And I gave up a lot trying to feel like I’d done enough. Honestly, most days I still don’t feel like I’ve done enough, either to help or to atone for the horrible shit I’ve done, but if it helps you any, try to focus on the people you saved, the ones that get to go on and live their lives because you risked yours. Cause the thing is, you’ll never live up to the expectations the public and the media put on you, you just can’t, and trying to do that will just shred you.” She gives him a gentle bump with her shoulder before adding with a small grin “But if it’ll make you feel better I’m always happy to set JJJ’s car on fire.” It’s only mostly a joke.

Well...he could always trust Mara to tell him the truth instead of sugar coating it to cushion it. Because she was right...failure was always a possibility. It was something he needed to accept. “...just trying to fit my idea of good enough.” But maybe he’d set the bar to high for himself. He wasn’t Tony Stark...he never would be. Even Tony didn’t live up to Tony and he knew that. He gave a slight smile, “...that’s what Aunt May would say.” After worrying over him risking his life or what ever injuries he’d manage to gain. He glanced to her and gave a laugh, “oohh, he’d find a way to make that my fault too.” But there was humor in his tone. “Thanks though.”

Peter glanced to her, the corner of his lip twitched up but that was about it. “...it’s easy to get lost in.” He admitted. There were so many heroes around him-so much to try and live up to. He could do his part-he could save people. “...I need you too.” He said, reaching for her hand. “I don’t know where I’d be without you.”
