AND COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT
biologist:
Like literally the only reason we didnât go extinct is because we are aggressively social creatures who community organized and helped each other when faced with disasters that drove other species over the brink.Â
(Like weâre so aggressively social that we looked at APEX PREDATORS and went âthey look soft! Friend????â)
(The answer was yes because wolves are also aggressively social and they adopted the strange tall not-wolves just as eagerly.)
humans @ wolves: holy shit these things are so cute i wonder if theyâll let us pet them?
wolves @ humans: holy shit these things are so cute i wonder if theyâll pet us?
Just in case people want source, here you go: humans are compelled to help each other in disaster situation, humans feel an innate urge to help others. We will help strangers too, not just family, and it has been tested.Â
Also weâve always taken care of our elderly and disabled. When life was literally âhunt and gather every day to liveâ, we saw value in taking care of those with disabilities.Â
yeah cool and make young parents, almost always mothers, never leave the house again and socially isolate and publically embarrass em cuz they canât afford babysitters for years, cool idea. at what point as a culture have we decided to hate on kids collectively. is it since the invention of refined sugars, I wouldnât surprised if there was a connection.
And then be surprised when the children have zero social skills because theyâve been told theyâre not welcome on account of Not Being Real People But Dogs Are Totally Ok.
âŚwow the comments on this are fucking scary. How many of the people going âyes ban kids from public spacesâ are also feeling disrespected by baby boomers? Do you fuckers not understand that Children. Are. People.Â
Iâm conflicted about this, and I think itâs because the children that are most disruptive are the offspring of people who do not believe Children Are People, and that is the whole source of the problem.Â
I absolutely think thatâs true. We need to allow for the fact that kids are adults in training and will often require our patience and leniency. BUT they respond much better to being treated with respect than, by default, as a nuisance. Kids in adult spaces are in a very difficult position. They are in a place where they canât play freely, because it might disrupt the peace- so itâs up to adults who require them to behave with more control to include them and offer them something in exchange. Like, shit, itâs not fun when youâre five and thereâs a family dinner and all the adults are talking about adult stuff you donât understand, no one wants to talk to you because theyâre not interested in the things that fascinate you, but youâre also expected to sit quietly and politely for as long as the adults need you to. Â And follow certain rules you might not even know exist yet. And not interrupt the conversation because whatever you say is not as important as whatever adults have to say, for some reason.
People often donât realise how much self-control they actually demand from children. There was this excellent post once about how yes, you CAN take walks with your toddler, if you just account for the fact that they take smaller strides and walk slower than you. Scale down the experience. Make it inclusive. Make it enjoyable for everyone. Kids are People, and Kids are Not As Experienced Or Capable As You.
And also chill with the reactions to kids existing- soooo many people get all annoyed if they just hear a childâs voice. But if an adult says something a little louder, or does something clumsy, itâs no big deal. Every time I take an airplane and thereâs a little kid, their babbling and whimpering and, yes, even crying is way less annoying than the exasperated sighs and demands to âshut that kid up!â from entitled adults around me. Like, ok, the babyâs a baby, whatâs your excuse for being rude and disruptive?
Whenever I see a child at a restaurant being ignored by their parents I try to engage the child in peek-a-boo or waving or just smiling. I know how bad social anxiety is, and I want to do my best to make sure no one else is forced into it - by making sure that being in public is a desired thing for the child. It has the side effect of reducing crying and yelling, because the child is too entranced to think of crying.
Ultimately, I wish children were treated like dogs, in that people look forward to seeing them and interacting with them, even complimenting them. And that dogs were treated more like children, with owners watching out for them and there not being regulations treating them as pariahs to be hidden or shunned.
This whole hating on children trend is so ugly
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT holy crap
Even if you donât like kids, be nice to them, treat them with dignity. They did nothing to you, especially not purposefully. A child wonât understand why an adult is being mean to them, but the psychological and emotional toll will be very real for them.
me: i can't wait for people to read this story!!
brain: you have to finish writing it if you want people to read it
me:
me: now that doesn't sound right
I needed to say this because I feel like respect has been forgotten.
isnât it funny how he thinks itâs his place to defend the guy who paid two men to hold a sign that said âdeath to all jewsâ on the internet but didnât think it was his place to condemn the worst mass shooting in recent history?
Iâm sorry Mark, but itâs one or the other. ether you believe it isnât your place to speak on hate crimes against minorities that you arenât a part of, or you donât, but the fact that you chose this topic to brake your silence on and in this way speaks volumes.
âdeath to all jewsâ isnât a joke (and you wanna talk ârespectâ? how about respecting jews? do jews not count as people in need of respect? cause lemme tell ya, âdeath to all jewsâ or âdeath toâ any oppressed minority is beyond disrespectful), and the fact that he even for a second thought to do that tells us everything we need to know about him as a person, and the fact that you think itâs ok to even refer to it as a joke says a lot about you as well (and donât think I didnât notice the way you changed your voice, made it deeper, and used the volume and tone to intimidate us into not speaking out. hate to break it to ya but that only works irl).
jewish families have continued to be targeted by nazis. the end of the war never stopped them. anti-Jewish violence is seven times higher than in the 1990s, and 40% of racist violence is against Jews, despite them making up just 1% of the population.
and Iâd also like to remind everyone of this
Mark wants to insist that no matter how bad a person someone is, we must treat them with respect, and basic human decency.
tell me Mark, do you think this man will treat us with the same respect that youâre demanding we treat him and those like him?
you say âweâre ether all people who deserve respect or weâre notâ and let me make it clear if that image isnât enough: he thinks we are not, and openly talks about genocide, as nonchalantly as we talk about removing mosquitoes from the planet.
you say âwe must take the high roadâ, and claim itâs hard because itâs âlonelyâ.
Iâm sorry Mark, but it isnât âhardâ because itâs âlonelyâ, itâs impossible because doing so will result in our deaths. (and btw? what youâre doing here isnât âthe high roadâ thatâs taken a lot of courage to take. it is, in fact, incredibly cowardly)
it is extremely easy to blow us off when you arenât the one being targeted, when you arenât the one being dehumanized and treated like a pest in need of extermination.
you arenât the one scared to go to your place of worship because today could be the day itâs bombed with you in it. you arenât the one scared walking down the street because today could be the day a police officer decides youâre a threat. you arenât the one scared to hold the hand of your significant other (let alone kiss) because today could not only be the day that you yourself and your partner are murdered, but that show of affection could be the thing that sets off someone to then go and massacre your community.
if we lived in a world without bigotry, particularly this kind of wildly unchecked racism, maybe. maybe this could be a statement to listen to, or at least think about.
but until men in power stop debating my humanity and wondering how to best rid me from existence, along with everyone else deemed less than human, this could not be more ignorant, silencing, and actively helpful for men like richard spencer.
I want to reiterate something I was having a hard time putting into words last night.
the biggest problem I have with this, is the victim blaming.
he targets the entire message at the victims speaking out. he completely glossed over the actions of pewdiepie and focused the entire video on the message that âno matter how bad the person is, they deserve respectâ
yet at no point did he call out bigots and tell them âno matter what you think of any minority, they are still human and deserving of respectâ
he never addressed anyone besides those calling out bigotry, other than a single sentence about not defending the âjokeâ which he claims pewdiepie had already apologized for (which in reality, was mostly him talking about himself and how many fans he has, and very little actual apologizing).
and thatâs where the problem really lies.
had this been a âhey nazis, jews are people too and deserving of respect, and hey jews nazis are still people too and deserving of respect, and those who donât respect other human beings are the true bad peopleâ Iâd have a lot less issue with this message. thereâd still be some fucked up things in need of addressing, but at least then truly the intent would have been..at least there would have been an attempt at something good.
but instead this entire video is âhey jews, nazis are people too and deserving of respect, and if you donât give them that respect youâre the real bad personâ period, end of statement, all while using curse words and volume and visibly barely restrained anger (and everyone knows how violent and dangerous an angry man is) which was clearly meant to intimidate us into compliance.
that is the biggest reason this message is such a mess, and really shows where Markâs actual morals lie.
There it is, I knew Markiplier was garbage.

Welcome Place worried it will run out of resources if asylum-seekers keep pouring into Manitoba from U.S.
A Winnipeg centre that welcomes and houses newcomers is putting out a public call for help after getting another surge of asylum-seekers over the weekend.
Welcome Place, a temporary home for newcomers in Winnipeg, is full and has no more rooms for refugee claimants who may still be coming to the city Sunday.
21 asylum seekers crossed into Manitoba Saturday: reeve
22 refugees entered Manitoba near Emerson border over the weekend
Many Somalis in Minnesota âwilling to take the riskâ to sneak into Canada
âThatâs a big concern,â said Rita Chahal, the executive director of the Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council.
At least 21 asylum-seekers were caught by RCMP walking into Manitoba during the wee hours Saturday morning.
The surge is the latest in a trend of refugee claimants fleeing on foot to Manitoba from the United States. Chahal said sheâs worried what will happen if more asylum seekers show up at Welcome Place.
âThe numbers, if they keep growing, I donât have the financial resources to hire more staff,â she said Sunday.
Chahal said the Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council could use more donations or help from other agencies to find places for refugees to stay temporarily.

To anyone who has ever tried to tell me not to worry about or protest US politics because Iâm Canadian, this, and fuck you.
I am worried because vulnerable people are risking life and limb (some have lost fingers to frostbite) to get out of the US and into Canada, because it is no longer safe for them there. And our welcome centres are full, and running out of supplies, trying to keep up with the number of people fleeing the US and the Republican administrationâs bigoted policies.
And if youâre gonna start talking garbage about deporting these people, and risk to security, and financial burden, also fuck you. These are human beings scared for their lives.
You can donate to the Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council (âWelcome Placeâ)Â here.
