Before i die at Juniata College
NOW HIRING!
Hello followers, new and old! So if you've been keeping an eye on this tumblr, you would have noticed that both admins were seniors, which means... You guessed it... We unfortunately no longer attend Juniata College :( We will both miss it dearly and will never be able to thank everyone there enough for just being who they are and making our time there so special and life changing. That being said, life goes on and is ever changing. We had fun with this tumblr while it lasted, but busy post-college schedules keep us from being able to run this as it should be. (One of us is on a nation wide road trip, the other is in med school. Funny, right?) Point being, we would love for a current Juniata student to take over! Someone who can share pictures and quotes and other POSITIVE things about Juniata that make it so special to them. If you feel like that could be you, please contact us! Happy summer y'all, and have fun back at Juniata!
Hi, I'm just curious. I know Juniata is a wet campus, but is it a big party school? Is there stuff to do on weekends if you don't drink?
I definitely wouldn't classify it as a big parry school. I'll describe it the way an upperclassmen explained it to me as an incoming freshman: if you want to party you can find one, but if you don't it isn't obnoxious and in your face.Personally, I was never a big party person and it's easy to find others who feel the same way. My friends and I would like to hang out and just watch movies or do crafts together on calm weekend nights. But, if you're looking for something to actually do, Juniata tries really hard to provide a lot of weekend fun options. JAB provides entertainment such as musical groups or comedy skits, the theater provides a musical or dance type event once a month, and of course students such as the theater department, the choruses, bands, and the dance club put on shows as well.Huntingdon itself has a lot to explore, too. There are a lot of nice restaurants in town within walking distance, such as the coffee shop Standing Stone and the little pub-like restaurant Boxer's. (try their waffle fries, they're AMAZING.) There's also a movie theater called the Clifton 5 within walking distance that works through juniata clubs and organizations to sometimes give college students a nice discount. Oh! And a cute little cupcake store is within walking distance as well. Delicious. If you or a friend have a car, there also also a bunch of places to eat, shop, and watch movies in Altooona and State College, both about 40 minutes away from Juniata.Like I said, it's not hard to find others to hang out with that aren't into partying. Maybe it's just me, but it's also pretty easy to find other fun things to do.Fellow Juniatians, what do you like to do for fun on the weekends?
ALSO
If any of you have any questions about any Juniata related things (classes, professors, food, tricks and tips to fun and/or survival, etc.) don't be afraid to ask! One of us will try to do our best to help :)
THIS SUDDEN WAVE OF UPDATES BROUGHT TO YOU BY...
NOSTALGIA!
College Christmas tree: going into the woods, chopping down a random Charlie Brown Christmas Tree-esque sapling, and decorating it with spirit and leftover Christmas lights. Securely held up by duct tape and a ribbon tied to the top of the tree and hooked to the ceiling.
Remember that time Madrigal was accidentally named after condoms?
Found in the eco lounge in BAC. Preach.
TENTING. One of the stupidest and most sadistic/masochistic traditions at Juniata that everyone hates to love and loves to hate. "Hey mom guess what, I have bronchitis and haven't slept in 48 hours. BUT I get to shout five golden rings at our Christmas dinner!!!"
Psst... Need an IC class? Take Wine in a Vessel. Includes a weekend trip to the gorgeous Finger Lakes. (Trust me, this picture doesn't even do it justice.) WARNING: Lots of pottery making involved. This was personally my favorite part, but ask some of my friends and they will definitely give you a different opinion... Overall, still by far the best IC course you can take.
Just one of the many gems found in my psych book...
Hipster art? Inspirational saying? Deeper meaning? ...or a clipped sentence from a physics lab procedure that fell onto a compass? We'll let you decide.
Some kid came to baker as Spiderman for Halloween once. He sat by himself and lifted his mask just enough to fit his food in his mouth. A true hero in my books.
Fun fact of the day:
Nothing beats the stress of finals quite like setting up a hammock in your dorm room. To those living in South, I can tell you from experience that it is both totally possible and totally worth it.
Remember that one time there were hot air balloons during family weekend and the winds were so strong, an innocent family almost got taken on an unexpected journey, Wizard of Oz style? Cuz I do.
I didn't get a picture of then, but...
Did anyone else notice the rubber duckies in the fountain during finals week/senior week? People on this campus are so precious.
Juniata, are you even trying anymore?
