I don’t see it the way others do. I don’t believe in the butterflies in the stomach and the “they’re perfect and can’t do anything wrong” philosophy. Call me insane, but I think I know what it’s like to be in love. It’s the peaceful and calming atmosphere when she’s around. It’s the feeling of ease when she’s holding my hand and that smile that just makes me smile back. It’s the way I acknowledge her flaws but see them as lessons learned and building blocks that make her who she is. It’s tearing up when I think of my life without her. It’s knowing that she can handle me on my darkest days and my most out of touch moments. It’s waking up everyday understanding that, though she may not be perfect, she’s the closest that will ever come to it. It’s her saying “I love you.” after a serious matter has been talked about and the tears are right there, ready to fall. The way she acknowledges the pain and the hurt but talks so calmly just so she makes sure I’m alright. It’s knowing that distance means nothing when we believe and trust in each other the way we do. It’s loving each other through days we couldn’t love ourselves. It’s knowing that the love between us never faltered even when we did… I think that’s what love really is..
