Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

‎"Be pleased with everything that Allah does with you. For indeed He does not prevent you except to give you. He does not test you except to protect & save you. He does not give you ill health except to cure you. He does not give you death except to give life to you + So beware of not being pleased with Him even for the blink of an eye. Such that you fall in His eye."

If you desire something you love, do not disobey Allah in reaching it, so that it does not become a reason for you to be deprived of it. For what is with Allah cannot be attained through disobedience.

Depression is often just:

missing fajr

no qur'ān

no dhikr

no sunlight

bad sleep

no walks

processed food

too much phone

zero purpose beyond dunyā

Tahajjud is actually love. When you're in Sajdah and your eyes start to talk to Allah, you cry your heart out filling the prayer mat with tears. You just keep on speaking to Allah. And when you get up. Your heart feels so much lighter. You feel easy. You feel at peace.

اللَّهُمَّ إني لا أملك لنفسي هدى، ولا توفيقًا، ولا صلاحًا، إلا أن تهديني، وتوفقني، وتصلحني. اللَّهُمَّ لا تجعلني من المحرومين عنك، وأنا أعرفك..

O Allāh, I do not possess guidance, nor tawfīq, nor righteousness for myself except what You grant me. O Allāh, do not make me among those deprived of You, while I know who You are.
