You might find "problematic ships"/controversial work in this blog, so proceed with your own caution. I feel the need to reiterate that engaging with controversial media does not mean that I support the actions depicted in them, but that I find the moral dilemma/mental struggle depicted in them interesting and thought inspiring. Nonprofit fan-authors/artists don't deserve your shit, nor do creators who want to explore the morally grey areas in their fictional work.
Politics:
I support Taiwan & Hong Kong independence 🎗️, so dni if you're a CCP supporter/pro-Chinese government. I'm not interested in your verbal abuse or racist propaganda.
I'd also prefer it if fans of any non-indie media of Chinese origin (e.g. gens*n imp*ct) not interact with me, nothing against you personally but it makes me uncomfortable. Thanks!
Markiplier does on the surface seem like an odd choice for directing and starring in a serious scifi horror movie, but in terms of getting scared at a computer screen and dying badly in space, his resume is remarkably stacked.
having a hometown is such a fucked up concept. i grew up here so i do not want to stay here anymore. i miss it when i am away but once i am back i realise why i wanted to go away as far as possible from it. i am familiar with every corner of this place i did not realise when it slowly changed into something unrecognisable. i would probably like to be buried here but i'd rather die than live here
The thing with Evatrice is that since she represent at the same time Eva's hopes and dreams and her tendency to greed and abuse, her trauma and generally her dark side it's so easy to have a Baby with Bath Water situation and discard her frustrations and goals due to it's complicated origins.
Like take the confrontation between Evatrice and Hideyoshi, he is trying to "reason her" by calling Eva back to what she truly is.... His wife and a mother. Ultimately Hideyoshi screaming at and slapping a child version of Eva seem that it's also how he sees her dedication to become head in stead of Krauss, a childish dream he had to put with until it became inconvenient. He doesn't try to compromise and appeal to Eva's actual qualities that makes her smart and hardworking without needing cruelty to succeed, the only magic she needs is the one that makes her cooks good. Eva if the good wife, the witch is everything else. The witch is the problem, she is the one who should be corrected or repressed.
Eva even has those internal conflicts herself, she manipulated herself into a life of settlement because she needed to be flexible. She can't be the Head? Sure she would give birth to one. Her father isn't happy because she is not learning to be a good wife? Okay she'll do just that and marry a man ready to take her name. If she wasn't able to adapt at all times the witch inside her wouldn't have survived, but since it's her very essence it would have probably killed her in some ways. However the witch makes no compromise, she doesn't forgive and she doesn't share, it's the frustrated part of Eva who can't be convinced she didn't spent her entire life settling instead of following her genuine goals which usually brings up socially unacceptable feelings (maybe a regret of being a mother despite loving George, or a resentment towards her husband she can't "justify"). It's just interesting that all her desires seem to come from a child throwing a fit.
Thats always something I have to think about and grapple with when I think about Eva's drastic change of behavior outside of Rokkenjima and with her family vs when she is with her siblings and on the island. Obviously when we see her most of the time she is triggered and in back into harmful patterns that makes her hurt and abuse others. We often say Eva's sweetness around her family is because she is safe with her husband and finally allowed to let herself be vulnerable. There's probably truth to this but how much of it is actually feeling safe and letter herself be loved, and how much of it is performing and repressing to be the perfect wife and mother. To again, show she can exactly be who she needs to be and be nothing but the best at it. The thing is, I do believe everything is deeply entangled. She is as much the raging ambitious woman in pain, and she does need to reach her goals, as she is loving wife, as she is the resenting middle age woman who hears the clock ticking and all those positions are valid, but they don't have the same consequences. Anyway all of that to say, the dichotomy of Eva presented is far more difficult to actually put in clean boxes of Good or Bad or True or False once we look at it a little bit deeper.
Now I thought about it again again because I saw people talking about her on reddit (as they do) and i will say... i do get a little bit of a ick when the idea starts to get into a "her true happiness would have been to be happy with her little family now she lost everything and became the head" territory even if I get the point it's just... Listen I just don't trust people to not be misogynistic about this theeere i said it. Ive been talking to myself too much havent I.
Reasons why Sakaguchi Ango is the funniest character is bsd:
1. Bro betrayed every single organization under the sun. You'll find at least one person who got betrayed by him on every street of Yokohama.
2. Managed to anger not one, but both of double black and it still alive. Insane.
3. "I can't do this work anymore. I'm going to quit." Continues to do the said work. Doesn't quit.
4. This panel
5. Probably mixes vodka with caffeine
6. I don't think he sleeps either
7. Knows Chuuya hates him. Is lowkey terrified of Chuuya. Also him when Chuuya is within sight: Beautiful. Stunning. Gorgeous. Show stopping. Powerful. Magnificent.
"going out to get milk" is a common turn of phrase used to describe a man abandoning his family.
the "milkman" is a common figure in stories depicting a woman's infidelity and adulterous affair.
this implies that the ability to provide milk would both decrease the likelihood of a man abandoning his wife and children, as it would eliminate the need for leaving to get milk AND would secure that man's marriage, as his wife would have no need to seek milk from an extraneous source.
therefore, all men should produce milk, through various means such as:
- being a cow
- being an almond
- being a woman
- being a coconut
- being in the omegaverse
- being an oat
(list is exemplary and not finite)
in this essay, i will redefine the nuclear family and explain the seductive and inflammatory nature of the 1993 "Got Milk?" commercials.
