have you ever noticed you pick up little habits and phrases from the people you love? it’s no wonder our hearts are so easily broken when people leave. we become a reflection of the people that we care about and those personality traits stick with us even if the people don’t

I make my ramen the way a friend taught me in eleventh grade. Every fall, I listen to a playlist made for me by a boy I drove across a border to hook up with. I eat sushi because a girl who won’t talk to me anymore made me try it, and Indian food because my best friend’s parents ordered for me before I knew what I liked. There are movies I love because someone I loved loved them first. I am a mosaic of everyone I’ve ever loved, even for a heartbeat.

I always close the toothpaste cap because a girl I loved always got mad at me when I didn’t. I pull the pants legs right-side-out before I hang them up to dry because my ex preferred it that way. I have a weirdly aggressive respect for classical music players and how much they have to practice because of a girl I liked at a summer camp. I’m attracted to women in chukka boots because of a Florida fling. I will always have a soft spot for One Direction because a girl I dated was obsessed. There’s a particular door opening sound effect used in a brand of cars that reminds me of a sound design project I did centering around a crush of mine. Yellow flowers are forbidden in my life due to a reminder of my first girlfriend in college. I will never ghost someone in any way shape or form due to the way my high school girlfriend ended our relationship with no explanation. To this day I hesitate to take the foil lid off of bulk yogurt cartons because there was someone who preferred it to always stay on.

Feminism has never been about being “equal” to men.

If we were equal to men we would be abusing and raping and sexually assaulting at the same rate men do and get away with it or have similar sentences (which most are under 5 years)

If we were equal we’d be just as bad as men and I do not wish that for any woman. We see how the patriarchy has turned against men, an equal rights movement that treats women the same as men is only doing more harm than good.

And an MRA or libfem will ask “then what IS feminism?” And it’s liberation. Breaking free from the things men have done to us. I’m not the only one whose made this type of post. Radfems repeat ourselves all the time.

Female liberation treats women as human being. To where there’s no limits or systemic sexism that tells women how to dress, act, etc. Where lesbians are allowed to call themselves lesbians without someone trying to shove the idea that we need to be open to men.

Feminism has ALWAYS been that way. And tbh if you’re not a radfem (or radleaning/ally) and you’ve read this a million times. Then we’ll never see eye to eye. I refuse to engage with someone who hears that women don’t want to be abused by a system men have created against her and instead tell her to be JUST. LIKE. HIM.

make peace with the fact that not everyone is meant to be in your life forever. some people are only temporary, and that’s okay. feel the pain of loss, grow from the experiences they gave, and then cherish the memories made. don’t worry; you will find your forever people.
