I can't help but find myself quite terrified of how the world has developed, sometimes.

There are so many things shifting in front of our faces, sometimes fractions of seconds apart from each other, yet somehow it seems like there is nothing new. The soul of authenticity seems to have withered away as our collective consciousness harmonizes with an algorithm designed to keep us "uniformly unique." I can swear that I haven't seen a different makeup look since before the pandemic, but if I catch one more stare because of how different I look I might volunteer to shed my originality along with the masses. I fear that learning for the sake of loving intellectualism has died,--or, at the very least, has been staunched out by the overbearing weight of survival and the primitive desire to cope that comes with it. I only find myself motivated to create in bursts, when my eyes remind me that I am on the outside of the screen, not encased behind it. But it's hard to step away from a digital community where the dopamine from a like is more easily received to your brain than a blank stare from a community that does not seem to see you.

This! It can be so hard for people to get it. I’ve been told “you can’t have a disability” because I did well in school or because I have a law degree, because I scored high on the LSAT (which was despite not being able to finish it). Learning disabilities don’t = stupid, it’s just slower and more difficult to read/spell.
