Prepping for EOGs doesn’t have to look like sitting at a desk and reading from old prompts... small groups with chapter books, group discussions, and textual evidence can all help build the same skills. Third Graders are reading and getting ready!

Better Together!
Sometimes, students end up taking breaks at the same time...and will work together to complete tasks. These two students decided to start working together consistently to complete puzzles and a friendship was formed!
READING BUDDIES!!
First Graders got a special visit from our Fourth and Fifth Graders. They talked about setting, characters, and plot...and had a blast reading together!
CENTERS! Ms. Malin’s class works in their centers -- Vocabulary, sentences, reading...you name it, we do it!
As they say...“Use whatcha got”. Leo became the subject of Ms Carter’s students’ sentences. And he LOVED the attention.
Huge thanks to Crafted Outpost for hosting us and our fundraiser!! We had a HUGE BLAST doing art projects and raising awareness about our little school.
Ms. Welsh’s class studied BATIK!! A little wax. A little dye...and BAM. Beautiful artwork that will now live on our wall 💜💛 (ps, we need to petition apple to create a seahorse...what do y’all think?!)
What does “free choice” look like first thing in the morning?
Genuine WSA Moment:
This area is our “library/cozy area” where students can take breaks. This fifth grader was spotted reading with this first grader.
When we’re asked what makes WSA different...it’s our 🅲🅾🅼🅼🆄🅽🅸🆃🆈. These kids know each other...they see each other. And they’re growing 🅃🄾🄶🄴🅃🄷🄴🅁.
Journaling doesn't have to feel like a task...Set a goal. Work for it. ✅
“𝐈 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬”
Digraphs can be tricky...but when your friends are CHeering you on, it doesn’t seem so impossible. 💜
And sometimes...you just want to ⓇⒺⒶⒹ
And on Saint Patrick’s Day...we eat a bunch of 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦!!
(and then obviously have to do a mindful reset because it ain’t easy being green)
When you just want someone to read to...Leo is always there to lend an open ear.

Third Grade enjoyed their field trip to the Aquarium...and REALLY enjoyed their SURPRISE when Mr. Guyton jumped into the big tank to dive with the fishes. It’s not every day your teacher is on the OTHER side of the glass!
"𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝑪𝒍𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒂"...
Fifth Graders perform their Wax Museum presentations as a part of Women’s History Month. Elliot was 💯 in character the entire time -- taking project-based-learning to the next level!

Ms. Morrill’s students used their units of measurement to create paper replicas of all the existing kinds of sea turtles and then hung their research projects in the hallway!! (plus their anti-pollution posters) Way to go first grade!!
