Directv is the reason I have trust issues...

Plan charge (the actual price they show you when you’re picking which channel package you want): $63.75/month So you’re like, “Oh hey, not bad!” ... :) Then, your bill shows up and it’s almost $120. WHY? Here are the charges they don’t tell you about: -Protection Plan: $8.65/month (which they basically make you get) -Service for an HD tv (not HD channels, just having an HD tv): $10.63/month -Box for your primary tv: $7.04/month -Box for other two tvs in your home: $14.08/month -DVR service: $10.83/month I live in the sticks so my only other option for cable was Dish, but shockingly, they couldn’t get a strong enough signal on the receiver no matter where they tried to put it because: trees. So, I am now one of those super intelligent sounding people who is all like, “I don’t even have cable at my house. There are so many other things I spend my time on.” .... Like Netflix and Hulu.

I sent an email with some attachments to a business contact yesterday (from my work email to his) that was strictly about getting a bid from his company to mine. I’ve never met him or talked to him on the phone, and he knows nothing about me. I also don’t (by any stretch of the imagination) work for a company or industry known for any sort of religious ties. The first thing I see this morning when I open my email is a response from him that says, “Thanks (insert my misspelled name here, even though it’s clearly spelled correctly in my email signature RIGHT below his response AND on the documents in the attachments). Have a wonderful, loving day and trust God for all things.” Because I can’t send a bitchy response, I’m getting it out here. 1. If you can’t spell a name correctly while actually fucking looking right at it, you don’t need to have email access in a grown-up setting. 2. Who uses the word “loving” in an appropriate business email? Answer: NO ONE. 3. At what point in time did it become okay at all to give a stranger a sermon or talk to them about religion or God or any belief system at all via a work email? I already have to deal with people having stupid quotes on their email signatures. And now it just got worse… I don’t get to send emails out from my work email address that say anything about praising Thor, or doing rain dances, or worshiping unicorns, or thinking elves are real and poop rainbows. And if I did, I would expect to be fired... Or at LEAST for someone to tell me it was unacceptable and had to be stopped immediately. Someone sending me an email that says “trust God for all things” is just as ridiculous in my book.So. Annoying. #biblebeltproblems

Fox News’ Hasselbeck calls air conditioning ‘the ugly side’ of welfare | The Raw Story

Fox News host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Thursday suggested that welfare recipients who had air conditioning and cell phones were part of the “ugly side of entitlements.”

During Thursday’sFox & Friends, Hasselbeck plugged a report that libertarian Fox Business host John Stossel is running this week that he claims will show how welfare creates a culture of dependency.

“Do these folks really need to be on welfare,” she asked, followed by video of Stossel interview apparent welfare recipients on the street.

“Yeah, I have a TV,” one woman says.

“Yeah, I have a television,” a man tells Stossel.

“Do you have air conditioning,” Stossel presses. “Yes,” the man replies.

“John Stossel checking into that and exposing the ugly side of entitlements,” Hasselbeck remarked following the video clip.

In a second teaser, Stossel probed welfare recipients about having cell phones and the Fox News host again called it “the ugly side of entitlements.”

“Is welfare creating more victims than it’s actually helping?” she later wondered.

Stossel pointed out that he was getting “free stuff” like Medicare, but welfare encouraged people “not to look for work.”

“The motivation to go get a job is almost non-existent in 35 states,” Hasselbeck opined.

Yes, luxuries like those ice boxes and radios are evidence that people on welfare are indigent monsters scamming the system. Or, in a rational universe, owning televisions and cell phones are normal household accoutrements that a person or household could have acquired under  a range of circumstances that do not pertain to their current financial status. You’ll note that none of these “hard hitting reporters” asked when they purchased their televisions or cell phones, how much they cost, how long they were on welfare (or even if they were on welfare) or how they were acquired. Merely owning them is the evidence of a  ”smoking gun” that indicates the system being broken and these “ugly” “lazy” Americans are living too high on the hog. 

80 percent of Americans have struggled or are struggling  with Unemployment or been on some manner of public assistance according to a recent survey. People like Hasselbeck think those people just don’t look poor enough.
