whether Cardi B wrote one, two, three or none of her debut album records, we still LOVE HER for who she is as an individual & a global superstar! In this day & time, the mainstream public wants to honor people who appeal to the everyday emotions, common struggles & overall passions of ground level existence. no one gives too many sh*ts anymore about whose the “queen” — not grown people with real lives, anyway.
Cardi won the hearts of America by coming in to only secure her spot — not having hopes of knocking anyone else out of theirs.
that is how Cardi secured the Grammy for “BEST RAP ALBUM”.
lyrically, thematically, stylistically & overall musically, “Invasion of Privacy” is a very cohesive project.
Cardi & her team did not comprise a debut project filled with a bunch of, “record, release & see-what-sticks” type of songs. everything sealed on INVASION blends & follows a sonically tailored direction — one that has lead Cardi to industry gold.
here is the issue: MANY OF US liked & celebrated Nicki Minaj when she went mainstream circa 2009. despite those of us 80s & 90s babies who fully identified her aesthetic mirroring of lil Kim’s signature style, we all were happy to have another bold, attractive, raw rapstress standing at center ring.
then, the smoke & mirrors began to clear. we began to see the “Nicki” that other artists complained about behind the scenes. these individuals were labeled a “hater” for publicly sharing tales about Nicki to support their initial claims of sabotage.
we all began taking sides, but the intelligent ones realized that when more than one person is saying the same thing about an individual, people who aren’t directly related or otherwise associated, there just MAY be some truth to the narrative.
then, Cardi made her way to the forefront of music for what seemed to be a temporary moment.
Nicki said & did EVERYTHING in her powers to paint Cardi as an unappreciative villain & herself as the ‘ whoa is me’ victim. In the process, Nicki alienated not only Cardi’s growing fan base, but those of us who had not even thought about taking sides in the first place.
Nicki rushed what could have been a stellar 4th album for herself, only so she could compete in the landscape of “INVASION OF PRIVACY’s” arrival. Her plan completely backfired.
Nicki thought that her subpar, repetitive lyrics that YES.. she obviously writes on her own, were going to block the universal blessings of the up & comer.
… DOESNT WORK THAT WAY IN THE REAL WORLD.
human beings do not possess the power to truly interfere with the journey that is already paved for the lives of other human beings. not in the long run anyway.
most of us ADULTS, began growing sick & tired of Nicki’s hateful, childish, immature antics. we stopped buying into the hype & organically turned towards the alternative rap female whose personality, attitude, mood & demeanor were a lot more positive, as well as pleasantly relatable.
Nicki turned the public against herself. Cardi, nor Cardi’s fans had anything to do with the shift in female rap dominance.
If Nicki ever wants to redeem herself & be embraced again by consumers or industry insiders, she really DOES need to back away from that Queen Radio, altogether.
Nicki needs to release a simple 10-12 track fifth album that is laced in pure, raw, cohesive rap stylings. The album should be titled, ONIKA & the album artwork should be as basic as an extreme close up of her washed face & real hair slicked to the back.
Nicki needs to not interview, tweet or post anything that isn’t directly related to her album tracks.
…cause guess what? EVERY HEAVY HITTER in the industry is at Cardi right now for a feature or contribution to this highly anticipated sophomore album.
Nicki CAN very well compete with Cardi artistically. sure. but where Nicki fails drastically is the likability factor. you can’t purchase that or have it surgically enhanced.
Cardi is only going to continue selling her lovable personality worldwide, her fashion forward couture style & overall humble presence to the people.
EVERYONE LOVES A FAIRYTALE STORY & CARDI IS OUR MODERN DAY BINDERELLA! 👑
