For me, the film works because it doesn’t feel like a history lesson. It tells Partition through personal memories, relationships and the idea of what “home” really means.

My Honest Main Vaapas Aaunga Review

I went into the film expecting a slow period drama, but what stayed with me was its emotional weight. Naseeruddin Shah is particularly impressive, bringing a quiet sadness to his character without overplaying the emotion.

Diljit Dosanjh is equally restrained, while Sharvari and Vedang Raina bring an emotional innocence to the 1947 storyline.

The music also adds considerably to the atmosphere, especially during the more emotional portions of the film.

I’d personally give Main Vaapas Aaunga around 4 out of 5. The middle portion feels slightly stretched, but the emotional payoff in the final act makes up for it.

Why the OTT Release Is Worth Watching

The film’s 50-plus-day theatrical journey is interesting in itself. In a market where many movies disappear from cinemas within a couple of weeks, Main Vaapas Aaunga managed to stay around much longer.

I think word-of-mouth played an important role. It may not have been the loudest release initially, but viewers who connected with the story continued talking about it.

Now Netflix gives the film an opportunity to reach people who couldn’t watch it in theatres.

Should You Watch Main Vaapas Aaunga?

If you enjoy emotional romances, period dramas and character-driven storytelling, I’d definitely recommend giving it a chance.

Just don’t expect a fast-paced commercial entertainer. This is a more reflective film that takes its time with relationships, memories and loss.

For me, Main Vaapas Aaunga is one of the more heartfelt Hindi films of 2026, and its Netflix release gives it a second opportunity to find an even wider audience.

With a strong technical team and a large-scale visual presentation, this is the kind of film I would personally recommend watching on the big screen rather than waiting for OTT.

Bandar: May 29

If you enjoy gritty crime dramas, Bandar is one of my biggest theatrical picks. Directed by Anurag Kashyap and starring Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra, and Raj B Shetty, the film promises the morally complicated storytelling Kashyap is known for.

For me, the combination of Kashyap and Bobby Deol alone makes this worth keeping on the weekend watchlist.

Backrooms: May 29

The internet’s famous Backrooms phenomenon finally gets a theatrical treatment. This sci-fi horror film follows people trapped inside an endless maze of unsettling, identical spaces.

If you enjoy atmospheric horror rather than predictable jump scares, this could be the week’s most interesting horror release.

Tuner, Return of the Jungle, Phera & Blast

The Friday lineup gets even bigger with Tuner, a crime thriller starring Dustin Hoffman and Leo Woodall; Return of the Jungle, a family-oriented adventure; Bengali drama Phera; and Tamil-Telugu action entertainer Blast.

There is genuinely something for almost every kind of moviegoer.

Spider-Noir: May 27

For me, Spider-Noir is easily the biggest OTT release of the week. Starring Nicolas Cage, the eight-episode series takes Spider-Man mythology into a gritty 1930s noir setting.

What makes it even more interesting is that viewers can choose between black-and-white and colour versions, creating two different visual experiences.

JetLee: May 25

JioHotstar’s JetLee brings a Telugu action-comedy premise involving a fugitive billionaire and a secret agent aboard a commercial flight. It looks like an easy, entertaining Monday-night watch.

Cousins and Kalyanams & Brothers and Sisters

JioHotstar also has two regional family-focused releases: Malayalam comedy-drama Cousins and Kalyanams and Tamil slice-of-life series Brothers and Sisters.

My Picks This Week

If I had to narrow everything down, my top three would be Spider-Noir for OTT, Bandar for serious cinema, and Kattalan for a big-screen action experience.

What I like most about this week is the sheer variety. From Malayalam and Tamil stories to Hollywood horror and superhero noir, May 25–31 has something for almost every mood.

So, if your watchlist has been looking empty, this is definitely the week to fill it.

My Main Vaapas Aaunga Movie Review

I’ll be honest — I expected Main Vaapas Aaunga to be a very slow, artsy period drama. Instead, I found myself much more emotionally invested than I expected, especially during the final act.

Naseeruddin Shah is the emotional backbone of the film. His portrayal of an elderly man holding onto memories while slowly losing them is incredibly moving.

Diljit Dosanjh also works well in a restrained role. He doesn’t overplay the emotions, and many of his quieter moments actually say more than a long dialogue could.

Sharvari and Vedang Raina bring a youthful vulnerability to the 1947 storyline, while A.R. Rahman’s music adds another emotional layer to the film.

If I had to rate it, I’d give Main Vaapas Aaunga 4 out of 5. The middle portion feels slightly stretched, but the emotional payoff makes up for it.

Should You Watch Main Vaapas Aaunga on Netflix?

For me, yes — especially if you enjoy slow-burn romances, emotional storytelling and strong performances.

Don’t expect a fast-paced commercial entertainer. This is a film that takes its time and asks you to connect with its characters.

Batwara 1947 poster sparks confusion was honestly my first reaction when I saw the new character poster. I actually thought, “Wait, is that Kiara Advani?” before looking at it properly.

And I clearly wasn’t the only one.

I’m Khushi, and I follow Bollywood poster and trailer drops closely, so I immediately wanted to know who the actress in the picture actually was. The answer is Kanikka Kapur, not Kiara Advani.

Why Did the Batwara 1947 Poster Confuse Fans?

The resemblance is particularly noticeable in this specific poster. The hairstyle, makeup, lighting and facial expression make Kanikka Kapur look remarkably similar to Kiara Advani at first glance.

Once the poster started circulating online, social media users began asking the same question: “Is that Kiara Advani?”

It’s easy to understand the confusion because Kiara is already such a familiar Bollywood face, while Kanikka Kapur is still relatively new to many viewers. When you see an unfamiliar actress who resembles someone you already recognize, your brain naturally makes that connection.

But let me clear this up: Kiara Advani is not part of Batwara 1947. The actress creating all the confusion in this poster is Kanikka Kapur.

Who Is Kanikka Kapur?

Kanikka Kapur is one of the younger names associated with Batwara 1947. Her sudden visibility through this poster is interesting because what was supposed to be a simple character reveal has turned into a much bigger conversation about her appearance.

In this case, the Kiara comparison has probably introduced Kanikka to plenty of viewers who hadn't heard her name before.

Now I’m more interested in seeing Kanikka Kapur as a character rather than simply comparing her to Kiara Advani. After all, a poster can create curiosity, but the performance is what will ultimately make people remember her.
