Remember when I said I had a different lineart drawn for Spireclaw before I realized it suited a different black-and-white tom better? Yeah, this is what I meant. I tweaked it to add the long tail and to suit his face shape better, but yeah. Here’s the best WindClan boy himself, Tallstar!

Something is bothering me about Shadowsight (big shocker):

So, at the end of Broken Code, StarClan tells him they’ve never spoken to him, that he’s never had a connection with them. Every vision he saw, every sign he interpreted, that was all Ashfur.

Okay. That’s fine. It’s annoying and very poorly implemented but it’s fine.

But what about Tawnypelt’s Clan though.

Tawnypelt’s Clan is literally about Shadowkit getting a sign that the Tribe of Rushing Water is in danger. Tawnypelt kidnaps him and Dovewing and goes to save the Tribe from the exact danger that Shadowkit saw.

Did. Did Ashfur send that dream? Why would he? Why would he even care about the Tribe? Did Ashfur fabricate danger to the Tribe for no reason, if that’s something he can even do?? The Tribe’s ancestors aren’t the Clan’s why did this matter at all?!?!

You might say that “Hey, maybe he wanted Shadowkit’s visions to be trusted and thus he made this one to do that” but like. Why the Tribe though? Ashfur spent like a week with them on the Great Journey and then never saw them again. There’s no reason.

Why did Stoneteller make a big deal about Shadowkit’s powers? WHY??

Like, I could see Ashfur whispering into Shadowkit’s ear in AVOS, telling him to go drown himself to unite the Clans together; but again, that brings up the question of why Ashfur would care? His entire goal was to destabilize the Clans and ruin them beyond recognition and this just… helped them? Also this had nothing to do with Squirrelflight - and, for that matter, the Tribe stuff had even less to do with Squirrelflight lmao.

Shadowsight’s “seeing into the shadows” could’ve been really neat, they could’ve spun that as him being able to speak to the Dark Forest cats and hear signs and stuff from them, but they did nothing with it!!! Nothing!!

All in all it’s just kinda nonsense!!!!

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS

Imagine having a cat that can commune with all corners of the spirit realm - all of them. Warriors has steadily gotten more and more supernatural as the series has gone on, it would make perfect sense to just go ham and explore it! This would’ve been perfect for Shadowsight especially, since he was born outside the Clans in the first place - his perspective is already more neutral!!!

Shadowsight making contact with Rock and Midnight and learning the origins of the Power of Three prophecy? Awesome. Communing with the Dark Forest, struggling to learn which signs are real or fake? AMAZING. Not to mention what he could learn from the Sisters and their ghosts - or, even, more time travel shenanigans. It’s such an obvious road to take, with so many possibilities.

Nah, though. We get Shadowsight as a punching bag for six books with 0 payoff other than hey, maybe the medicine cats won’t be so strict about who believes in StarClan anymore - something Mothwing had already done. His achievement doesn’t even get to be special. He doesn’t get to be special.
