shikamaru learning suna dialect for temari is canon to me
• shikamaru secretly deciding that if he’s going to date temari he needs to understand whatever she and her siblings are saying when they suddenly switch into suna dialect
• him pretending he’s too lazy to care while secretly taking notes every time kankuro and temari start talking fast in it
• gaara being the first to notice shikamaru slowly understanding their insults and just quietly observing the situation like a social experiment
• shikamaru practicing suna phrases under his breath while playing shogi and accidentally calling a piece by the dialect name
• temari freezing mid-sentence like “hold on. why did you pronounce that correctly”
• shikamaru acting confused like “pronounce what” while internally panicking
• kankuro immediately escalating the dialect difficulty like a language exam just to see shikamaru suffer
• shikamaru finally trying to flirt in suna dialect and accidentally saying something that technically translates to “your wind technique terrifies my soul”
• temari staring at him for five seconds before bursting out laughing because that’s the most awkward compliment she’s ever heard
• shikamaru learning all the sand-village metaphors just so he can say things like “the desert’s quieter when you’re not around” and pretending it’s accidental

The horrid scene of Aiden collapsing after pushing you out of the way keeps replaying over and over again.
You were desperately trying to pull him under one of the tables in the room and, as you finally managed to, you pulled him close with trembling hands, tears falling down on his cheek where they mixed with the crimson blood as they traveled further down his face, now orange from the just adopted color.
When all of you woke up, everyone dashed to Aiden, but you remained frozen until rushing to the nearest bathroom kneeling in front of the toilet to puke.
Tears kept forming, blurring your vision, but nonetheless, the image of Aiden's blood-smeared face and his painfully widen eyes didn't leave.
Though that putrid image was quickly replaced by Aiden's gentle expression when you turned around to see who was caressing your back.
" You really got a weak stomach, don't you? " He teases, but there's no bite to it, it's more like a poor attempt at a comic release.
He handed you a glass of water so you could wash out the acidic taste in your mouth, which you gladly took.
" I knew something would happen. After the Tyler incident, I knew something else was coming sooner or later, but I never—" You barely managed to speak through your crying, the hiccups kept cutting you off and made it hard to breathe. " I never would've thought it would be that soon or that it would be you. "
" Don't break your brain trying to think about it. It happened, and it won't happen again, also I'm doing just fine. "
You just stared at him, trying to catch a breath, wiping your eyes.
He kneeled next to you," Sorry, I'm no good at this. I don't really— just tell me what I can do to make you feel better. "
" Can I get a— " a hiccup interrupted you once again and Aiden is fighting the urge to finish your sentence with ' hooyah '. " Hug? " You finish.
" Yeah, yeah sure common, " he pulled you towards him after throwing his other arm around your shoulder.
You scooted closer and closed the remaining space, cheek resting on his broad shoulder and arms wrapped around his waist, inhaling the sleepy smell that clinged to him.

" Y/n? " Logan shakes your shoulder slightly, your head snaps towards him.
I didn't even notice he was touching me.
" Not saying this to be rude, but you look really ill, are you sure you don't want to go to the nurse? " Taylor smiles at you, her eyebrows raised upwards in pity.
" Yeah, I guess I should go. I feel really nauseous. " You breath hitches as you feel your stomach twisting.
" Do you need to throw up? " Taylor asks and you nod so she runs with you to the nearest trash can that's not in a swarmed hallway.
" Oh you poor thing. " She rubs your back.

Later that day, after Taylor left the hospital after visiting Tyler, he calls Aiden.
" Yooo whatsuppp? " Aiden chreers, "Can we face call? "
" No. "
Aiden presses the button anyway.
Tyler clicks his tongue annoyed as he sees Aiden light up on his phone screen,
" I just told you not to, dickhead. "
Aiden ignores him," Why are you calling? Do you miss me? "
" Not really, it's about Y/n. "
Aiden swallows, " ... okay. What about them? "
" I just talked with Tay, they're doing really badly. Taylor thinks it might have to do with what happened yesterday. So we were thinking you should check up on them to calm their nerves. "
" Yeah, I can do that. "
" Okay, great bye. " Tyler hangs up.
" Damn. " Aiden mutters, looking at his phone.
As he calls you his phone rests on his chest, you respond immediately, which he didn't notice, so you just sit in silence for a few seconds before you worriedly say, " Hello? "
" Oh hi, didn't notice that you responded already. I was wondering if you could come over? I'm really bored. "
You sigh, glad that it's nothing serious, " Of course, I'll be there in five. "
" Awesome! See ya! "
" Yup, see you. "
You quickly throw on some comfortable clothes that weren't dirty and quickly check yourself out in the mirror before grabbing your keys and heading out.
As you make your way to his house, which was nearby, your phone buzzes.
The backdoor's open btw ;)
You smile at the message.
You type ' Good to know, thanks ' and contemplate whether to add a heart at the end of the message or not.

You quickly put your phone back in your pocket in embarrassment, not being able to look at the message.
Aiden, on the other hand, stared at the message, until you knocked on his door.
" May I come in? " You ask through the door.
" Yup. " He clicks his phone shut.
So you do, peeking inside, before entering.
Aiden lays comfortably on his bed, smiling and resting on his elbows to watch you better.
Seeing him smile makes you sigh out in relief.
" So how are you doing? " You walk towards him sitting down next to him.
" Great, I'm just really bored. " He sits up a little too quick, in your opinion.
" Lay back down. " You blurt in a tone that sounds almost strict.
" My bad LT, " He jokes.
" Sorry. That came off really bad. I'm just— whatever. "
The room grew quiet for a while. Neither of you knew what else to say. You both knew what this was about, but neither of you dared to say anything until Aiden broke the silence. " You don't have to worry anymore, know? I'm okay now. " He smiles.
" I know I just can't help it. " You sigh out, leg bouncing up and down," it just won't leave my head. The way you—" You cut yourself up, turning away from him so you don't start crying.
Only now that you're taking big breaths through your nose do you notice that it kind of stinks in there.
" Dude, when's the last time you opened up a window here? There's no air to breathe in here. "
" Dunno, like the day before yesterday. " He shrugs.
" Ugh, no wonder. " You stand up, making your way to his huge window opening it wide, hands holding onto its sill to stand more comfortably.
Meanwhile, Aiden decided to change the subject," So, what's up with the heart? " He grins widely.
You turn back around, eyebrows furrowed," What do you mean? "
He holds up his phone with your message from earlier, you roll your eyes when you notice what he meant.
" Nothing, I use it with everybody. " You turned back to the window as you felt heat creeping up your neck and face.
" Aw man, so I'm not special? " He sulks as he follows your expressions in the reflection of the window.
You scoff, " Oh, you're definitely special. "
" Hey! What's that supposed to mean? " He gasps in a fake offended manner.
" No, seriously. What's up with the heart? " He tries again, just to annoy you.
" I just told you? I use it with everybody. Drop it. "
" C'mon, we both know that's not true. Show me another person you sended that to. "
" I'm not showing you my chats, are you crazy? "
" Why not? You got a lover or something? " He pushed, but behind that stupid grin of his there was a slight worry that you do.
Oh, he wants to be funny. I'll give him funny.
" I do, actually. " You turn to him to see his smile drop slightly.
You wanted to take the joke further, but you started laughing right after.
" You should've seen your face. "
" You're so mean. " He pouts, turning his back to you.
" Awe, baby. "
" You don't get to call me baby after that. "
" I'm not calling you baby, I'm calling you A baby. I'm making fun of you. "

" Why, do you want me to call you that? " You tease.
" Maybe. "
" I don't know. Baby is a really corny thing to call a person unironically. I'll call you anything but that. "

You were staring at Clarisse about four meters from her, she was sharpening her spear, sitting on some wood trunk with her legs spread and her leaning slightly forward.
She notices you eyeing her — well, hard not to. It wasn't the first time you've been caught gawking by her.
You had this thing where you always stopped whatever you were doing and would just simply look at her, sometimes subconscious, sometimes completely aware and unapologetic.
This time you were supposed to carry some huge plant from the Demeter cabin to Mr. D's office, though you had something or, well, someone else in mind.
You decide to stop in your tracks and set the heavy plant down to get a better look at her, now blocking the way of the other campers who also had to carry other stuff back and forth.
“ What are you looking at ? ” Clarisse finally speaks after you stare at her for at least two minutes.
You answer immediately,“ You. ”
“ Why? ” She cleans her throat, shifting slightly in her makeshift seat, straightening her back.
“ Because,” you start, eyes flicking at her arms.“ I — well. Hard not to. ”
Whatever that means.
Clarisse doesn't really know how to respond to that, so she turns back to her spear, pretending to be busy.
“ Dude, what's taking you so long with the plant? It can't be that heavy. ” Some guy who was also helping to carry stuff around asks.
You snap back to reality and pick it back up.
The guy notices you having a hard time focusing on anything else than Clarisse and offers you to carry it for you.
You mouth a ‘ thank you’ as you hand him the plant before turning back to Clarisse.
“ Sooo, what are you doing? ” You are now standing next to her.
“ What does it look like? ” She says a little too harshly.
“ Right. ” You look down at her spear,“ Are you coming to the bonfire later? ”
She shrugs as she fidgets with the sharp edges of her spear.
“ Don't cut yourself,” you warn.
“ I won't — ah shit. ” She hisses as blood trickles down her finger.
She looks back at you almost embarrassed.
“ It's fine it happens. I've got some Band-Aids. ” You reach into your pants' pocket.
Your gentle fingers cradle hers and you stick the Band-Aid over the wound of her rather rough finger, swiping over it softly to make sure it stays in place.
You could feel your heart beating out of your chest from holding her hand.
“ There. Do you want me to kiss it better? ” You tease.
Clarisse scoffs, the corners of her mouth twitching into an almost smile, “ Funny. ”
“ I've been told I am. ” You admit proudly,“ I'm not joking though. ”
Clarisse's eyes fall onto her now band aided finger and then look back up at you, as if contemplating to actually let you kiss it, but she quickly shakes the thought of as she feels heat creep up her face.
“ Whatever. ”
You smile sweetly and tell her that you want to take a quick shower before it's evening, so you'll leave for now. She nods, turning back to her spear, her eyes following you walking further away.
Shit. She didn't ask if you were going.
“ Are you going? ” she yells embarrassingly loudly out of a sudden,“ To the bonfire I mean,” she adds a little quitter now.
Most of the campers around turned towards the sound of her yelling, some giggling at the scene of Clarisse asking you — who obviously has a crush on her — if you were going tonight too.
“ Yep, that's the plan. ” You nod and so does she.
So you take a quick shower and dress yourself in your camp ‘ uniform ’ once again, making your way to the bone fire.
The weather was quite nice, slightly cold, but that was fine since sitting at the bone fire cuddled up with other campers would warm you up anyway and so would you seeing Clarisse ;).
Unfortunately, that warmth that was fluttering in your tummy quickly turns cold and heavy when you see one of the Aphrodite girls twirling her hair, leaning into Clarisse's side.
You stop at your track right before the place your friends had spared for you, analyzing the situation.
Clarisse doesn't seem uncomfortable, she doesn't look extremely excited either, but still not dismissive.
You know you should make such a deal of such a simple interaction, but you can't help wonder if Clarisse might actually enjoy talking to the girl more than with you. I mean when you talked to her today she seemed pretty dismissive at first. You didn't mind because you thought she was like this with everybody, but she wasn't because if she had been like this with everybody she would've ignored that bitch girl by now.
You shouldn't let your night get ruined by such stupid things, you think to yourself.
Well, too late for that. It is already ruined. Might well leave and sleep over it.
As you're turning your heals to walk back to your cabin, your eyes briefly meet Clarisses, but you don't turn back, instead you speed up.
Clarisse instantly stands up, throws a ' sorry ' over her shoulder before stepping between her friends to follow you.
Fuck she got it all wrong. What do I do? She probably thinks I'm into Chloe now, or Cleo, or whatever her name was.
While following you, Clarisse's speed runs all possible ways of to quickly tell or show you that you're the one she's interested in and comes to the worst conclusion, which is to kiss you.
Before having a second thought about it, she reaches you — her body was practically on autopilot — she grabs your wrist to spin you around and crashes her lips onto yours.
As confused as you are, your hand flies towards the back of her head and her waist, trying to slow her down slightly by caressing her side.
Clarisse, on the other hand, was stiff as a statue even though she was the one who initiated the kiss in the first place.
When the kiss breaks, she gasps for air.
“ Where are you holding your breath? ” You laugh.
“ Uh. Um. ” She blurts.
It was obvious that Clarisse was completely out of concept. The only thing that reminded her that this was real was the lasting taste of your cherry chapstick on her lips.
You don't wait for an answer: “ Though I'm a little confused, I'm really glad you did this. You really need to work on your stiffness though. ” You joked, your hand that was resting on the back of her hand traveling down to the ends of her curls, toying with them.
“ Shut up. ” She chokes, cheeks warming up and ears turning as red as a beet.
“ It's nothing to be embarrassed about. I'll teach you if you let me of yours. ” You smile shyly.
She nods after losing herself in your eyes for a second, swallowing.
“ Sorry, ” she blurts.
“ What for? ”
“ Kissing you. ”
“ I already told you I liked it. ”
“ Yeah," she says, almost like she only realized it now.
“ You dork. ” You pull her back in, lips connecting once again.
