dear minors,

you are not an adult.

you are not capable of consenting to a romantic or sexual relationship with an adult. your brain isn’t fully developed and so these romantic or sexual relationships will shape how you perceive relationships long into when you are an adult.

you can be a minor and be smart. you can be a minor and be wise beyond your years. you can be a minor and know more about how the world works more than any adult or child around you!

but when your brain develops fully, ( the average adult brain develops completely at 25! ) your thoughts and beliefs aren’t heavily influenced by an adult who intends on bringing you psychological, sexual, physical, and emotional harm.

as a survivor of child sexual abuse, i still struggle with the ideas my abuser planted in my brain. they still have long term effects on me, because my brain wasn’t finished developing. it still isn’t finished.

the adult who wishes to pursue a child has such a significant influence on how you grow up and perceive the world. if the adult who wishes to pursue a child actually cared about you, they would understand the psychological and emotional power they have over you. they would not pursue you if they truly loved you and wanted the best for you.

to every minor who is interested in an adult, every minor who feels trapped in a relationship with an adult, and any survivor of these relationships,

it is never your fault. it is always the fault of the adult who pursues a child; they are in the wrong; they are pedophiles.
