Ive said this before but theres something that feels so inherently queer about monsterfucker esc ships even when they are in actuality straight

Since its pride month id like help understanding why I think this is and this time I have actual specific examples

1. Norm breaking:

Maybe queer relationships and monster x human relationships feel similar is because they both break the heteronormative mold of relationships a lot of people subconsciously have? Like how a relationship between an extremely feminine man and an extremely masculine woman is still a straight relationship, might still feel queer leaning to some people despite that.

2. Anatomical difference

The monster fucker spectrum™ includes anything from Human with longer ears to Beings so illogical that our mortal eyes can not comprehend it. There are plenty of monsters out there that don't adhere to what humans perceive as masculine and feminine. Even existing animals don't adhere to those standards, so why should Cthulhu?

Simply out, monsters aren't human so they aren't always going to fit into a mold created by humans for humans. I would fuck a dragon and 1. I can't tell the difference between a male and female dragon. And 2. Considering that most dragons are a type of lizard, I can't even be sure that there is a difference. I would also fuck an eldritch being. You know what it would do if I asked it about it's gender? It would take over my mind and telepathically show me how it's above human comprehension and therefore laugh at the mere thought of humans daring to try to define it with such a thing as "gender" and "biological sex".

Actual Fact: There are more Redacted Audio episodes featuring werewolf characters playing Destiny 2 than there are episodes featuring them actually shifting into wolves. This is not an exaggeration. Imagine making all this lore and history supernatural characters just to have this random real-world videogame from 2017 have a bigger presence in a werewolf story than actual werewolf transformations.

I will never understand how people believe that Redacted is a good writer, ts is so bad.

Ok I’m reposting this again just to say that if you’re THIS unhappy with a small piece of media then just.. don’t watch it???

Like I’d understand if you were criticising a hugely produced Netflix show for being lazily written but we all already know Redacted is just one guy having fun. if bro wants to make a video about a game he likes then he will lmao. This is a random ass man with a day job and a life, there are times where he’s not going to put his heart and soul into writing. That’s normal. Ofc there are a couple reasons someone might be annoyed (eg. Paying for patreon and unhappy with the content quality, but you’re clearly watching this on YouTube so that’s not you) and they are valid reasons to be unsatisfied BUT if you’re going to stick around, presumably watching his content for free, just to complain then do us all a favour and keep it to yourself.

Also I personally think that the recurring mention and gameplay through the Shaw Pack brings them more to life. Why would I watch something and get attached to the characters when they have no interests or hobbies whatsoever???

Also lastly just keep in mind that this is canonically set in the modern day giving the characters little reason to shift and, even if they had a reason, covert being mentioned repeatedly makes it very obvious why they wouldn’t want to anyway.

Idk if this is a whole lot of annoying yap but still brah there’s no reason to be a pessimist about something that is literally designed for some silly fun.

I mean I think this is the audio that made me give up on watching Redacted Audio, despite all the hype people gave me for it.

I don't get why so many people are telling me "if you don't like it then don't watch it" when I had to watch it to realize I didn't like it first. You get that right? Opinions on art ARE subjective, and that means that my criticism is just as valid as your praise. There's nothing wrong with watching something, not liking it, and then sharing your opinion on it. The people saying "don't like it, don't watch it" seem to think that people have some psychic ability to tell what they're going to like before they even watch it omg.

You can not claim that this was "just an opinion" and like you're a poor victim of a vicious fandom when you actively went out of your way to spread false information to support your narrative (as @grilledcheezy92 pointed out in the reblog you didn't respond to) and then insult people.

The Twilight vampires are canonically made of something akin to marble. They're extremely heavy, their bodies have no give (unless another vampire bites them) and they make clinking sounds when they toch each other. This is Meyers weird way of making them indestructible. I have a better way.

Make them Non-newtonian. Non-newtonian substances can change viscosity/firmness depending of the amount of force applied to them. Therefore, Edward being able to move without problem but also stop a 2000 kg car coming towards him makes sense, his hand hardened in response to the force of the incoming truck.

I don't think it's a perfect solution but I think it's a bit better than making them living marble statues.

Okay, so the mlp au is just living in my brain now and I have basically nobody to talk to about it, so I hope it doesnt offend u that I'm dropping this in here.

I was brainstorming RM, bcs I know I don't want him to be natural-born alicorn, and I came up with this:

RM is a magic prodigy. Insane magic levels. Blew people away, got into a respectable magic school, absolutely drove his parents up the wall as a kid. He has a deep scholarly understanding of how magic works.

So his cutie mark must be magic, right? Nope. It doesn’t come. He's the oldest blank flank in the school.

But, at the age he should get a cutiemark, his magic starts going haywire. It had always been hard to control bc there was so much of it but it gets progressivley worse. Spells dont cooperate. He goes to a specialist for advice. He starts hating magic.

At the end of the year he's doing a magical assessment, with royalty present, heck, maybe baby JK was there, idk, and a spell backfires. The magic completely misbehaves and shatters his horn. To contain it the royalty present has to give him wings or he would like bleed out magic and die or like blow up the school, idk the intricacies of magic.

RM gets expelled now that his horn has offed itself. His wings behave about as well as his magic, and his balance has always been to pot, so flying doesn't come naturally. He fails spectacularly at it a few times and has an argument with his parents when he finally thinks to try rap, which he's been fascinated with for years.

RM is good at poetry, and he's brilliant with rap. He auditions for BigHit and gets in. Still no cutie mark. Its not until he works with Yoongi, pours his soul into writing out lyrics, learns to dance, and starts teaching J-Hope to rap that his cutiemark flares into existence: a book with a compass rose, a microphone and a quill crossed on the cover.

Thoughts?

I can't make up my mind between the quill, the book/scroll, the mic, and the compass. The scroll and quill you used looks awesome but then the compass idea came out of left field for me and now I can't decide.

Mostly, I just wanted to tell you my silly ideas from brainstorming for the au... 😅

Please talk to me about it! RM's backstory is so INTERESTING!!! Making him someone who chased the wrong destiny for so long before his magic went haywire is so good. I wonder if that's the reason his magic started acting up? Like his magic core or something realized he was on the wrong path (since I think cutie marks are fate thing) so it tried to make him pivot. But as we know RM doesn't let hardship or other people's opinions stop him so he pushes on until this almost spiritual/psychological battle spirals out of control.

Also I get the cutie mark uncertainty 😅 It took me a few hours to decide each one since cutie marks can be either very to the point or extremely abstract. Most ended up very clearly music related except for Jungkook. I gave him a golden Tiger lily, (don't know if that translates though) because his Tiger lily tattoo and because it symbolizes things like wealth, prosperity and strength in a few cultures.

Finally getting around to reading The Lord of The Rings and I am loving it! One of my favorite things in fantasy stories is world building and Tolkien is soooo good at slowly building out the world.

Also Phil Dragash is great! I'm listening to his version of the audiobook to help keep focus and I just love the voice acting and sound mixing!

the way i phrased this post doesn’t have a lot of nuance bc i was expressing my general frustration in how i often see the complexity of the choice alexis made with sam getting glossed over in favor of making both her and sam a lot more one dimensional. i would like to clarify that when i say sam reduced her to being a sexual object i’m not referring to the casual nature of their relationship, but the way sam speaks about her in the audios.

sam’s anger is justified, and i think this can be true without assuming alexis’s motivations and while recognizing how difficult it is to leave someone who is actively dying in that state when you have the ability to intervene, even if they have explicitly asked you not to. i think they’re both fascinating and deeply flawed characters and i enjoy them both a lot. always happy to see more alexis fans, and i’m not at all saying you need to agree with my take! this is just my perspective :)

another sentiment that i’ve seen expressed in this fandom over the years is that alexis is a bad person, and that there is no other canon compliant conclusion to draw from her actions. i’m not making any statement about alexis’s overall morality, but i do think it would be completely realistic within this universe for a good person to make the choice she did. yes, sam’s turning was nonconsensual. alexis was also in an extremely urgent situation with no time to stop and think, and because of her actions, sam lived to see another day. i’m not saying she did the RIGHT thing, i’m saying what she did was understandable without having to present her as an evil caricature. again, how you interpret alexis is your business, and i totally see the appeal of viewing her as more villainous (villains are fun!), this is just my own perspective of the character

I would get this perspective if we hadn't met her.

We, the listener, have met her. Years after Sam's turning. In The Monarchal Summit Audio (18:06-21:13) She approaches Darlin and belittles them (unprovoked) and then says, "So when are you joining the family then? Or do you plan to whither away into old age until he can't stand the sight of you anymore? But feels to guilty to leave?" Darlin asks her if she knows that's they've fought vampires and won. Alexis says yes before calling them a child and telling them to grow up. Then she moves on to the subject of Sam's turning (again unprompted) and she says, word for word," I turned him because I wanted him. He was dying, and I didn't want him to. So I fixed him. If I could do it all over, I'd still make the same choice. So if you're fishing for regret? Try someone else."

Alexis is a complicated and fascinating character, but she's definitely not a good person. In fact, I'd argue trying to make her out to be a good person is a disservice to her character. She's petty and refuses to apologize for her actions. She's to cowardly to confront Sam himself but will waltz up to his partner with the intentions of provoking them without reason.

She is, without a doubt, in the wrong. Not necessarily because she turned him without his consent, but because she refuses to apologize and sees herself as the one wronged instead.
