The funeral yesterday was tough but there were a lot of great memories shared and a lot of love going around ❤️ Today, we get a knock on the door - and it's 2 Oxfam reps and she starts off with 'I'm sure you're aware that over 10,000 children have died ...' AND I START BAWLING. Omg. Poor girl! I know she has no idea what individual people are going through, totally not her fault in anyway. I'm just not ready to hear about .. That stuff. I quickly explained to her, in between sobs, that I was at a child's funeral yesterday, that I really can't talk right now and to have a nice day. Guess she won't forget me. 😳

This is basically my moto. Sure, life can be dark. Sure, there is bad in the world. But there is also so much good and joy and love, and one doesn’t have to be naive or have an easy life to see that. To truly face a dark world is to create happiness and kindness and sunshine for others and yourself, and to embrace the loveliness of this universe.

I'm going to a funeral today -- and I tell you this because it's a prime example of how to fight through anxiety. Let love guide you through it. Let it override any feelings of sadness and worry. Know that you are loved and share the love. I am going to lose it, I'm going to cry and feel like I can't handle it, but I'm going to be present. I am going to show up. Because this love and this boy's life is worth more than any momentary uncomfortableness. Xx
I graduated last week and I am now a registered Lifestyle, Food and Wellness Coach ⭐️☀️❤️ I also finished a Certificate in Mindfulness and will continue studying (looking at counseling next I think) It wasn't easy BUT I DID IT! You can do cool things too - you just need to start somewhere and give it a go. Will it be perfect? Will you just glide through it? Probably not. But that's life, that's living! Don't leave behind a trail of regrets ✌🏼️

Recently I’ve been struggling dissociation and my friend suggested this:
focus upon a place in your head that you are familiar with. Focus upon walking through that place, what sounds that you hear, what you breathe. Feel that place. I find that doing something like that is helpful because it’s a place you’re not currently in, so you have to use your senses to do that, which helps when you’re dissociated.
It might not help everyone but it might help someone, so I thought I’d put it out there!
It sounds like it's a form of Mindfulness 😊 where you focus on your 5 senses within your environment - but this time you're concentrating on a different but familiar and comforting space instead. It's like grounding for your mind so that your body can follow

Whether you're sad, angry, tired, worried or scared -- acknowledge how you FEEL without adding a story to it. 'I feel sad'. 'I am scared'. 'I am angry'. Don't add 'because....' - just sit with your emotion, feel where it lives in your body. And breathe it away. Let it dissolve into a billion tiny atoms, then a million, then a thousand.. Until it is so small that it doesn't bother you anymore. Oh it's still there, as it should be - we are HUMAN, but you can control the power behind it and how you react to it. ☀️✌🏼️
A personal post on my practice with mindfulness.... My 7yo daughter has a rare genetic disorder called #rettsyndrome and suffers from epilepsy as a result. Tonight she's had so many seizures in a short timeframe that we've had to give her the rescue meds to stop it. The seizures have stopped but we're so worried that she's going to sleep in our bed tonight - first time we've ever done that. (Last time it was like this we called 000 straight away but we're a bit more experienced now). Anymore seizures after so many meds, we'll call an ambulance. So imagine how stressed out I am, to the point I was bringing on a migraine and felt sick to my stomach. BUT I wanted to write out some mindfulness notes and I feel like they've really helped calm me down, enough so that I'm relaxed enough to sleep now without taking a painkiller (I don't think there's need now!). This is a pic of my last page of mindfulness notes -- Process the Emotion, Not the thoughts. Don't create drama - don't write a story about your suffering. Acknowledge how you feel, sit with it and let it dissolve away. Remember this next time stress bubbles up. We cannot change the past or future but we can be present in what's happening right now. Right now, I'm going to sleep. Goodnight ☀️✌🏼️❤️
