AN: This isn’t a fanfic it’s an actually story I’m writing and want to turn into a book this is so I can get feedback and it’s also going on Wattpad. On Wattpad it's called Bungo Ghost Club, but I might change it later on.
Mouse was standing on top of her highschool’s roof, the wind blowing through her ruby hair and her violet eyes focused on the paper she was writing. All of a sudden the wind blew 3 pages of her hard work towards the edge of the roof, but before the papers flew away Mouse grabbed the papers, leaning on the edge of the roof. When she caught the papers she let out a sigh and then she felt a hand on her back push her off the roof. With wide eyes Mouse fell from the top of her highschool, but luckily she landed in the school’s water fountain.
Her life had flashed before her violet eyes, from the time she got her first book to the time she met Honey, her best friend of 3 years, from the time she got her first job to when she first got this stupid assignment. The whole assignment was to write about authors they knew. Mouse knew many authors, from Agatha Christie to Nikolai Gogol.
There Mouse sat in the fountain, drenched, scared, and hurt. She felt a stabbing pain in her side, where her rib cage was. She put her hand over her side and winced at the pain. She started to collect her thoughts, when she heard 2 voices arguing.
“She probably didn’t make it!” one voice yelled.
“How do you know that?! Some people can most likely survive a fall like that” lied the other voice. Mouse knew the other voice was lying but, she was living evidence it was true, or at least she hoped she was living.
“Who are you?” Mouse was moving the hair out of her face, and she looked at the two who were arguing. The voices belonged to two men, one was taller than the other. They both looked pale but the shorter one had a black hat that looked like a fedora, with a beautiful red ribbon around the middle. The one with the hat had blue piercing eyes and short hair, and he wore black clothing (a yukata). The taller one looked soaked, he was dripping wet, but he wasn’t shivering. The most noticeable thing about him wasn’t the blue yukata he was wearing nor his dark hair, or brown eyes, it was the red string tied around his pinkie finger. The string seemed to pull Mouse towards it, but she was still curious to whom the two men were.
The tall one replied with “I’m Osamu Dazai, and the short one is Chuuya Nakahara”
“Chuuya Nakahara and Osamu Dazai” Mouse repeated.
“What’s that string on your finger?” Mouse pointed towards the string.
“It was tied to a beautiful woman’s finger, her name was Tomie.” Mouse knew exactly what happened between Tomie and Dazai, and decided not to press on with any more questions. She just noticed that Chuuya and Dazai weren’t standing in the fountain but above it, floating.
“What are you?” Mouse asked, “and why are you soaking wet?” pointing at Dazai.
“You don’t need to know that at the moment” Mouse finally stood up from her sitting position in the fountain and started to shiver. It was winter after all, and snow had just fallen.
“What happened to me? Am I dead?”
“No,your heart is still beating and you're still physical,’” Chuuya reassured her, “You ‘fell’ from the roof.”
Dazai came to a realization, “Wait, if you aren’t dead, how can you see us?” Mouse shrugged, and Dazai looked at Chuuya, “We have to take her to the others”
“Who are the others?” Mouse cocked her head to the side.
“You’ll find out later” with that Chuuya leads Mouse off of the school's campus and into an abandoned house.
“Who’s that?” a female voice whispered.
“I don’t know, but why is she with Chuuya and Dazai?” another voice questioned, but this time it was a male.
A woman floated over. She wore a beautiful black kimono that had purple flowers, she had midnight black hair and a cherry blossom in her hair and violet eyes that seemed to glow a little. The woman stopped in front of Chuuya and Dazai, who were leading Mouse farther into the abandoned house, “What do you think you two are doing?” The woman looks over to Mouse, “Who is that and why is she here?” Mouse looked toward the floating woman, and she looked shocked.
“I’m Satomi Kobayashi, but I prefer to be called Mouse”
A floating woman looks at Dazai and quickly whispers, “Can she see and hear us?”
“Yosano, calm down. Yes, she can see us and she can hear us” Dazai smiled.
Yosano looked at Mouse, “Satomi you said your name was, I’m Akiko Yosano. Call me Yosano”
“I'd rather you call me Mouse, but it’s fine if you call me Satomi. Nice to meet you, Yosano”
“Satomi over here is our new maid,” Dazai snickered.
“What?!” Mouse exclaimed, “When did I become your maid?!”
“Today, because you can see us and touch stuff unlike us. We’re dead” Dazai explained. With the pain in her side and the shocking news she just heard, she couldn’t take it anymore, and passed out.
