the fact that Edwin lived in the early 1900s is a fantastic source of comedic potential. he's just constantly saying things that he doesn't realise are completely batshit insane, and the others are just left utterly floored.

like they're all talking and Crystal mentions she's tried cocaine once on a wild night out, and Edwin, who used to get that shit medically prescribed at the drop of a hat is like ??? okay?? hope you felt better, it always used to help me when I had a cold too :) charles why are you laughing?

As a massive cat person, I love how the Cat King is literally just the natural result of a cat taking human form. He's fickle. He's finicky. He changes his mind a lot. He's moody. He self sabotages almost immediately by putting the bracelet on Edwin when Edwin is clearly digging him, too. He correctly understands that he's cute and funny and will use it to get his way. He wants to terrorize the bird (Monty the Crow.) He's manipulative. He's dramatic. He has a weird but oddly consistent and charming sense of humor. He's a little problematic but in a fun, chill way. He likes one (1) person and all of the non-Edwins are just weird and unwanted. He hates trees. He's impulsive. I love him for being a cat.

I don’t think I ever posted this redraw here! The original got a loooot of traction for only being a doodle & I really wanted to refine it haha. I played around a ton with colors & effects, too :3 And, also, I was rewatching it a third time and… man! I love this scene.
