"Can you impersonate a specter of a Tachonis? What do you feel of that kind of trickery?" / "Hmm." / "I would love for the Arcane Marshals working under me to leave the Palazzo Davinos thinking that they saw something terrifying that suggested something very terrible happened there." / [...] / "There's nothing I can do to a crowd, but I can do quite a bit if you give me access to an individual, yes, I can do some truly terrible things." / "Okay, I will split us up into pairs and I will take the person that goes with me towards the west wing of the Davinos estate." / "What? What's the plan?" / "We need to convince them- that they saw something, an echo of what happened there. A specter that tells them that House Tachonis obliterated Royce and Davinos. That conversation needs to begin out in the world in private, in public, rumors. I need someone that's not me to return to the Brethren Hall claiming that they have evidence or saw a vision that Tachonis did terrible things there." / "That will not be hard. I will just need access to somebody with-- I'll need access to somebody with inscrutable credentials. Someone who would never lie." / "Okay." / "Somebody with power. But in the meantime, I have forgery to work on--" / "Great." / "-- and it's going poorly. It occurs to me that a significant chunk of this collection, or at least a small portion of it, could, in theory, belong to the Lloy family. So with just a couple pieces of paperwork, instead of maintaining the collection, a bunch of it would go back to them." / "Well, now you're going on to topics that are a little bit above my head, over my head, so-" / "All right, I've got some Minor Illusion. I can try and I can roll with you and be invisible and try and figure some shit out. If you want to be spooky about it."
Just two Things talking about how Azune wants Bolaire to psychologically torture a guy into thinking he saw evidence of a massacre, and Murray going 'Huh? I guess we do triangles now' and offering up her magic
on the topic of disabled characters, though, i think a LOT of artists give characters mobility aids that their character wouldn't actually benefit from using.
i'm sort of having a mild brain fog moment rn so i can't fully articulate what i'm on about, but i think a lot of able-bodied artists view things like canes and crutches as interchangeable. and they often don't know enough about the wide range of mobility aids to make an informed decision about what their character might actually use based on their disability
i also think that aids like walkers and rollators are sort of viewed as "cringe" on some level, and many people view them to be "just for old people," so many artists will opt for giving a character who has full-body pain and fatigue a cane (which, in many cases, can potentially WORSEN full-body pain) instead. and a lot of people don't realize that most wheelchair users are able to walk, so they don't consider it an option for characters with chronic pain
idk it's kind of frustrating. i've genuinely never, ever seen a character that uses a rollator before. not once. i cannot name a single one. i know of multiple ocs who are described to have full-body pain, dizziness, and fatigue that are drawn as cane users and are never shown with wheelchairs or walkers, though
it's also sort of sad? i've been diagnosed since i was twelve years old, and i only heard of rollators LAST YEAR. and that was only because i saw one irl and immediately asked what it was. i wonder how many disabled people out there don't even know it's an option solely because they're completely underrepresented online and in media
if you're a creative with a disabled oc, PLEASEEE check out this link. it's a very nice and detailed guide for telling which mobility aids suit someone's needs best. it's incredibly important to make the right choice for your character! mobility aids tell you a LOT about someone's lived experience. picking the right one will communicate to your audience #1 what your character goes through #2 that you UNDERSTAND what your character goes through!
my mom taught me the therapeutic power of cleaning. open all the windows. throw out the old. wipe down the entire house. burn some incense. roast some coffee. then rest. that way the tears from last night don’t feel as heavy.
She just wanted you to clean the house
No it’s actually been studied and proven that for people with anxiety and depression that it’s really good for us it gives us a sense of control, setting, and being well grounded. It allows to make a new place out of the old and is really relaxing
It is such a catch-22, that cleaning when you are depressed (and likely less able to gather the executive functioning to do so) also alleviates it. After having a good clean, I always feel more in control and less stressed. It’s the getting started that is the hardest part. The good news is, even a tiny bit of cleaning has a positive effect, so start with what you can manage.
Even if you just clean up the immediate area around you, even if you clean a little at a time or spaced out over days, you’ll feel lighter.
This!!
Even if all you can do is put three dishes in the dishwasher, or move the dirty laundry pile to outside the laundry door, or throw out that box of leftovers that have been sitting in the fridge for 2 weeks
it counts.
My therapy professor always gets his patients to just wipe the bathroom mirror when they’re feeling that way. Just the mirror, nothing more. But then by the time his patients are done with the mirror, most of them report “well, I was already in the bathroom, so I did the sink and tub too.” And before they know it, they’ve cleaned an entire bathroom.
My therapist once told me that, every day, I should try and do at least one thing that I either enjoyed, or gave me a sense of mastery. And honestly, the enjoyment thing can kind of seem overrated, especially when you feel like crap, but the mastery thing? Doing laundry or taking out the trash or whatever else I can bring myself to accomplish?
Holy shit, man… it’s /good/
This stuff saved my ass back when I had depression. Vacuuming the room, spraying some febreze shit and wiping some countertops works wonders.
tiny baby steps are helpful
do what you can, forgive yourself for what you can’t, and challenge yourself to do better tomorrow (and it’s okay to fail at this; just try again the next tomorrow)
Sorry I started sobbing uncontrollably when you expressed the slightest concern for my lack of human connection, and casually mentioned you think I deserve better than a life of isolation and loneliness. Super weird. Not sure what was up with that lol. You still think I’m cool and mysterious and sexy, right?
@disclaimer-performatico second pro tip: if you just relax your face and widen your eyes as you do when you’re surprised/ scared the tears don’t come out at all either :3
Personal favorite because people seem to not notice this one at all
"trump dying won't fix fascism" neither would a big steamy bowl of pad thai but I still want it
I’ve been looking at some Minecraft build videos now and tbh I’m kind of glad I never got into the culture around it. It seems like a lot of people have these very specific standards for what they think makes a Minecraft build good to the point where it seems slightly suffocating tbh
Also sometimes “texturing” makes the build look worse. I’m sorry, but it does.
This is an art piece by Rick Gibson, and yes, it works.
It was placed in different nightclubs for a total of three days, and over 1,200 people decided to pay to use it
In a local production of hadestown that i saw, when it came time for orpheus to sing epic III, the fates didnt give him his guitar back. You see, up on the platform by hades' office door, a shiny black guitar has been mounted on the wall throughout the whole play. It is this guitar that orpheus is given to play epic III on: hades' guitar. He once sang a song of love like orpheus, you know.
"Hey, thank you! This gentleman right here is a real patron of the arts! Sir, and I see that you wear a fine mask yourself. I have something of an interest in facades and appearances. And may I say, yours, quite dashing." / "Oh, thank you, young sir." / "What's your name, kind sir?" / "Bolaire. It's a pleasure. What is your name?" / "Demodus Blix."
Imagine how few people had this be their first impression of Bolaire. Like, so many people think he's the creepy mask guy, but Demodus's first ever words to him are to call the mask dashing.
"Hey, I-- This is quite a sum. Are you-- I don't mean to-- This is a lot of money." / "Yes, well, that's a lot of talent."
They could literally never make me hate Bolaire. Literal (Warlock) Patron of The Arts.
